All the coal power stations were shut down. Gas Power stations are only used to fill in for when the nuclear is shut down and/or the lack of wind.. which is fairly rare in Scotland. Tidal about to start contributing our power mix in the next year. It is happening and is possible!

I have been having VW e-UP already for three years. It can run for about 150km at winter and twice of this at summer. The car has one annoying setting, which cannot be altered without adapating the firmware, as it was said by the dealer workshop. The default temperature is +22 degrees. This is far too high, I would prefer to have +18 only. Each time I get inside I have to press DOWN button to reduce the T.

@Bjørn Nyland To my knowledge, Li-ion battery are affected by low temperature in two ways: Available Capacity (as you said in the video) for about 2% between 25 and 0 °C, but also their internal resistance will go up (x2 between 25 and 0 °C) Rough calculation leads to 1kWh of heat loss increase between 25 and 0 °C for this car. (I.R. of li ion goes up from 100 to 200 mOhms). The combinaison of these 2 factors could explain the 3 kWh that are missing.

@@bjornnyland well I have a picture to prove it. And Tesla SC told me the threshold in winter weather can be as high as 24 kwh, and the temperature threshold for it has been lowered recently, yes it's indeed true. Talk to your Tesla SC to confirm. I am not saying it's a bad thing, I will always take longevity over battery range, but it's not correct to say that Tesla is not banking capacity in winter. It makes total sense and I don't understand why people think it's a bad thing. In fact I would have a worse opinion of Tesla if they didn't. It's smart and good for long term ownership, which I plan to do.

Did you calculate based on consumption at a constant 90km/hr or just what the trip told you?
@matthewlibanio8227
@matthewlibanio8227 4 жыл бұрын
@@CoolSilver based on what the screen told me in terms of total KMS driven and KWH used. 53kWH used to drive 323 KMS. I had about 5 or 6 kms left. I took it to Tesla the next day to ask. I was just curious. I was doing a constant 110km/h. Temp was set to 17.5 degrees and fan speed was 1. My mom has arthritis so I didn't want her to be in pain. But Tesla told me it's normal now with the changes they have made. Again, not complaining. I think it's a great idea to set capacity aside in extreme cold for longevity. My issue was that saying the Teslas don't do it is not correct. They do and there is nothing wrong with that.

Since you're not suppose to charge up to 100% for your everyday use, do you have to set the limit (like 80-90%) from your home charger? Or is there any way of restricting that from the car before you set it up for charging over night?
