Pyrrhus Canicus Aurelius We really should of, if we could of taken any ship out it would of been worth it, I don't think it's shown much in the video, but with gravity bomb it was impossible to control the ship, hence why we almost stuck it to tex

Was a lot of fun to watch, good mix between building, commentary, and highlights during the smuggling race! The rules were a bit unclear though, at the start you said they should have one small ship, but they ended up with two, and sneaky beacon drones :P

Loving the new format. While the streaming allowed for community participation/comments, it also was the bane of your attempts at a full entertaining experience with Space Engineers constantly derping. This also allowed for post editing/speeding things up so it's more accessible to an audience who can't watch a 3 hour stream. Already excited to see what you have in store for us next week. This gives me an idea for a game... You have a map where containers and assemblers are piped up to both teams and players can turn on filters to suck up all of the loot inside of a container, but that players fight for a lever that decides to which team it goes for. Containers contain varied but limited loot, while assemblers craft a certain type of part endlessly. At the end of the round, you total up all the parts and whoever has the most wins. You could make this more interesting by making it so the lowest count of parts is doubled, so if you have 50 steel plates, 30 reactor components, 100 interior plates, and 20 radio components your score would be 280, meaning that having 1 large stack of one particular item type isn't necessarily going to win you the game.

I bet you could use a really powerful drone with landing gears on two sides to basically stick an enemy ship/police ship to an asteroid making it impossible for them to move.

Begoña Priego - The block damage was completely off so not even an atomic bomb would harm the ships. The point was to use landing gears to lock the police/enemy in place (no block damage = they can't grind the anchor landing gear off). Railgun could technically throw them off balance a bit, but would be sub par to anchoring. The most distorting idea would be to make a gyro anchor to stick to the enemy and override gyros to spin at some odd angle at full force, to constantly detour the ship.

I like the longer streams sometimes, but I must agree, Engineer Wars is more suited to an edited "show like" format. This was well glued together I felt, quite a smooth exposition of the events. Looking forward to the next one! :D

W4stedSpace I have an idea for engineer wars: You have a specific large ship (which is mostly crippled from the outside including weapons) which You Wedgy and Tex will be on and each team will have to build a boarding craft that boards the craft and have to fight you to take control. You could design the ship to be kind of a maze with traps(turrets, gravity generators, etc..).

That actually happened in a livestream about a year back. Wasted was building a ship and he realised it looked like a good arena. I sabotaged all the gravity and made the ship spin. It was a good time.

here's an idea for a future match, Top Deathgineer! It's a bit of a reversal, each team builds a trap course, basically fill a tunnel with booby traps hidden everywhere (no turrets, warheads or missiles), then you have Tex and Wedge (who can't see what was built) go through each course together in survival. Which ever course kills them faster wins. you would probably need to give the teams an hour at least to do this. either this will be a display of just how creatively destructive these guys can be, or an outright Clang-fest.

Lots of fun watching these. Can we see an episode with block damage back on, a weight limit for the designed vehicles and a relay race for a dangerous cargo to transport it from one place to the next? I'm thinking of a bomb disposal vehicle perhaps with a warhead with a small battery, sensor and a couple of timers to activate then detonate. It would be hilarious to see the team's navigate rough terrain in a land vehicle then hand off the ticking bomb to an air vehicle that has to take the package through a course to a third ship, perhaps a rocket to blast it into orbit to explode.

This was the best episode so far IMO. Very polished (within the limitations of the game and clang) and the time just flew by where it felt like only 20 minutes. The format, great challenge and concept, clever and sneaky teams, and the pacing all added up to a great time. BTW, if Hugh Laurie and every major UK music group can sound like American mid-westerners then Tex should be able to mangle a British accent anytime he wants :P

Wasted, you should do a game where the contestants need to fight, but without using any "standard" weapons (IE rockets, turrets, gatlings). So they could build their own missiles, or design a ship for ramming, or suicide drones, or probably allot more creative solutions then i can come up with!

Be pretty cool to use conceal a warhead on a landing gear, and when your being chased, unlock the landing gear, and let the warhead act as a mine, set it to detonate in 2 seconds, that'd be a neat little weapon

Something that would've been awesome to see would have been a sort of grav-grabber. Where you use a gravity generator to generate a field to pull the containers into a holding area/ pit of landing gears. Seeing how block damage was turned off you could just have the force turned way up, so the cargo just SLAMS into your ship...

That was fun to watch. Reminded me of my days playing Jumpgate and hiding on asteroids to avoid pirates or to ambush the enemy teams during the Weekend of War events. Or dodging GMs flying Flux sentinels by weaving though the parts of stations. Miss those days, sadly the unofficial server that is currently up, since Netdevil Shutdown the original server, is fairly empty. On the plus side looking forward to that kind of stuff in Star Citizen.

Oh man! That was fucking amazing. I assume they had their broadcasting off and then blue team slam an actively broadcasting antenna on the side of the other teams ship with landing gears. Fucking epic levels of troll haha I was dying when I realised what they'd done with that ram. Blue team definitely tried to be too clever and I was pretty amazed how well reds concept paid off. Such maneuverability on that beastly duo.

hey w4stedspace, you guys should do a space prison transport where a group has to escape a ship before they are brought to their prison and another group has to make sure they don't break free. Prisoners can't wear helmets but have a inside man. Ship has a smaller ship for escape, etc etc. If this sounds good let me know.

w4stedspace ehy there awesome! i got somewhat of an idea for one of the future challenges and maybe, just maybe you could make a series about it, i dont know if you know/remember the tv show of the robots fighing on a stage on a tournamente format, with saw's, hammers &... as weapons... Well... what about that!? you could make your guys do just that, build a robot to fight on a stage and get them to fight in a tournament format (making teams of one person or 2 people) where repairs are allowed and at the end the winner has to fight a BIG robot built by you wedgy and tex :D wouldnt that be fun and cool!? :3

If I were on Blue, I would've just made the little pod thing just a bunch of gyros, a merge block, reactor, a timer and a landing gear, setup the timer to disengage the merge block, and then activate the gyro override to force the ship to start spinning, either than, or use those spherical generators to push my own ship away whenever the ship with the attachment came close

This is so good. Hey +w4stedspace have you thought of doing a 'Customs Inspection' type gametype? (like certain levels of the X-Wing series of games?) I tried a really basic version of it but I only had 3 players for my video and I'm sure more thought could be put into it. Basically a police base has detectors and a queue of ships passes through a checkpoint carrying detectable items, some benign, some contraband. The police have to detect which players are pirates, and launch a cop ship if they see one, whereas the pirate players amongst the placid players have to be prepared to make a run for it past security to a distant buoy if detected. :)

doing this on a larger scale could be great fun: by that i mean going from one planet to the asteroid field having to jump to the other planet and unload and repeat could make for a good challenge, use small planets and make it two say 10km jumps and let the cops deploy jump inhibitors in the asteroid field

I love this. Reminds me of my favorite show "scrapheap challenge" (the early British series). Many difference but one is the teams here don't have to go find parts needed for the build. This is really fun to look. I have no play SE for a while so I not remember all of it. So if I got it right: You need fuel and power to run H-thrusters but only power for run ION-thrusters... right??

Blue team's big ship should have focused on hiding the cargo in ways the cops wouldn't expect, so that it isn't found when they get caught... might be against the rules though. Also, I prefer this shorter format. I don't normally devote 2+ hours to a single video.

How about a soccer match in space (or futball (I think thats how its spelled) for all those non Americans out there). You have two goals at each end of the arena and each player has a small craft that flies around hitting a cargo container and trying to get it into the goal. Got the idea by watching one of the small ships playing around when they had more than enough time to build.

Just out of curiosity, are you required to specifically use a carrier and a hunter? One idea I had for this particular challenge is to just build two hunters instead, and then have them both fly around in search of containers. Since it's only really feasible to carry one container after the first two minutes, you'd be able to both widen your search AND force the police ships to split up and attempt to chase two small, fast, nimble ships that could be made to accelerate almost instantly and turn like they're on rails.

Sorry haven't had time to watch your build off vids until now... Umm could you fix your hanger cosmetics? E.g. white and light greys, use colored lights on the ends to show the colors of the hanger. I love this new format for the show. It's very enjoyable to watch. I do like the raw stream footage, but this is better overall, I feel. On a sidenote: How did you get the red and yellow box lines in, w4sted? I don't think they're actually blocks, are they? I had some ideas for a dogfighting arena with gravity launched fighters and such a box would help a lot to define the arena!

Having the police know the ships looks and abilities before hand isn't really fair. Makes strategy involving the ship harder to use. They shouldn't know anything about the ship until they first see it. Love the series though.

This episode was awesome, I think I might have taken blue's final 'fuck the police' thoughts abit farther, made something that was all engines and clamps, clamp and overpower both police cruisers, and just try to follow the red team arround, and only release one of the cops when I found them :p You should totally do an engineer wars where damage is off, and the teams have to make warships... but are not allowed to use any conventional weapons. No turrets. No fixed weapons. Just all 'improvised' weapons put together using physics and clang.

I was thinking the same. Hide the blue carrier somewhere inside an asteroid while you load it. Although traffic back and forth would make it easy to be spotted. Also since there's a speed limit, hydro thrusters were always the way to go cause acceleration is life.
