Honestly, I am glad that Wacom is making these Cintiqs cheaper. Whether you like alternative tablets is one thing, but the fact that these alt tablets are getting popular shows that not everyone who wants a Cintiq is a professional and I am glad Wacom is finally listening. I think we can all agree that cheap alternatives are not only great, but that cheap ACTUAL cintiqs, are better. I think my only concern is that this Cintiq seems to have major quality control issues and many users have been complaining. I think it could be like you said, that Wacom devices are priced so high because getting so many quality components and making them work on a screen costs a lot of money? And the only reason why some of the alternatives work so well, is because they're very limited technology wise, and that anything beyond that would either cripple it (For example, the Gitter on the new Huion is caused by tilt, and makes the tablet unusable, many I know are returning it) or be basic because, it would cripple the tablet and they don't have the budget to make it work. Honestly, I feel like that before anyone gets this and have issues, wait. The first generation of a product is usually always the worse, and Wacom has had quality issues with ther Bamboos as well. But, Wacom doesn't seem to care about the Bamboo market anymore. They aren't losing money off of it. They don't care if you buy a more functional XP PEN over it, since the Bamboo was intended for very light sketchers/hobbyists anyways, and not for people who draw everyday or take their craft seriously. Screen tablets are a different story, and while many go from pad tablet to pad tablet, many artists hold on to the same screen tablet for years (Unless it has a serious issue). Wacom REALLY needs the prosumers and freelancers, the people who aren't indie and thus don't need a full blown Cintiq, but also run a Patron and need a display tablet to advance their art and work on commissions. (And the people who can't use a Pad tablet due to eye issues). I am finally glad that Wacom is finally acknowledging them. This is why I love competition, Wacom has been slacking for a while, but after they've taken the heat, they've been doing so much better. I love it.

@@anab0lic Not exactly. XP PEN has a tablet around 500, even 600 before similiar to this two years ago. And it only seems that way since Wacom alts are so cheap. And XP pen has gotten way more money and ad revenue, which is why their 16 inch tablets are 450 when they used to be 600, like this one. Part of the increase in price is partly due to advanced technology such as the pen, which like Aaron says, no other alternative has. Also, the Intous Pro large is 500. This is only 649 more, so it really is affordable if you think of it like that. I hope they release a budget 13 inch tablet worth 400! That would be rad! They'll probably never do it though since it would cannabilize the Intous tablets sales, and thats the problem Wacom had with making this. Eat alive the Intous or the 13 inch tablets? I'm glad they chose the 13 inch tablet. Getting a small pad tablet is fine. It's not ideal, but it's workable. (So long as it's at least bigger than your whole hand). However, 13 inches is just awful. The screen isn't properly calibrated, and the icons are tiny, and your drawing is waay off compared to even a pad tablet. They're honestly really pointless in my opinion. The XP Pen 13 inch is the best 13 inch tablet and the only one that's worth it. Because there's still enough space for the screen, and the fact that it's designed more like an Intous, it makes it so that you can use it like an Intous or a Cintiq, which is a great idea. Compared to Wacom's actual 13 inch Cintiq, where that functionality is limited, it's expensive, and the image is small. I never got way Wacom was so behind with 16 inch when 16 inch was always the clear future and 13 inch felt so outdated. Glad they're finally realizing it, yet still keeping it as an option.

I had been using this type of products since the early 90's and I like Wacom products but I am not in love with Wacom products. For me, it feels like Wacom knows and finally feels the pressure from the alternatives. You pay for the additional features of a Wacom but if you just need a pen tablet or display to do your work digitally. Nothing that I would do on a Wacom I could do on any other tablet. The pen tilt and rotation is not supported in every application and does not affect how well your digital work will end up. I would only get a Wacom if my company or clientele demanded it but coming originally from a traditional background and having worked with this tool for almost half my life. I don't see the benefit the quality statement people use is the same for people who buy macs as well. I have used both of and on since the late 80's and the differences now for me I choose a PC for flexibility and upgradability. So essentially it really is the same tool it is like comparing a pencil to a more expensive pencil you can draw with both one may have more features and will be better designed but it still draws and it still a pencil. The tool does not make the art it is the artist using the tool that makes the art. The art you create requires the same amount of effort and art has no limitations. Bit thanks for sharing this review I kinda thought this would be like a Wacom knockoff of a Wacom not using the same technology and tool. This would've been an easier sell for me with a 4k screen, 100% RGB and a decent stand.

It's good to see that they're not being as tight anymore. The competitors like XP-Pen, Huion and Ugee seem to have had a positive effect :). I know your opinion on those tablets, I dissagree and will likely use alternatives for a good long time, but I think we can both say it's nice to see wacom being more competitive in the mid+ tiers of the market.

ᗯOᑎᗪEᖇ ҡȗṅ it sadly has to be connected to a computer or laptop. If you'd want one that can work on its own, I recommend you to get the Wacom Companion 2, which is basically a computer in its own. But still, the Wacom Cintiq 16 is super chill to work with, really smooth and feels great to draw on. Hope this kinda helped you. PS: The companion 2 is waaay more expensive than the Cintiq 16!

I have purchased two Wacom tablets since 2009 and I adore them. I love the Pro pen and still have the first one that has been used a lot. Nibs still are great as the pressure is not strong and the nibs do not seem to wear out (maybe a tad) I used the same nib for years with success. The slippery surface is the only issue I have with my tablet (used with my computer) as I find it hard to draw good circles and curves, so this sounds like a dream. I was wishing for cheaper/entry level cintiqs earlier and it actually happens?? Is this heaven?? I wonder how much would a 13 inch one cost if there will be one I'm glad this exists I was too scared to invest in any of the alternatives since hearing bunch of bad things about them (eg. they're not durable, customer service is a joke, they make people leave overly positive reviews on amazon/youtube/whatever to make others buy their products, bunch of driver issues etc.)

A lot of the negative stuff about the alternatives is true, it just get suppressed by folks who want free stuff in order to keep getting free stuff. For example, I've been trying to get some alternatives to review, but they keep telling me I have to have the review approved first before I can publish it.

That sucks, honestly! I hate when companies are doing that. Competition is important however so I'm still glad those companies exist. I have a feeling that this tablet wouldn't exist if it wasn't for them. Or maybe it's just Wacom realising that not everyone who's drooling over a cintiq is a pro or not everyone needs all the features (And don't forget to mention those who have eye-hand coordination issues with pad tablets)

I don't want to play russian roulette while choosing a device to draw on lol .. it kinda makes me anxious Yeah, Wacoms ain't perfect either. I heard the cintiq pro line is quite a miss on their point. (with the expectation of the bigger ones) And also the new intuos pros which destroy nibs like crazy. I know I shouldn't go with those models but other Wacoms I've tried before were amazing. I'm still looking for more reviews about this specific model before deciding to buy it. I win 2 contest on digital illustration in Latam competitions using a Gaomon PD1560. If you are already a Pro you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars in something luxurious like Cintiq Pro line Pen Displays. For me Huion is side by side in the market with Wacom. If you type Wacom on Amazon the 85 percent of results are showing non wacom pen displays or tablets. Many Pro people or stuf on ArtStation is made by non wacom products and is a significant observation! I waiting for a new Kamvas Pro 16 or something like that instead this Wacom releases, sorry is my opinion. In photography are many Pros with no full frame equipments and is the same case. I've been using Wacom Intous tablets since the 90's and always wanted to upgrade to a Cintiq. I kept my eye on some of the up and coming companies the last few years and with the release of the Kamvas line from Huion I picked up a Pro 13 before Christmas. With the sale price and online coupon at the time I paid about $325 for it. Let me tell you, I love it. In comparison, I also own an Ipad Pro and Apple pencil, and I love that too especially with Procreate, but for Photoshop, Clip Studio and a bit of 3D work there's still something to be said for using a powerful desktop. I don't regret the Huion purchase for a second, and my only hope is that the Kamvas lasts longer than some of the previous models have been said to last. But so far so good. It has the cordless pen, the pressure, the tilt, the matte display, and is said to be 120% Adobe RGB. Even has some shortcut buttons and a stand. Wacom just isn't beating that with this new, more affordable Cintiq. I will be looking to get a second drawing monitor for my office (first one is at home office) and I'm leaning to the Kamvas Pro 20, which is still cheaper than the Cintiq 16. Wacom is going to have to stop relying on their name at some point as more companies continue to refine their products and offer a lot more for the consumers money. When I first saw this Cintiq announced I was pretty excited, but I think they could have easily offered a bit more with the model.

@progrob27

Thanks for this review, I was close to choosing a cheaper alternative and this helped tipped me over. I am very pleased with it- it is definately worth the money and for the amount of time you will use it is really good value. Now I've had it for a couple of months, I would say to anyone looking at the smaller alternatives for the lower cost of entry- I think they would definately be too small and the cheaper 16 inch ones are only a little it less and I think the smaller bezels would actually be problematic. 16 inches is just big enough that you have space to draw with larger gestures and the big bezels on the wacom 16 are extremely useful for ergonomics when getting towards the edge of the screen. I haven't found myself needing the remote as my right hand just stays on the keyboard for hot keys. I also have found paralax to be a complete non-issue, if you really look for it depending on the angle your looking at the screen, it can be found more so at the extreme edges of the screen but you are really looking at the brush tip not the nib of the pen when you draw. I am however very interested about the (I think art pen?) that allows for barrel rotation as I can see that being really useful with textured brushes, just as a caution though if anyone is also thinking that I think it comes with the felt nib as stanard on the wacom support page is strongly recommends not using felt nips with this tablet as they say it will scratch the screen so make sure to get some normal plastic nibs for it or swap out for one of the spares included with the cintiq.

I do not want to buy the newer editions of the Pro, due to intense nib wear issues, which could really drain my budget. At that rate, why not buy a Cintiq? I'd save money in the long run. I've been aching for a display tablet for a while and while I heard iPad pro is great, I'm reluctant to invest in a $120 stylus and an $800 machine that's destined to start slowing down after 2 or 3 years, as most rechargeable devices do. On top of that, iPad's aren't exactly ideal for high-res files for selling prints and other things like 3D modeling and photobashing. This seems perfect for a hobbyist looking to earn some cash freelancing or commissioning. I hope to get this by June or July to give Wacom opportunities to tweak and fix later models (I hear their devices have a tendency to be janky during launch, especially with their recent Pro line.) @@Valk-Kilmer In that case, I figure it might just be dependent on luck of the draw. I have a large group of friends who are all artists and at least 3 out of 7 of them claim to have issues with their iPads, some refurbished and some newly bought at the Apple store. It seems whenever they use CSP or Illustrator Draw, their machine's GPU starts chugging and lagging a LOT in it's pen strokes. Most of my friends sell their stuff and all of them claim that the machine is phenomenal for sketching and simple pieces, but they prefer to do heavier painting on their PCs. It could be because some of them have the 64GB models, but given anything higher than that breaks $1,000 in price, they didn't really have a choice (we're all college students with minim wage jobs).

Is a good and necesary review but honestly if you didn't use something like Huion Kamvas new Pro models or Artisul, XP Pen even Parblo new monitors you can't be able to name this products simple imitations. I like so much the unique design on Kamvas Pro 13 or GT156V2 also, the stand and construction is badass and I honestly don't see an imitation in that things (Cintiq 13HD is not on the same feeling or looking). By the way for me Wacom Pro Pen 2 worth every penny but the lack on this product is the need to buy a separate stand thats comes in all of competitors, another bug is certainly the non laminated screen and the color gamut (Competitors now are on 100% adobe rgb and some of them have laminated screens right now)... The pen is the BEST but is no have magical powers neither, even Artisul or XP Pen stylus have 8190 levels of pressure and tilt function on Kamvas Pro models. I like the new addition to the Wacom gama but I still preffer the uncoming Kamvas Pro 16 with laminated screen (virtually no paralax) I never use the back eraser on Wacom pens.

Just a note, Huion's most expensive model, the kamvas pro 22, is listed as 100% sRGB, which tanslates to about 72% NTSC. The smaller models such as the pro 12 are listed as 120% sRGB but if you want more screen space Huion is pretty much the same as this cintiq 16. I wish Huion would use Adobe RGB in their specs to make it an easier comparison, but judging by proportion 120% sRGB would be around 92% Adobe RGB, which is pretty good. This huion 16 you mentioned might be interesting tho, I'm always cheking display tablets for the day when my cintiq 24hd craps out. But one thing you gotta give to wacom is the build quality. Positive reviews because they got a free Huion. These alternative companies basically have told me they want to review my review before I publish it, otherwise they won't send me a tablet. I'm not having the same issue with Wacom, they let me be honest and say what I want.

@@Mp_kyrie I apologize if it came off that way. I'm simply trying to spread some awareness. I'm 100% certain there are positive reviews for just about any tablet that are honest and not at all influenced by a 3rd party. But in my own recent experience, some companies have pretty much been telling me I have to get my review approved first before it can go live. That's concerning and highly unusual considering I have never experienced that attitude from Wacom and most other companies whose products I have reviewed. That leads me to the assumption that other influencers would have a very difficult time saying anything negative about a product. All I'm suggesting is that people take reviews with a grain of salt.

I own Huion Kamvas Pro 13. I'd say its not really comfortable. I dunno.. Maybe because im coming from pen tablet. And still not adapting to it But in term of precision, I like my pen tablet more. End up using it only for coloring for now, because I need to work fast. Still done sketch with old intuos CTL-480. If cintiq feel is similar to intuos, then I believe Kamvas Pro 13, is worse in term of "comfort" when you draw.

I've owned multiple Huion H610 pros over the past six years and got a GT-191 in late 2017. I started having issues with it less than half a year in, and after troubleshooting for WEEKS with no resolution, Huion offered to send me a replacement--IF I left a five star glowing review on Amazon. I've never had a Huion tablet last longer than a year. Most of them last only a few months. One came dead in the box. If a review is from an "unboxing" perspective or even just a few weeks or a month of use it's not going to reflect the problems that come with even short term use. After years of sinking money into Huion products I gave up and now have an Intuos Pro. I put off getting one for so long because they're so expensive and the alternatives were much more affordable. But you really do get what you pay for, and it's crap. I wouldn't trust any positive review of Huion tablets at face value; I don't think people are necessarily lying about their experiences, again, I just think the issues only show up over a longer term than most reviews reflect. I LIKED my GT-191 for the short time that it worked. But almost a year since Huion told me to leave them a good review if I wanted a replacement, I'm stuck with a $500 paperweight. If this budget Cintiq had been available back then, there wouldn't have been any contest about what to get.

How do you feel in regards to the color gamut compared to your Wacom Cintiq Pro model? I have used a Yiynova 19MSPU and a UGEE 22" HD in the past (at home and at work), and I constantly had to proof artwork on my iMac's screen to make sure it was accurate - both tablet monitors were impossible to get 'right' as far as color and brightness go. This summer I went back to a 'regular' Intuos Pro desktop tablet because I was tired of fighting that. (not to mention both of the cheapies have cable management nightmares).

Now to compare this to one similar from Huion. Hmmm.....This will decide whether I stick with Wacom or go for Huion. I already knew the other alternatives were less than favorable, despite the price. My second graphics tablet was an older model Wacom Bamboo pen tablet. Small thing, but lovely to use. Plus, unlike my Kanvus tablet (my first tablet with the battery powered pen), the company still supports the software for their now no longer in production tablets. So here's to hoping Huion can top this, because if they can't, I'm sticking to Wacom, for sure.

How bad is the parallax compared to older Cintiqs like 27 inch? Is it the same or something between old ones and Pro versions? And how bad are the colors compared to screens like macbook or iphone?

Can I use this as a normal tablet (like an Intuos I mean)? So use a 32" 4k display and use this as a normal Intuos like tablet and then as a Cintiq when I want to do direct sketching?

Yes. There is a display toggle button that can make the tablet active on your other displays.

So I was wondering, is the screen actually 15,6 or is it that the size of the entire tablet?? coz in that case, i'd really like to know how big the screen really is. thanks.

Going to buy a tablet (and laptop) soon and the 72% NTSC seems week for a creators tablet (I am a graphic and web designer like to paint and animate as well). Granted I don't even know the color numbers for the monitor I'm using now (and seems to do fine with print). It just seems like I should get more bang for my buck. I'll be plugging it into a Lenovo ThinkPad P52 Mobile Workstation with crazy good stats but the monitor on that is only %72 as well. I'm seriously considering the PRO version just for the better color (* bangs head on desk at the thought of spending so damn much *). I don't want to buy a new setup every year I want this to last me for 3 or 4 years at the least. I also want to be mobile so I can get out of my office to work if I want, I'm trying to grow as a designer and I don't want my gear to hold me back.

Thank god for this, Its about time wacom actually made a tablet without the useless features like those expresskeys (which I dont use) and touch (which I despise) to keep prices inflated.

This is great affordable cintiq finally. I have one issue though. Does anyoen know if they gonna make classic art pen pro version? This wacom pro pen 2 is too thick for my hands. I prefer thin profile of classic art pen.
