VW Door Won't Open from inside and outside *SOLVED*

Just installed coil overs to my mk4 but passenger side is sitting much higher than the drivers side on the rear. They are both adjusted all the way down. Have you got any idea?

Not sure buddy, I remember this happening on my car when I fitted cheap pro sport Coilovers and I adjusted accordingly until they matched. I have since thrown the Coilovers away and went for Bilstein b4 sport shocks with tein lowering springs and have never looked back.

Great video. Unfortunately I am no closer to resolution. I have followed your instructions carefully after originally trying the many 'solutions' available on the internet. My son and myself created much amusment in a local supermarket carpark as we practically destroyed the offside side of my Polo, clicking. snapping and kicking. NOTHING! Finally gave in and proceeded to nearly destroy the door card but suceeded with that. Fiddled around trying to move various levers, etc. NOTHING! Drilled hole as instructed and loosened screw which has disappeared somewhere. I'm left with a hand-full of screws, levers and various other bits and pieces. STILL DEADLOCKED and immovable. To beat it all I can't for the life of me get that electrical connection off. I'm on the point of cutting that off now. Do you suggest a jack hammer? I have no intention in spending £300 for some 'technician' to fiddle around with. Any ideas? Thanks

Omg your door sounds like a nightmare mate lol, jackhammer will defo help 🤪.. I’m lost for words why yours is so difficult the electrical connection is a bit hard to come off sometimes maybe spray wd40 and push it in before unclipping and pulling off. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem on my Bora (jetta mk4) , today i did the hole and surprinse, that plastic arm broke right off when i pushed it whit the scruedriver . Do you have any ideas how can i unlock the door (back rigth).

Oh Man that's going to be tricky if its broken off. If it was me I would try and destroy the actuator apart and try to get to the insides and force it open the only issue with that is access and you would need to make an ugly hole to get to it.

Update : whit a clear mind i manage to open the door using your metod, under the plastic arm, that broke for me, is a metal hook. 3 hours later and a bigger scruedriver i manage to move the mechanism. Also dont be afraid to put some force into it, i managed to bend the door panel just by useing it as a support.

Yes mate actuator is gone, funny you mention this because my cars passenger front is also doing this and I remember the rear door starting off the same way before it stopped working all together.

@@lindseycope6317 yesss it’s most likely the case. I got a new one and had it replaced at my local garage and it works a treat now. I think possibly the recent cold might’ve damaged the mechanism inside the door as for me on the day it happened my door was iced over.

Hi mate, really not sure on your car. Im thinking it would be a similar process of trying to get the door card off somehow and have access to actuator.

Easier solution: Just open the front door. Then you should see the bolts holding the rear door onto the car. Loosen those bolts, and the rear door should open right up.

@@Mk4heavenHD OK. Tried banging the door panel from the outside as per another tip in KZbin, to jolt the electrics but now I've got a radio that doesn't work but randomly comes on & off, an air bag warning fault & I'm unable to start the car. Serious electrical problems. Bloody VW's.

In most cases it a new lock mate, some people have removed and fixed the old actuator but they £20 and I think it’s better to just replace.

first of all im currently buliding my car wich it is a golf mk4 gti came with 1.8t but i did a stroker to be at 2.0 basicly my old turbo Gtx2867r gen2 i sold it was not really happy with my choise i made and was not money well spent it was laggy and getting realy hot a lot of times it would not spool right so the car stopped running its sitting in the garage for like what 8 months now i have decided to get a new turbo BUT this time i want the money to be well spent like a good ,relaible spools fast turbo to be able to handle 600hp my car would not be tuned to 600hp but it would be like around 550hp i want a good relaible big turbo upgrade to hit around 550hp no problems at all driving the car to work or street racing good response and would not disappoint me really could you help me with that thanks a lot my car is 2002 2.0 stroker and i dont know what turbo to get i want yours idea and options what is best for my need wich is 550hp or like around that maybe less than that by a little bit not running methanol or somthing pump fuel only like high octane 98 you know i saw the borgwarner turbos and i dont know anything about turbos really that much so i want an answer for my car espically for my needs and the power i want to achive with all the measurements all of the A/R stuff and turbine houseing all of this measurements

Hi Mate looks like you not messing about lol. That’s some serious power for a 1.8T that’s been stroked wow. To be honest I have no experience in big power builds on these motors. What I can say is I have a precision 5858 ball bearing on my civic and I’m happy with it, the turbo is rated to 620bhp but currently running 508bhp. Borg Warner have always had a good name but I’m unsure on what exact turbo would suit your setup and goals.

​@@Mk4heavenHD thank you kindly for the link. The problem with the Ibiza door is that the seems to be no way to reach the screws at the bottom of the door. The frame is totally in the way. I wonder if the dealer has a special tool to reach around the locking unit and pull up the lever that you show to be the culprit. I can reach the handle that is normally connected to the outside door handle (the little pulling string has become undone) and pull it, but of course that doesn't do anything if the lever on the other side is stuck.
