Thank you so much for a fast speed time lapse. That's exactly what I needed! I have worked on so many cars in my time and this is the first one that I needed to look up how to pull it apart? Because it's a German car I was not aware how much stuff they have for the cooling system and how many attachments they have for plastics parts to make the car lighter but not vibrate to pieces? Smart engineering but frustrating to know that there is always a bolt or screw that hasn't been undone because it's somewhere you can't friggin see? So much work before even getting to the part that is the issue? I was given the car for $100 so I just have to keep reminding myself that the cheap price will be worth the frustration for a good car in the end? 🤞

I have been experiencing a problem with the DQ250 gearbox for the last 10,000 km and it sounds like this: When the clutch engages there is a clunk, the gear shifts are very linear and nothing is felt, except a clunk and a little jerk. I have noticed this phenomenon also when I go, in any gear, take my foot off the accelerator and put it back on, a clank is heard. I'll leave some videos below with what I'm trying to explain. I'm guessing it would be the dual mass flywheel, the car having 210k km. The dog bone and mounts are ok. Replaced the CV Joints but nothing changed. The sounds appears when you try to reproduce the noise which gets louder and louder the more you try to reproduce it Also when i'm in idle i feel sometimes some vibratians and when i put it in D, the vibration dissaperes. On VCDS there's no errors from mechatronic unit. What do you guys think?

my dmf went out at 240k miles. but that was lots of highway... it will start rattling pretty soon listen for it when you turn the engine off it starts there with a little extra couple of light noises. then it starts doing it while idling. Also listen for the clicking when you put it in gear from reverse to 1st. or opposite. that will be the first signs of clutch wear. If I could turn back the hands of time I would have done the clutches at the same time. not hard to do while the trans is out. Keep up on those trans oil changes too.

Mine went out at 150k miles. I like to slap the car a little bit and my girlfriends do a lot of Uber delivery with it, so I think we kinda killed it early. lol You might be near !

My 2013 JSW TDI needs a new dual mass flywheel soon and I'm still having nightmares about the on my daughters 2009 JSW about 5 years ago. I had watched some of Mike's older videos and this new one looks even better. I do have a couple of questions/comments. The 1st being can anyone recommend a decent and/or reasonably priced transmission jack to use while the car is on jack stands? I bought a cheap Harbor Freight model and had to combine with hanging trans with fender to fender cross brace to get trans back in myself and it still took me hours. 2nd I watched a bunch of other KZbin's and saw one other guy remove the (flanges?) that the axel attaches to at the transmission before he removed the trans, he claimed it made it easier, I am wondering about this and if is safe to do? does it require new torque to yield bolts. I seem to remember those flanges being part of the "hang up " in getting trans out ( I actually chipped plastic fitting where the electrical harness plugged into the trans).

Taking the driveshaft flange off makes it much easier.

So you need to recalibrate the gearbox after replacing the dmf?

There is no recalibration necessary for a DMF replacement.

How do you change the transmission oil. I've been told you need a special pump for that job

I just drains out the bottom, technically you have to refill it from the drain plug using a specific adaptor/pump. But i just re sealed everything and refilled from the filter port hole on top under the battery. Just takes alot longer but doable.

So how feasible would this be to do without a lift? Would I be able to get the transmission off with just a jack and some cribbing?

There is a shifter lever on top of transmission what position do you put it in when reinstalling transmission?

Can't you take that flange (for axle) off and reinstall when the transmission is back in. I just took mine out, and it was hard getting out because of that. I saw where one guy took it off and it made it a lot easier coming out. Also what do you think about the metal shim in between the transmission and engine? Kinda bent mine some

@@Mikefngarage well it's the same for Japanese cars in Europe. A friend of mine had to wait 2 months for a rear bumper of a Mazda 3, when he could get one for a Golf in a day😅.
