My head-canon is that Cecilia's stats are so low when she joins despite being the Mage General because she survives being crit'd by Zephiel, and then joins you crippled immediately after. She was more powerful before joining, and the version that joins Roy's army is a her with like half her ribs still broken and such. Either that, or she leads more with wisdom & tactics rather than brute strength.

I think that she does have three less defence when she joins you, since I believe Zephiel has 39 might with his sword, so to take 29 damage like she does in the cutscene, you would need 10 defence, but she only had 7

Man, I was sure it was gonna be Isadora. I’ve always said that if you swapped Cecilia and Igrene’s join-times, both units would be seen in a better light. Cecilia would come into the game on a huge map where her movement shines and there are still some wyverns for her to snipe with her Aircalibur tome. Igrene would contribute much more in the desert chapter helping against the beefy wyvern lords, not to mention she’s the freaking guardian of the desert, it would make sense that she’d join in fighting… in the desert.

It's probably true that they'd both be seen as better even though Cecilia would be a worse unit. She'd miss out on 14x where she's pretty good as long as you don't put her in range of the boss or random Mercenary. And even in 14 I don't find her all that bad, she can find Boots t1 due to her starting position, there's a high demand for staff using and Aircalibur, and most of oyur units can't move more than 3 tiles anyway. And when you get to the Oasis she's got good move again.

Yeah sure, but it would make more sense if she actually came out and helped Roy against the Bern invasion forces. I think she could do a whole lot more protecting out there than sitting on her ass inside the water temple.

I find the “use as many different classes as you can” strategy is extremely wise for a first-time blind playthrough when you have no idea which classes and skills are going to be useful and what things the game will throw at you, so you maximize the variety of tools you have to win. Past that obviously you’ll learn some strategies and skills and classes are better than others and focus on those, but for a first-time player there’s nothing whatsoever dumb about diversifying your army as much as possible.

I don't have think the issue is that people don't want to deploy two of a class, it's that people only have so many deploy slots. In FE6 I've ended up benching some of my favorite characters like Lugh and Raigh simply because I ran out of room (and, to some degree, because I didn't have a Guiding Ring for them.) It's worth noting that in SoV, this issue doesn't exist; Boey is seldom criticized for being redundant to Mae, Kamui is seldom criticized for being redundant to Saber, and Deen and Sonia are not criticized for being members of the same classes as most of Celica's army. When this is criticized, it's just an issue of available classes. This is because SoV allows you to deploy all units, up until the final map. I also think that it has to do with visual variety. Watching Paladin Animations over and over is a lot less fun than seeing the large variety of animations that Fire Emblem has to offer, especially in the GBA games.

​ J.I A unit can be "redundant" if they bring nothing to the army. Say I have three deployment slots in a map. I'll need a healer, a front-liner to deal with the army of swordmasters I can see from my deploy menu who all have overlapping attack range (so it'll probably need to be a really beefy general) and a fast unit that can go over terrain quickly to get that village up there before the bandit gets to it on turn 3. So I've got my Wyvern Lord, my General, and my best healer. Redundancy here means "doubling up on a role already filled when some other roles needs filling." This was a simplification for the purpose of argument, but it underscores why a sub-par member of a class can be "redundant" when you have someone better. If I need a lot of things that a Paladin can't do well (like eat lots of magic damage or one-round an army of Wyvern Lords on enemy phase) then I'm going to have to bring units that do those things. So by the end, you look at your loadout and go "Okay, and I've got space for one more paladin/valkyrie. Because Paladins/valks are useful in general, I'd be stupid not to bring at least one, but because all my other slots are filled by role-players, I'll just bring my best one. Sorry, second-best member of the best class in the game, you get the bench."

@Jett Lucas Hayes No, I'm not. But if, when deploying, you see that you have 1fewer deployment slot than expected and you have to drop someone, make sure you have met all the requirements asked by the map before you fill the other slots with paladins and valkyries

Thanks for this video Mekkah. I have lost the count of the number of times I had to explain people how Cecilia can be extremly useful on any playthrough, because she have an unmatched amount of utility purposes that nobody can completaly mimic (except Clarine, and even she needs an absurd amount of babying to have all the utility Cecilia has at base). Just to add more information, let's talk about chapter 24, the second to last chapter in the game. What does this chapter have? Manaketes, lots of them, and also long 1 tile wide corridors, and reinforcements coming from behind, and SEVEN thrones to seize with Roy, and for some reason Fae is forced to be deployed too. From that we know that this chapter requires the player to constantly move fowards, and that someone will get badly injured on the way. So an unit who have high movement, high Aid, can Canto after rescuing, and who can heal allies is really valuable. And guess what, Cecilia can do all that, at base, and if you decide to do some small investment on her, things can only get better.

Yeah, everyone can have 15 move at this point, but a horse is still pretty valuable though, and that's why Cecilia is one of the best candidates for eating those boots (after your main killers, of course, you still need units capable of killing enemies relliably after all).

Ah Cecilia, the best example of a unit being saved by their class as mounted healers may be the in the top three best class types. Cecilia is definitely not helped by her starting chapter but like you said after that it's almost always smooth sailing from there, Staves are ridiculously good so having a unit that requires little to no effort to get access to good staves is very much appreciated, I've seen her and Clarine carry entire playthroughs before thanks to their class.

But the big questions are: why on earth did they give you Cecilia on the (only) map, where she is literally useless? And why does the game try to convince you so hard, that she is supposed to be bad? And why is there music playing in the cutscene battle with Zephiel, even if you turned off the music in the options? (and yes that's not even a joke) It just feels like the developers were trolling (wouldn't be the first time)

I agree, Cecilia is fantastic. 8 move staves is just so versatile and useful, especially with the map design of FE6 being bloated and mount demanding, with tough enemies for her to chip, or chunk with Air-conditioning.

I'm actually playing my first Fe6 run, and having 2 horse healeres is a blessing. Cecilia gets bad level ups, but is reliable to kill damaged units, and has support with Lilina

2 years late but an order is an order. I still have reservations about using more than one of the same class on my team and am a bit of a fanatic about making sure all S rank (or SS for RD) weapons have a user on my team. During my first 2 play through a of RD I never brought the laguz royals into the tower because I wanted all legendary weapons in play. Needlessly to say, I am turning away from my old ways but I do notice them impacting my decision making quite often. Noticing how useful it is to use multiple paladins in FE6 has caused me to open my eyes. Even when I was young and foolish, I did make a single exception to the one of each class rule… Pegasus knights, solely for triangle attack because regardless of how impractical it is, it is so cool that it makes it worth it.

To answer your question on team composition: Having a diverse army is the most fun and interesting thing to do. Especially on a first, casual playthrough, you want to upgrade all of the characters and see all of the classes and their animations and learn everything you can. Secondly, the story itself, especially in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, promote diversity and tend to push you into the thinking that having a hugely diverse group is giving you an advantage over your opponents, who would never be willing to work alongside people with differing opinions/worldviews than them. Plus it's basically a given that if you're playing FE, you've probably played Pokemon.

Cecilia is a fantastic unit. Her great staff ranks. Mounted. Joins mid-way into the game. She’s pretty good. I hate her character is all. Chapters 13 and 14 don’t do her any favors tho. Her stats aren’t great but it’s her weapon levels that make her good. As I said, I absolutely can’t stand her character. Great analysis, btw.

RPG Dude You realize that 95% of characters in most games don’t play a major role in the story. And Cecilia’s importance to the story is more indirect. Her backstory is what makes her important. She’s Roy’s teacher and mentor. She is responsible for Roy’s tactical knowledge. She is far more important to the story than say, Hinoka from Fates or a less easy target, Tanith from Fe9. She plays a very important role in her country, but had next to no story importance. She has about as much as Cecilia. Story prevalence is not the end all be all of character quality in Fe. If this was the case then 95% of the cast would be considered terrible.

+RPG Dude She's not useless to her country, she's held in high regard and is able to lead a competent counterattack against Narcian, and trains Roy in the art of leading an army, and he eventually succeeds in overcoming all. Those chapters are simply meant to illustrate how strong Zephiel is. I'd say the opposite, I hate how weak she is in gameplay compared to how she is portrayed in lore, I'd rather it make more sense and keep her strong but unrecruitable.

Haha, the one time I've completed FE6 was when I was still in my "Ewww filthy prepromotes" - phase. Playing FE6 on Hard mode is still on my bucket list and I do have a pretty good feeling that I'm going to put Cecilia to some good use when that time comes.

If there's one Fire Emblem game to completely remove prepromote stigma, it's FE6. Niime, Marcus, and Perceval are eternal top-tier residents, and Zelot, Echidna, Bartre, Cecilia, Klein, Yoder, and Igrene are all pretty good. Meanwhile, most of the unpromoted cast has a really hard time gaining levels (unless you're Rutger or Melady), so a prepromote is something you tend to need just to stay alive. I would say the only one that I would totally advise against using is Juno, because her stats are just that poor and you probably aren't hurting for strong fliers if you recruited her to begin with.

The weird thing about FE6 is that it has Perceval, who with hard mode bonuses completely outpaces Lance and Alan, the two otherwise best paladin candidates in the entire game. Perceval has all of this with zero investments, and he can still grow even stronger, it's just so weird to think about.

The reason class by class comparisons are fine is because it allows people to detail the niches that two units can fill. When I compare Sully and Stahl and say that Sully kills things better while Stahl has better bulk and defensive capabilities, I am not saying to use only one; I am describing what makes them unique. I agree that using only one of each class is a pitfall, but I think your umbrage against comparing two units of similar or the same classes is a little extreme.

If Binding Blade gets a remake, I think I would push her join time a bit back but increase her base stats a bit (respectfully: +3 magic, +2 Speed, +2 Skill, +2 Luck and +1 to defence). Also, increase her staff rank to A or B. I would increase her growth rates in which I would increase by 10 across the board.

She should get a much higher growth in speed, it's bizarre how a typically fast class has only base 10 speed and 25% speed growth, which is even worse than Sophia's growth and almost as bad as Barth's speed growth.

Definitely a good video! I remember using Cecilia a lot on my first playthrough of FE6 and making the initial assumption that she was terrible based on her stats alone, but she proved me wrong and was a valuable asset. For the next waifu, I'd love to see another overrated unit. Path of Radiance Nephenee, maybe?

I'd like to add that Cecilia is just 3 speed away at base from doubling most manaketes in the final chapter at base, so if you want to drop Speedwings on her, she can kill them rather reliably provided that she levels speed once. When Cecilia joins she outclasses Clarine big time. It doesn't matter if you're unhittable if your magic stat is terrible for healing/combat and you start with E anima after promoting. I normally don't promote Clarine and just sell her Guiding Ring for gold to buy killer lances and other good stuff. Cecilia is by far the best anima user in the game, and one of the best healers overall.

People used to say that Clarine is better than Cecilia, but tbh I've always preferred Cecilia over her. Not only does she look better (in my opinion), she doesn't need a guiding ring, she starts with amazing weapon ranks, her average magic stat will always be higher than Clarine's of the same level, all kinds of pros overall. I think my only grievance with Cecilia would be her low speed growth, which doesn't make much sense to me, since she represents a naturally fast class, but whatever, can't win it all I guess.

I'm a strong 1-of-each-class style favoring player.. I started with FE6 on release when I got my hands on a pirated physical copy of the game, so I can say I've been around for a while. Fire Emblem is generally less challenging but also less pleasing if played strictly for efficiency. Archers tend to be kind of stupid in Fire Emblem. There's no reason not to replace them with mages in your armies, but if you bench all your archers then you'll never get to see your own character's bow animations, you'll never have to work around the weakness of archers, or the excitement of seeing your archer dodge for his life.

I do like having one of each class or type, just because of personal preference, I am not as blind to see the benefits of choosing the right units rather than what I feel like going, so I wholeheartedly agree with your unit reviews in general.

One of the few exception usually is pegasus knights to make triangle attacks, lol. That probably paints the picture perfectly. I do need to get into harder games, I mostly just played fe7 and 8, I didn't feel like there was a need for perfect composition on those games.

My last playthrough I made it a point to use characters I wouldn't normally use/have patience for like Zeiss, Niime, Barth and Cecilia. Cecilia was good for the solo healer staff bot. She was ready to go right out the gate 👍

Thanks for sharing. I don’t believe they’re overrated or underrated, but I think Elincia, Mist, and Ike are kind of interesting. Being able to heal and canto seems sort of neat, and Ike’s special skill and special weapon are kind of cool. Also, Ike is necessary for a few boss fights.

While I dont believe in 1of every class, there are further considerations of such sort. While Hawkeye doesnt immediately invalidate Dartz as a unit, how much do I really want 2 infantry axe units that are tricky to rescue? Even if training fir with endless pirates is easy enough, why would I ever feel the need to have more than 1 rutger when its at times hard to justify 1 rutger as is? GBA emblem is extrabad in this regard because for example using Dorcas will actively make it harder to use Bartre out of sheer increased hero crest demand. While sane is also true between Guy and Raven, the point stands and gets worse with the heavy demands classes like paladin. Yes I would like to use all of lowen sain and kent but one of them is going to get the shaft so to say in late knight crest and fuck me if i also want oswin on the dragon's gate. Another case is edward who might have good promoted offense with lacking bulk, something both sothe and zihark fullfill as is. Why would I put the effort into eddy when I frankly have all the "swordmaster utility" I need as is? Granted clarine vs cecilia or even erk vs pent is completely different but there is real considerations for how many of 1 class or rather type of utility is too many, and often enough the answer IS im solid with my 1 hawkeye thank you very much.

You don't have to promote every unit. Feel free to use multiple units of the same class if it makes a chapter easy though. Hawkeye's pretty bulky albeit a bit slow and good though. I would recommend you to use him. The game's beatable even if you use only prepromotes even at HHM( a loads of players did this).

Dropping this comment to say one of Cecilia's selling points imo is that she's a prepromote. If you're the average FE player, you'd probably use your Guiding Rings on Lugh, Raigh or Lilina if you missed the secret shop. So you only have two at most to promote your healers, but do most want to do that when they can compare stats and go "Oh! Insert Mage Here's a much better candidate for this than Insert Healer Here!" I personally missed the secret shop in the Narcian chapter and had to promote Clarine in the first Ilia chapter. Having a second promoted healer really helps, especially since she can fend for herself if needed.

I been playing through Binding Blade with a few tweaks on my end (Thief>Rogues Promotion, 3 Theif Locked Throwing weapons, Brigands, Pirates, and Theives sharing a promo item*) I used both Cecilia and Clarine for my mounted crew on larger maps (Lance+Alan+Sue+Maybe Percival). I use her for rescue/trade chains like your said. I also mitigate Cecilia's bad growths by treating her like a Jiegan, allowing her to do chip damage for Clarine or Sue. If I wanted Cecilia to shine a little bit more, I actually would've had another map like the one she get attacked by Zephial. The caveliers on the Northern bridge had me bouncing back and fourth with Rescue/Dance Chains. *I wound up adding thieves to the Hero Crest Promo List, but I expanded the item list in FEbuilder added a "Pardon Seal." but I couldn't get the new item to work. Instead I gave The Purple Haired Thief Laurens that comes at level 10 a Hero Crest to be only used by Theives/Brigands and considered the Crest that comes with the Pirate to be the same. I wound up promoting Laurens and Gonzalez.

Not gonna lie, I've found a new found appreciation of Cecilia in my fe6 normal mode play through I'm doing right now (to unlock hard mode of course) where she's gotten to warp rank,and she's gotten like 3-4 def and res level UPS in a row. Though,even if she doesn't become a wall like mine did, c rank staffs are pretty decent to join with,and a rank anima gives her decent options,and makes the crawl to forblaze less slow. Overall I like Cecilia.

Man, I don't know if I fully agree with this. She might be a little more useful than most people think but not by that much. Other healers will have a higher staff rank by Cecilia's join time. Units like Ellen, Saul, or Clarine should already be able to use a libro staff whereas Cecilia has to waste time grinding her staff rank. Lugh or Lilina are going to have way more combat uitility, as well as a higher magic stat which means more HP recovered from a heal or mend. Hell, Lilina's amazing magic growth pretty much guarantees a near full heal with a mend staff. The other healers are also going to get more distance out of staves like warp, berserk, or sleep. Cecilia's supports are useful, especially the one with Percival but any of the early healers and either of the mages have had plenty of time to get their supports already by the time Cecilia joins. Some of them support really good units too like Clarine supporting Rutger and Ellen supporting Lugh. Cecilia using anima magic is helpful for sure but she has pitiful combat stats in a game with a large amount of druids and wyverns. She requires a lot of babying to make sure she doesn't melt. When I used her she felt like a Clarine that I couldn't trust to survive, especially in the late game. Cecilia's high movement and mount are definitely points in her favor though that the sages and other healers (except for Clarine) are going to lack. I see Cecilia as a substitute unit. If you've lost Saul, Ellen, or Clarine then Cecilia is a good unit to fill the void. But she isn't exactly free since she's eating a deployment slot that could be spent on a more potent healing unit or a sage that has better combat potential. I guess if you truly value the movement and mounted utilities on a healer she's usable. She's not bottom of the barrel-tier bad but meh.

@@Mekkkah With how many subs you've gotten I'm surprised you had the time to reply :) I watched the video but some of those feel like pretty glaring weaknesses that really hurt her. You could use multiple healers who are better at healing or combat though, they'll have a higher rank staves and the mages will be better. Two of them will also give you light magic which is effective against the large amount of shamans and druids in the game. They'll be better at dodging incoming attacks as well and have had time to build supports. So why not use Saul, Clarine, and Lugh? I'm not saying Cecilia doesn't have use but you can use multiple healers that aren't Cecilia and they'll ultimately be better at their jobs minus the movement and mount.

but you get only 1 guiding ring, before cecilia joins. You'll get the next one in the same chapter, but you have to wait a lot for the third one. And on average no unpromoted healer has as much magic as cecilia (even at lvl 20). But like mekkah already explained, you dont need that much magic on a healer. You don't need someone who can heal everyone full with mend, if you have recover(which cecilia can use). Important is how fast your healer can reach the wounded unit and cecilia is with 8 mouvement way better than saul or ellen with 6, or 5 mouvement. Cecilia is nearby two times as fast as them unpromoted. Of course its bad that she cant use physic, or warp, or the sleep staff, but you normally have just one physic, one sleep and one warp for most of the game. And you can improve her staff rank, while someone like lugh or lilina starts with E in Staff after they promote. And i dont remember a chapter with many shamans, or druids can you say about which you are talking about?

I completed an iron man of this game the other week and I fielded Cecilia only in 21 and 23 because I had the extra slots but in pretty much all the other chapters I used Lilina, Saul, and Clarine and all of my healing needs were easily met. I think Cecilia's biggest drawback is the fact that she eats a deployment slot. In Mekkah's iron man I remember him complaining about not having enough deployment slots on some chapters. And you already have a bunch of viable healers that you've been able to invest in for longer. Onto your points though. The guiding rings are a valid point for sure and I don't think I'd fault someone for using Cecilia for that reason. However you have a libro staff by the time you get her and can promote Saul or Ellen at the end of that chapter. Since Cecilia can't use libros anyway let's suppose that you give that staff to Saul or Ellen. You have a bishop with 6 movement, light magic, and a libro as well as Clarine with more utility, more useful supports, and better combat capabilities (especially with the Rutger support). It does eat a guiding ring that could go to Lugh or Lilina though so I guess this is personal preference. I'll admit that the staff grinding on Cecilia isn't as bad as I initially thought since libros are in fairly short supply until the late game. She still requires significant staff grinding to get access to the best staves in the game. She's also a terrible candidate to be using berserk or sleep staves with that poor magic stat. Her warping ability if her rank gets high enough for them is going to be disappointing too. The game is peppered with shamans all over and druids in the late game. There's no real specific chapter I can point to and go this one has all the shamans, there's just a good number of them in general and you have no unpromoted unit that can use light magic against them. I'm pretty sure I remember Mekkah commenting on the number of them during his iron man. Most magic users you fight in the western isles are shamans. Having a light magic wielding Ellen or Saul is quite useful against them. Not necessary but nice to have. The late game druids though are my real concern with Cecilia and especially on the Sacae chapters. She also has basically no hope against the nomadic troopers on that route either. I'll concede she's more than a substitute after looking into the resources like guiding rings and libro staffs a little more but I still think she gets outclassed. If your army composition frees up that deployment slot and makes her better to use for you then more power to you but I don't see myself using her very much.

@@KillMePlease680 I think you're severely overplaying the benefits of having light magic for fighting shamans/druids. Dark magic hit rates are pretty awful and shamans/druids don't exactly have consistently great skill either with the druids in chapter 22 for example, having as low as like 12-13 skill which is abysmal at that point in the game. Not to mention that even the early game druids have like 14-15 res, getting as high as like 22-23 by the late game, and considering that the only buyable light magic is the pathetically weak lightning until you get to 20 ilia or 19 sacae, which is when divine becomes available, saul and ellen aren't going to fare much better than you would just throwing rutger, miledy or shanna at them. Not to mention that saul/ellen/clarine don't even have great magic either unless you're 20/20ing them and considering that saul/ellen want to promote asap so they can start warp skipping everything from chapter 14 onwards, and clarine wants to promote asap for 8 movement, their magic won't be that high on average either to make good use of the aforementioned status staves you brought up. Lilina is just bad and lugh falls off hard after the early game once you get into the western isles because other units aren't struggling to damage enemies at that point which was one of lugh's main niches, since enemy res is so low compared to defense. Supports aren't factored in when evaluating units against one another because unless it's something obscenely fast like roy/lilina, then there's almost no chance you'll build any of them unless you're just end-turn spamming which is non-argument because all it does is strip the individuality from the characters in the game and put them on a level playing field, and that point, you're basically indirectly saying characters like wendy/sophia are good because they can be leveled in the arena until they become serviceable.

Cecilia is the best example for a great support unit. If you have a free deployment slot, she is definitly the best choice, 8 move, Rescue utility, Chip damage if you need it and the most important aspect, her staff utility. I would have given her slightly better bases tho just to reflect her position as the mage general and to make her slightly more powerful, because she should be pretty strong storywise. Something like +2 magic, +1 or 2 speed, a res buff of 3 or 4 points and a higher skill stat ( to match pents high skill base as the mage general ).

I know I'm really late to the party, but something else I feel bears mentioning: another positive is that Cecilia is promoted, giving her access to S-ranks and some growing room. In FE6, unless you know where the secret shop is and save up enough money, Guiding Rings are at a *serious* premium. While there's nominally four in the game to go around the eight units that can use them, only the first is easily given to you. The second can be very easily missed if you don't know where it is, the third comes a bit later into the game and needs to be stolen or paid for, and the last is so late it has to be a sick joke on IS's part (the *second-last boss* drops it - if a unit isn't doing well then, promoting for the endgame won't help). So that's two if you're paying attention, three if you know what you're doing. So the fact Cecilia's already promoted means you can use her as a mounted staffbot and promote some magical powerhouses, instead of having to double- or triple-up on healers just so you can promote Clarine to give you magic on a horse.

Regardless, I love using her, and having her be my go-to unit as roy's romantic partner is just really fun for me. Thanks for this waifu episode, mekkah! To be honest, I like deploying at least one of most classes just because it can spice the game up a little. It gets kind of dull to have 6 paladins running around everywhere. I don't do it because it's better, just because it's neat to use different types of units.

I'm playing fe6 for the first time and Cecilia is one of my favorite units. Also I'm using Clarine and Cecilia at the same time because two valkyries is wonderful Also I think she and Clarine are great choices for boots. Having a staff user that can get anywhere in the army is just great.

I agree with not hesitating to deploy multiple of the same type of unit, but multiple healers? IDK about that because then that's multiple units who can't actually... do anything to the enemy. Though with her being a troubador she does get offensive magic so that's fine. I just never get two people TO that point, so could only do it in games where I get a prepromote (or in 3 houses where all mages can both heal and attack and there's no real reason to not get them faith magic because, if nothing else, Gremory is sick.)

I used Cecilia in my hard mode run in her join chapter and she was decent , plus she’s free on that map . But I didn’t start using her again until ch 22 I think in the sacae route ( the one you fight the swordmaster Gel) . And guess what ? Base Cecilia was able to contribute and I didn’t have to protect her any more than Saul . She could survive a wyvren attack at base and deal a lot back with air caliber and assist with restore , barrier , and mending . I kept using her from that point and she was useful

I think FE6 is different from FE7, and most people played FE7 first. FE7 had much smaller maps, fewer units, and generally higher-stat units, so the staff utility wasn’t nearly as impactful. Going from 7 to 6, warp/rescue, barrier, and recover are far more viable and necessary, horses make the giant maps feel more reasonable, and you actually need high staff ranks to use helpful items. I still love using one unit of each class because i like the different animations, but i have no aversion to using multiple cavaliers, mostly because they’re true only units you get easy multiples for :P

Okay, it's Game Theory time: They weren't being weirdly disrespectful to Cecilia, they were just doing that thing where the big boss is two levels above the heroes. Cecilia is Roy's sensei and owns Narcian, who is the main acting antagonist for a long time in this game. She owns him so hard that he couldn't beat her in what seems like weeks, and then Zephiel beats her with one strike. And Cecilia survives the attack that killed Hector, so that also qualifies as a badass moment with context. The common headcanon that Cecilia is fighting while hurt for the rest of the game works with this theory as well.

I always use at least two cavs, mages are fantastic imo I love Hugh and Lilina is a personal prefrence, at least two fliers in miledy and shanna and it's very easy to just slap zeiss or thea on there due to amazing utility. Rutger or Fir, depending on who got better growths before ch14, and I love me some merc action with Deke or the amazing unit in the form of Echidna and at that point I find it really hard to stick a healer in there at all xd this is an example of needing to vary classes because you want to differ your utility as mcuh as possible for adaptibility.

Currently in the middle of Iron Manning this game and Cecilia will for sure be a part of my core army when she joins. Clarine levels up too slow to realistically promote in time and Guiding Rings are in pretty stiff competition between Saul and the other mages. I used to think Cecilia was garbage but recently as I've been consuming more FE content I'm beginning to realize the value of units outside of 20/20 stats and combat.

But I do like to at least have one person who can get an S in every weapon type, and if you repeat classes that becomes less likely, unless it's like "Sword paladin and Lance Paladin" since most people will only have one weapon trained by the time they promote

If you look closely at Cecilia's portrait: she has asymmetrical eye socket positioning and a beard. And yet, this circus freak is still a better choice for Roy to marry than Lilina (remember that to get the best ending: Lilina needs A support with Marcus and B with Roy while Roy needs A with Cecilia).

My problem with her is clarine is just so much more useful, you get her early on and can easily train her up, once she promotes she can actually fight, same with saul, yeah she has utility but I use other mounted units for that stuff too.

I donno, I've never really been the best fan of having more then one unit type on my team, but it more-so comes down to game, and team construction. For the most part, keeping one of every weapon type is a good idea in most cases, so you have a good selection of weapons for each available class. But that's not to say that your going to use a unit just to fufill it. If I have all bases covered by useable units -not Rolf from PoR or someone like that-, then sure, bring up whoever else of whatever other class is out there.

Unless I'm doing a ranked run or something, I like having different classes deployed for the variety. They each play differently and that variation adds more fun for me, even if it isn't the most efficient or "best" way to play. I like building "My" army, so to speak.
