I gotta tell ya, I’m absolutely loving the VTOMAN brand! I’ve got my hands on this awesome X1 jump starter with air compressor, and let me tell you, it’s the real deal! This thing is a beast and a total game-changer. When it comes to starting up my engine or dealing with a flat tire, the VTOMAN X1 has got my back, no doubt about it.

Nice review:) Lot's of competition now in this price range, which is very good for the consumer. VTOMAN and Pecron give you the 1.5KW battery, which is 50% more than the venerable Delta 2 and about 30% higher than the AC180. Having an app is a nice extra that VTOMAN has yet to offer, but having the ability to jump start your car is really much better than an app!

Solar Panel Question - The specs says input voltage of (Anderson Input) 30V-60V at 400W and (DC Input) at 12V-20V 200W. I am new to power stations and solar panels and I watched your solar panel review video. I'm still learning and confused so perhaps a simple questions 1. What economical solar panel or panels do you recommend. I have a much better understanding after watching your videos but sometimes is easier to just ask questions :-) Thanks

I'm using 2 100w panels wired in series to get 36v nominal output (in full sun usually kicks out around 50v). It's hard to find panels that will put out more than 30v so you will likely have to build your own (or buy the folding panel from VTOMan). One note: I have two of these units and NEITHER will charge reliably on solar - they will work fine for weeks and then just decide to stop charging. I have not been able to determine a cause of this.

I purchase this unit based off your recommendation. Two things I wish you would've mentioned, is that it trips a ground fault outlet and... if you leave it plugged in charging after it is fully charged, it is always drawing 80 W with all the orange buttons turned off, and no draw.

@@scottmurphy4946 I checked this, it does have a parasitic drain of about 72 w when fully charged with no draw and 65 W while charging and draining. The UPS I think is a top-of-the-line UPS. It is charging the battery, then all power is being drawn from the battery. I also found when I turned off the breaker and back fed through a GFI it tripped. Since you have 2 kill a watt testers, put one before the unit charging and put one on one of the outlets and put a 200 W load for one hour. This would be a worthy demonstration for a lot of guys using this for UPS computers and security systems. I would love to see the video. You could try a kill-o-watt meter in your wall outlet feeding this unit, then put another kiil-o-watt meter feeding a fridge from the AC output of this unit. Maybe test it for a 24 hour period.

How long did you leave it after it started saying 80 watts? Sounds like the cells are only pulling ~0.05C (80/1500) - that 80 watts must be going somewhere. I'd leave it for another 24 hours and say what it says then. This will let it top-balance the cells. Does it tell you its battery voltage? (To be certain that it's not holding it at a silly high voltage.)

One of the primary things i look for with a large battery unit like this is the ability to turn itself and load circuits back on after a complete power outage, the ability to use solar and AC at the same time, and when the sun is out to prioritize the use of solar.

Ive been eyeing another budget minded gen and been mulling over this and the pecron 1500lfp. The fact vtoman doesnt have the extra battery yet is really pushing me towards the pecron. Pecrons extra battery price is hefty compared to vtomans jump extra battery though but offers its own solar input. Hopefully vtoman drops their extra battery for this soon so we can see if they added a BMS. Is nice having a ton of options these days. Even bluetti units arent horribly priced these days for small/mid sized units.

Amazing review. But, I don't believe there is pass through Power via AC to AC. I do believe that the battery is continuously charged, and the pure AC sin wave is always being pulled from the battery. A good test for this would be plug-in the charging cord and run 1800 W to see if the voltage drops. My bet is that it does. Next, it would be really nice if you took the VTOMAN 1800 and charged this new one through the AC pure sine wave. This would give me 600 W charging with a previously purchased item. This could be a game changer.

Like most manufacturers VTOMAN cuts off the power at 90% DOD to protect the battery, so the most it can get at the rated capacity is 1393. Plus even with DC out there's a conversion loss. So overall the battery has about 95% the rated capacity.

Great review... thanks! Say, you mentioned that Vtoman has "apparently" resolved the problems we smaller-sized "Jumpers" have been living with involving a very restrictive 100w or, for some, a 200w solar input max. Can you please explain where you were going with that? Thanks.
@ReeWrayOutdoors
@ReeWrayOutdoors 3 ай бұрын
I think where I was going with that was simply that if you needed more robust solar charging, VTOMAN didn't really have a viable solution since their entire Jump line was relegated to only 200W or less. But with the FlashSpeed series, that limitation has been 'resolved' in that they DO now have a solution with more robust solar input capacity (not that they've resolved the limitation in the Jump series).

Its funny that they are all adopting the Oukitel form factor, complete with handles and cable storage compartment. The layout of the plugs is a bit different, and the internals are clearly going to be different. But the form factor is clearly copied from Oukitel's P2001. The voltages look similar too, As with other power stations, the charging and regulation circuitry is not really all that efficient. All of these vendors are still cheaping out on design quality. It would be nice to test the USB-C discharge efficiency to see if it is any better. Those tend to use dedicated support chips for voltage regulation which are usually around 90% efficient. Note that the "watt" display is likely completely wrong when you are charging and discharging at the same time. All of these power stations copied the same broken design and the readings all go wonky when doing that, across many models and vendors. You need to put a kill-a-watt on both the input and output. Final item... note that kill-a-watt's and similar devices generally can't handle continuous power anywhere near what they say they can handle on the label. It might seem odd since it just goes through a shunt, but the problem is that the contacts on the kill-a-watt socket tend to not be well-plated (or plated at all) and tend to corrode and oxidize over time. The result is excessive heat due to poor contact area and the plastic starts to melt around the socket. So watch for that.

I have it on the balcony,at the moment sun is not high enough yet in UK. But...I thought that it will show some watts. It has charged 3%,which I didn't see because I was at work but it was showing after few hours. Well that would be quite horrible if it would have to charge 30 days for nearly full charge. Hey, Thank you for all your videos! Excellent job. Can you tell me if you would reccomend the bluetti ac180 or the VTOMAN Jump 1500X. Using it for a small tear drop camping trailer. Also, want to be able to charge the portable power station with my Firman 3200W generator with propane. Is this possible?

You'll pay more for the AC180, but if you've got the funds, I'd go with the AC180 over the Jump station. You should be able to charge either one from the Firman generator as long as it's outputting at least 110V.

Yeah thats too bad you cant adjust the ac in wattage. Or a button to have preset settings. Would be nice to plug this in to the outlet in my truck vs the cigarette port. But 1500w would trip the inverter. Could buy a laptop charger within 12-20v for

Does seem a bit brutal to keep charging the batteries at this rate via mains. I wonder if using a 48v mains charger via the solar input would help longevity?

I have the same. Is it normal that fans start even with the smallest of energy consumption? I connected to AC an electric blanket to the minimum and it consumes around 20W. The fans kick in right away and never shut down. They are so loud all night.

Can 2 be paired together for true North American 120/240 volt split phase power if not then why not any unit with a 1500 Watt pure wave inverter and above 2 1500watt legs should if the load is balanced run a fridge freezer furnace microwave oven and other small appliances maybe not all at the same time but I can put up with the nusiance of turning off a breaker so something doesn't start up while I'm running something else

129W on the VTOMAN and 107.74W discharge on the discharge module. almost 20% lost. At the end if you calculate it is 27.5% lost. What if this have 1548wh but you have too much lost?

DC voltage started at 11.1 volts when battery state was 100%. Is that normal for a regulated output?

Thanks for the review. I am very much considering this unit. I recently received the Jump 1500x and Pecron E600. Both of those are excellent jobsite and camping power stations. However, neither are very convenient for power outage and backup duty. I'm a bit turned off by BLUETTI. The EB3A, that I thought would be like an EDC, has been relegated to my computer station UPS. The other station I find very intriguing is the MARXON G1500. There isn't a lot of user data, but it is an interesting unit. Blessings to all and have the day you deserve.

Not only this specific unit but how do you go about protecting any power station unit while solar charging outside? In case of a sudden rain shower or something? I assume keeping it covered with a plastic bag or something isn't recommended. I am sure user should not cover the ventilation cut outs on the unit for many reasons?

I might have missed this but can you adjust the AC charging power? Charging LFP at 1C can be pretty rough on the cells.....granted.....how many people are going to cycle them enough to get them below 90% capacity before the calendar life does that to the cells?

Also, what's the power factor of the charger? Eg. if you've got a "2000 watt generator" it might overload the generator, as a lot of chargers have a PF of ~0.65 so 1500/0.65=2307VA which would overload a typical 2KVA generator.

Hi would this power a Chinese diesel heater with the 12v cig socket kind regards
@ReeWrayOutdoors
@ReeWrayOutdoors 7 ай бұрын
MOST cigarette sockets have a fairly strict 10A current cap (some are only rated for 8A). So, it really depends on your specific heater model. I don't have one, but I did look up some specs and I see that the current requirement can range from about 4A to upwards of 15A...so you'll want to ensure that yours doesn't pull over 10A if you want to power it through a cig socket.

Do the fans ever turn off when charging with a/c power? I’d like to use this as a ups, but continuous fan noise would drive me nuts.
@ReeWrayOutdoors
@ReeWrayOutdoors 11 ай бұрын
I think it'd have to a pretty cool ambient temp for the fans to NOT run when this unit is charging. Personally, I don't mind it so much if they're running continually vs cycling on and off constantly, which I find much more annoying. But as I said, that's a personal preference and you might feel differently.

Is there an option to charge it more slowly? Thats speed will wear out the unit I think. Somewhere around 600w input would be nice.
