Fuel tank cleaned with muriatic acid and lacquer thinner. Re-sealed with POR-15. 1977 VW Bay Window Bus Restoration.

Wow. That tank was toasted. Can’t believe you decided to save it most folks would have forgotten about it. Looks like someone filled that thing with mud. You did a good job at saving that puppy. I wonder how much a new one would have cost? And how much you spent on chemicals. I did mine too but it wasn’t that bad. I thought you out the chain in there! That means someone tried to clean that tank before and just gave up maybe???!!

At that time I could not find a replacement tank for fuel injected models. I threw the chain in there to help loosen up the crusty bits :)

Wow , very nicely done. I may have to do the same . When I purchased Casper it was missing the gas tank cap. So chances are there is rust inside the tank.

Was not able to find EFI speck tank... and similar what I found was $300 + $100 shipping. Once I started, was fully committed to win :)
