I wanted to add a hat to mine so I added standoffs to fit the hat and changed out the fan to a quiet fan.

Is it a pressure sensitive resistive touch screen?

Pressure sensitivity is typically handled through a special pen over Bluetooth.

In this video, I was using TwisterOS ( link: twisteros.com/index.html ). But you could install a different OS if you'd like, PiOS, Ubuntu, etc. It didn't come pre-installed with the Pi, also this video was using the Pi4 and the Pi5 was released. Not sure if the Pi 5 will work with this screen, may need to use a Pi4. Sounds like an issue with the power supply, you may want to contact the seller for a replacement.

After this review I quickly picked one of these up for a brand new Pi 4b and both arrived in the mail today. So far it's been smooth sailing, except the touch screen calibration is way off. Do you have any recommendations?

I don't recall needing to calibrate my unit, you may want to reach out to the seller for an exchange if it's that bad.

Check with Enviciv, it was designed for the pi 4. However, I do have something coming soon that is designed with the Pi 5 in mind.

Can you add arcade controllers to this unit? I think this size screen and being able to rotate it is a better option than a monitor. I mean for mini bar top arcade.

Sure, you still have access to the USB ports on the side or you could use Bluetooth as well. Plenty of options.

I have the exact kit, so what about people like me who want to do the more permanent option and solder the wires to the Pi board? The instructions don't really explain or go into much detail, honestly almost none on the procedures and or process to solder those wires in. I'd rather not use the USB wire option as it just doesn't look professional and more so lazy.

Im wondering if a premade device could be added to the pi pinouts to provide an automated rotation of the screen.

It would require more than just adding a sensor, for the automatic touch rotation -I believe. Screen rotation wouldn't be too difficult, but for the touch aspect to work you'd likely need to dump the firmware built in to the display, decompile, modify the code to utilize the sensors, write it back. Likely not an easy task honestly. I may be wrong, but that would be my guess.

Thanks for the review!! I have gotten 2 units from the manufacturer and 3 different raspberry pi. Both units are the 1920 resolution and one version 1 (as shown in the review) and the newer version 2. Both pi 4s are a 4gb and an 8gb model. When you update the bootloader to as least the april 2022, these displays stop working with the Touchscreen plugged in. When you keep plugged in and boot up you will get and HID 1 error. You have to unplug the Touchscreen to get it to boot past this. Is anyone else having this problem??

Hi Mike, it's likely not an issue with the touch screen but a problem with the new bootloader. There is a thread here for posting issues like this: forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=329324 It would be great if you could make them aware of it.

I don't own a Series S myself, however it does have HDMI input capability, see 08:24 . It should work fine.

I got this one coming from ebay and a ugreen right angle usb c connecter. im gonna try to see if plugging it in to the pi 4 and routing it through the holes and hope it will enable me to use it with a power bank instead of dc barrel. It looks like it will work and the cable is a 60 watt cable so should be enough. If that dont work ill buy some barrel to usb cables.

Please see 02:06 , power requirements are 12v 2000mA. USB will typically only put out 5v.

Just checked, not available today still. Not sure if you've seen this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJfPZoSljb-Igq8 . It's not a 10.1" but rather 7" but the power requirements may be to your liking with the Pi power module. Just thought I'd send it along incase it's helpful to you.

I didn't encounter an issue myself, if everything is setup according to what you saw here you might have received a defective unit. May need to exchange it.

Sorry that has happened, I can't think of much else except if the two small PCBs that connect to the GPIO pins are missing a row of pins during assembly. That's about all I can see as a possibility, but if you've tried two different Pi's already it may just be a bad unit.
