Wade Fishing for Redfish, Trout and Snook in the Indian River

In this Garmin VIRB episode, Josh joins Jayson Arman and Jason Luongo to go wade fishing in the Indian River Lagoon. We fished topwater lures at our first wade fishing spot as the sun was rising. Josh caught a Jack crevalle and a blue runner. Jayson caught the first speckled trout. The topwater bite slowed down, so we decided to move to a new spot. The bite was on fire at our second wade fishing spot. Josh hooked a huge gator trout, but the trout broke the leader and got away. Shortly after Josh hooked another nice speckled trout that was his personal best. Jason caught a nice snook from under the dock. Towards the end of our wading path, Josh caught a beautiful redfish from under a dock. We finished the day off catching jacks and trout. Overall we caught over 40 fish including 6 different species (speckled trout, snook, blue runner, Jack crevalle, redfish, and ladyfish).

Wading in the salt as you cast and hop from spot to spot is so much fun instead of waiting for a hit on the bait. I'm sure you've seen vids of wading in the backwaters and bays down your way and the surf up in the Northeast. It can become so addicting with lighter tackle as long as you are good about handling and playing the fish.

Good fishing trip! I love catching Redfish and Specs! Down on PC Beach where I use to live and caught them all in a drop-off at the end of a dock just as you guys were fishing! Mine were like 20-30 inches and one monster 27 inch Spec. Good times!

Great upload Josh! That trout doesn't look like any kind of trout I have seen (UK) Looks more like a sea trout (UK) cross a sea bass. Looks a very handsome fish though. Can you do a episode on reel sizes? You mentioned 3000 series in this vid, Heck I wouldn't no what that means! Just use ABU 9000 's for my fishing. Don't know how much line they hold or what kind of fish I catch on them. Had blue shark (small 100LB) with 30LB line and stand up sticks. A good episode on kit would be amaze balls. Don't want you to spit makes of reels just what the thousands mean. David

Do you recomend spooling spinning reels with mono backing, im not sure if i should spool my 6500 spinfisher with mono backing and braid or just braid and the same with my smaller size reels

+Kevin Moreno No I don't using mono backing. The new spinfishers all have a rubber piece on the spool. Tie your braid to that.

If I'm fishing off a pier what line and leader is best? The fish tend to swim under and grind the line on the pier supports and break me off, so I'm looking for abrasion resistance.

I use 50lb braid and 80lb leader. biggest tip tho when you hook a fish let it run away from the pier dont dead stick it in or it will have plenty of energy to swim under the jetty

i live around where ur visiting try by the ft pierce inlet. the Jensen beach causeway has some nice snook under it. a good bait shop is snook nook they will hook u up with shrimp
