Thank for the video. All of the video I watched did not explain how to pop the axle out. You did. So that made your video better than any of the 10s I watched.

Good luck and it is not as bad as it seems. Hardest thing is popping the axle out of the transmission.
@michaellarmour2 жыл бұрын
How did you do it?!?! We can't get it out!
@operationoverhaul2 жыл бұрын
@@michaellarmour put pry bar, large screwdriver, or a tapered piece of wood behind the axle at the transmission and hit it with a hammer and it should pop out. The retainer rings on these are super tight and not much room to get something in there. I used a long and thick screwdriver.
@Daniel-lu5so4 ай бұрын
Good video. Couldve used a closer look at what you did to unseat it from the transmission tho.
@operationoverhaul4 ай бұрын
Sorry about that, it was a really tight area and I could not get a good spot to show everyone.
@jvzthebarber11 ай бұрын
This actually looks a lot easier to do than the damn control arms.

It is not a bad job at all. In my opinion they are easier.

Great vid. Why was the axle replaced? Camber idls off on my vehicle... not sure what to replace.
@operationoverhaul11 ай бұрын
The axle was leaking grease and it was starting to make a popping noise. The camber issue could be either a bad ball joint, strut, arm, or even wheel bearing.
@505burqueАй бұрын
I smacked a curb and it diconeccted the wheel from the axle. How much more damage could i have possibly done? Could that affect the transmision?
@operationoverhaulАй бұрын
It may have bent the control arms, and there is a possibility some damage occurred in the transmission. You would need to pull the axle and check it out.
@Thomasjcolbert82 Жыл бұрын
Our axel bolt was so tight, the threads stripped as it came off. We are trying to take the bearing hub off. It’s seized on there and we can’t get it off. I’m not sure what to do. I know this is axel replacement video. But hoped you would know. The wheel hub itself has broken out of the casing and we cannot get the casing out of the knuckle after removing the four bolts on the inside. This has been a nightmare and it’s only one side we have started.

I can get everything for you. Let me look it all up for you.

The axle bolt is 200 nM + 180°, ball joint to lower control arm is 100 nM, then the tie rod to knuckle is 20nM + 90°

My Passat 2.5 2013 it makes like a tick or noise when I start to accelerate the car and then goes away. Can this be the cv axles ? I hear it more on the driver side and I see that it’s leaking

Does it click/pop when you turn sharp as well?

@@operationoverhaul yes and also the car vibrates when I accelerate around 20-30 mph I thought it was my front brakes but when I brake it doesn’t make the scratch sound of it

Can u show a video how u did the torque spec on this car ? I have the parts now I just need to do the torque spec for the axle bolt . Thank u
@operationoverhaul9 ай бұрын
@@100sean1 the torque specs are 200 Nm and an additional 180 degrees. I put the lugs back in as far as they will go and put a pry bar in between two of them and tighten them down.

Not accurate. Idk what you did white your right hand when you removed the axle.

It was hitting something and I just moved it out of the way of what it was hitting so I could pull it out. I had already un-seated it from the transmission.

Did this part have the abs ring on it?
@operationoverhaul Жыл бұрын
No, this part did not have the abs ring on it. I think the press in axles do not have them because they are on the wheel bearing if I remember correctly.

@Operation: Overhaul is it possible to add one. I have the exact same mfg model and year as the one your working on in the video.

Same for a passat 2006 automatic?
@operationoverhaul Жыл бұрын
It depends on if you have a bolt in axle that bolts to the hub on the transmission or if it is a press in style axle that goes into the transmission itself and is held in with the clip around the axle splines. So it could be the same
@stevanielively8393 Жыл бұрын

Is this the same for a 2016 Passat SEL 1.8L?
@operationoverhaul Жыл бұрын
I'll look it up for you on service data and see, then I'll let you know.
@operationoverhaul Жыл бұрын
Service data shows it can be the press in style like these or the bolt in style with the triple square bolts. Most of the stuff is about the same on both only the main difference is to get the axle off of the transmission you have to unbolt them instead of prying them out.
@josegameing38092 жыл бұрын
Where did you get the axel from, mine keeps breaking I think it’s because it’s from autozone
@operationoverhaul2 жыл бұрын
I got mine from oreilly auto and the customer has not had an issue but, I have heard the same issue with a lot of aftermarket axles on these. I would go with factory if you are able to.
@diddy602 жыл бұрын
Would this be the same for a 2018?
@operationoverhaul2 жыл бұрын
Depends on what engine you have. If you have the 2.0L it would be about the same but if it is the 3.6L the shaft is bolted into stubs ends that are in the transmission.

I just had the same thing happen on an altima I worked on. There was a banging noise complaint from the customer on the passenger when they put it in gear and it was the axle was hitting together in the knuckle portion of the axle.
