Awesome work! I checked Decino's playthrough, and he also cheeses the final fight! 😊
@Vytaan Жыл бұрын
Thanks! :) He does, that's how I got the idea to cheese it as well haha. I still wanted to beat it the intended way at first, but I gave up after 100+ attempts.

Wow, 116 attempts! And you finally did it! The song perfectly fits the whole map! It's a MIDI rendition of Max Man from Streets of Rage 2.
@Vytaan Жыл бұрын
Yes! :D The song fits very well. At first it got me pretty hyped up, but after so many attempts it did start to get on my nerves heh. But that kinda goes for the whole map, not just the song.

the last part of this map where you had the revenents, imps and a cyber all infighting is what i like to watch (in saftey). I would not have used anything but a pistol just to keep them stirred up.

Great run! I'm stuck on this map too so your intro fight strategy looks promising. Also I had a weird sort of a challenge idea in the back of my mind for a while: beating maps without using any of the secrets. Must be tough especially in maps like this.
@Vytaan Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Let me know if you try the strategy out, good luck :) And that's a fun concept! I think this map is doable without secrets, although it'll be awkward to take down the cyberdemon in the secret area since you wouldn't be allowed to telefrag him. Missing out on soul sphere is doable as I still had mine left during the final fight, and missing out on the invulnerability is tough but also doable if you cheese the final fight. Definitely hard, but it should be possible.

Well Done !!! The king map is next. Best of luck, and also with Scythe 2 as it will also enter late Sunlust difficulty domain.

Thanks! Yeah, both wads are pretty crazy now... really curious about Scythe 2 though and how the blind runs will go :D

Wow! 100+ attempts. Hats off for your perseverance. 😀

Thanks! All those attempts did make me slightly crazy (you'll see in the outtakes video, it should come out in a few hours), but in the end I made it. :D

Man so many attempts, I would have lost my mind long before Attempt 116
@MrZebub Жыл бұрын
Congrats! Attempt count's getting real and you sounded kinda deflated on this one :D
@Vytaan Жыл бұрын
Thx :) I had a feeling I would need a lot of attempts on this one after MAP28 went relatively smoothly. Had to balance it out :P And you're right, I was kinda deflated. I got so close to beating it without cheesing the final fight at around attempt 60, so I was kind of dead inside after that. But hey, I made it in the end!

Vytaan I have trouble beating doom 2 starting from level 12 do you have any tips also the source port I use is zdoom
@doom4life451 Жыл бұрын
Regarding source port usage: One thing I can say bud that don't use a Zdoom or GzDoom port, use PrBoom / GlBoom or Dsda Doom port to experience the real difficulty cause a lot of variables are altered in a Zdoom port like no infinite height, bigger hit boxes that makes punching easier, more light in dark areas / rooms that allow to see more easily. But lastly this sourceport choice is player / user dependent, that is, if they want true challenge or a bit relaxing / casual experience. Also from my experience I can say that GzDoom works real smooth, Doom plays most fluidly in that port though newer builds of Dsda Doom also have improved a ton. For improving in game, I would advise you to play the game recklessly, use saves until you are confident in doing a single segment run, don't be afriad of taking on medium to big group of monsters, remember the Doomguy is a real fast person so utilise his speed to dodge attacks, laslty use walk-throughs of people like BMD to get easiest method to beat the map or if you are a bit more daring then you can even refer to decino's faster but slightly more skill requiring walk-throughs. Best of luck. Damn,... I wrote.. no.. typed a lot. Lol..

@@doom4life451 yeah most of the time I end up dying in easy mode but in uv I end up always winning the problem I have is I dont know how to find keys/and secrets
@Vytaan Жыл бұрын
It's been a while since I played vanilla Doom 1 or 2, but I agree with a lot of Doom 4 life's tips. I practice Sunlust by going through a map, making a save for every fight I want to practice and then just... practice every fight a lot until I'm confident I can beat it consistently. That should work for any wad/map, even vanilla Doom 2. Movement is really important, Doomguy is very fast so use that to your advantage. Target priority is also a big thing - analyze a fight to see which enemies are the most im;portant to take out first. For example, chaingunners are almost always the #1 priority as they quickly drain your health and are really easy to kill. And as said already, there's nothing wrong with looking up a walkthrough for tips and tricks. I definitely do that when I get stuck on a map, cause you usually learn at least 1 new strategy that could help you a lot. With the secrets I can't really help much. I think that's just a matter of playing a lot and recognizing the small clues. In my opinion it's okay if you really can't find all of them and just want to look them up :P

never have i seen a map more honest about how much it hates you. best way to play it is fast and aggressive so grinding it isn't as soul draining. great job on beating it saveless! the mother of all final maps is next...
@Vytaan Жыл бұрын
Doing it fast is definitely the way to save your sanity. Although for me, changing up my strategies as I kept dying helped a lot to keep this map somewhat fun as well. In the upcoming outtakes video you'll see my attempts being all over the place, sometimes going fast, sometimes going slow, sometimes doing it in between 😆 And thanks! Kinda scared of God Machine, but I have hopes I'll beat it with enough practice.
