The '500 is surprisingly nimble, isn't it? I love mine.

My first road bike was a vulcan 500 and I miss it so much! for a little cruiser, you can ride the absolute shit out of them.

I was out on my 1997 vulcan today. Got it from a Buddy, only 1950 miles. I've put 400 on it so far. I had to change all the fluids, get the carbs sonic cleaned, and put plugs in it. It's really an awesome bike. So glad I didn't get a 250.

As an update, put a heavier spring on the kickstand. No more dragging!

I might should try this. I kickstand turn my bike a lot to put it in my basement(nonWhite area) and it seems less good now all the sudden. I have to push it up it doesn't spring up.
@boycottjews2 жыл бұрын
Haven't even looked at it yet honestly, might just need some fiddling with.

I’m thinking of buying a 2000 that’s for sale near me and this video may be the tipping factor. I’m down sizing from a Shadow 1100 because I’m getting old and want something lighter. I’m liking the sound of that bike.

The Vulcan 500's just dont sound right. I SEE a cruiser, but my brain THINKS it is hearing a Ninja 500. LOL Never the less, I do love these lightweight little bikes. Nice viid!

+coyote102076 It sounds even more like the little streetbike with aftermarket pipes!

That stock exhaust? I like it. My Vulcan 500's pipes were tweaked by its previous owner and it's so loud it hurts my ears, so I'm in the market for either OEM stock replacements or .. maybe whatever you have there ..
@boycottjews2 жыл бұрын
Can't stand loud bikes either.

I have a 99 vulcan 500 and love it!!! Only thing is that corners dont allow much lean, and I cant see out my mirriors because they only show my shoulders.

How is the vulcan 500 on the highway? Looking at picking on up here in the next couple of weeks and was kind of curious?
@ylism8 жыл бұрын
+Mike Tebbe They do really well for that, if you are referring to interstates rides they do just fine as well, one thing that helps is a windscreen for obvious reasons say bugs & wind. If you're going to be riding a lot on the the faster roads going up one tooth on the front sprocket helps with better MPG and a more relaxed RPM, not a necessary item by no means but it can be a benefit. They are great bikes for anybody, and will surprise a lot of bigger CC bikes of this type. Good luck !

I'm about 6'1" with a 32" inseam do you think I'll be good to fit on this bike?
@samehsouissi69867 жыл бұрын
Fabian Fazzari, I'm 6.1 as well it's great bike n I love it. The only issue is with seat, u need custom seat to makeup for shortage or leg length.
@fabianfazzari65787 жыл бұрын
What seat do you have to makeup for it?
@samehsouissi69867 жыл бұрын
Fabian Fazzari you have 2 options either trim the stock seat 2 inches to support ur back or get custom seat. I trimmed mine coz I like how wide the seat is.

Heavy Toke Oh yeah. the riding position and location of the pegs and controls are good for someone our height. The 500 or its newer replacement the Vulcan S are great choices for a first bike!
@absentmindedadjunct58877 жыл бұрын
It's comfortable for a midweight lower priced cruiser. The seat could be better, but it's something you can get used to. I never had cramps or aches after riding from being cramped. Just a numb ass after a few hours.
@theredbeard63337 жыл бұрын
I thought you have forward controls, is this original exhaust ?
