Thanks for your great step by step guide Nigel; it worked like a charm. I'm not proud to say that I got my Golf in 2019 (maps folder dated Oct 2018) and this is the first time I've updated it...As a bonus, I've now found where VW put the CD player ;D I won't leave it as long next time, now I know how easy it is. I'm going to look at your Speed camera video next, but that'll be for another day. All the best

Worked a treat on my 2015 golf need to remember to set the SD card to write by moving the little white lock button as it’s locked to read only. Thanks a great easy to follow instructions I used bundle 2

Works fine. Best to unzip the download first on a external disk and then copy to the VW-SDcard.

Yeah you got it, that's the best way to do it. All that needs to be done is to replace the old Maps folder with the new Maps folder . 👍

Ive already put speed cameras onto mine. Would updating the nav remove the speed cameras? I added them by downloading the files onto an extra sd card installed onto the car and then removed the sd card

Yeah I'm pretty sure it will over write everything and you would have to add them again

In my Golf, there is an option to dismount the SD card before you remove the card.

got a constant write-protected issue, unable to copy anything to the sd card. the lock is clicked up. tried everything to no avail :(

Ok I think that happened to me and I had downloaded the wrong file, it was way too big for my SD card so the first thing to check is the size of your downloaded file , and compare it to the size of your SD card

I have downloaded Europe 1. Problem is I cannot delete any files on the vw sd card to put the new ones on.

@@skiddmurks it sounds like the SD Card lock is going back on when you put it in your PC, mine is hard to click on and off so it allows transfer

no mate you have to use your official VW card as it has a licence on it. The card size is 16gb, if you are finding the download is too big then go to the download page and try a different set of countries for the download, there are several. I had the same trouble at first, you need to find the map that fits your SD card.... if none of them do then I think you need to buy a new map from VW. I think the file i downloaded was only 7gB. I am in the UK and i chose the smallest mapset for me.... I think it is possible to put it on a new SD card but you have to leave your original card in the first SD slot in the car and put the update in the second slot and update from within the maps in the car, but it takes hours to do it like that.

@@KarzanAlyaqoobi sorry I just looked in the VW site and I don't see an update for the Atlas... I'm in the UK we don't have that vehicle in the UK.... Try the VW site from where you are, you might find it

If your system has a memory card in the glove compartment, you will replace the map folder exactly the same as the video. If it is a PRO version without an SD card then you need to download the update file and follow the instruction off the VW website.... not really sure how to update the PRO system having never had one to do it. But the ones with the memory card are easy to do .... good luck, make a back up of your card before you start just in case it goes wrong which is shouldn't
