You were wrong in saying that the Guarani part was colonized by 1836, i am argentina and i could said you to search about "La conquista del chaco" it started at 1870 and ended at 1938. And the Paraguayan part of the Chaco was not colonized until very close to the final date

But i would love that the amount of mines and oil wells is dependant on the tech and the dificulty of the resource, for example a province that at x tech 1 has 0 mines max, at x tech 2 has 10 mines max and at x tech 3 has 125 mines max, making so feel like the resource was there in big quantities, but it wasnt as accesible.

Hey Ludi, I have almost exclusively played SA and Central American nations so far in Victoria 3. I've found that population increases can be pretty easily "exploited" by taking land from extremely high pop areas overseas. For instance, Afghan or Sikh Empire have Millions and Millions of pops. When they are annexed the standard of living in those states will be extremely low and the pops will migrate in massive quantities to your homeland states. Doing this has allowed me to get SA countries to Billions in GDP before the 1900's. This is a really easy way to get around low pop runs.

Actually, the Chaco as indigenous land is well represented, until 1870 neither Argentina, nor Paraguay, nor Bolivia had control over that area. This caused conflicts between the 3 nations that were solved in the Paraguayan War, and in the Chaco War. The territory was not conquered because of political instability and because this would entail going to war with the rest of the countries that claimed the territory, Territory that was already recognized by the European powers as part of Spain but not exactly to which of the new nations it belonged. The same thing happened with Patagonia, foreign powers knew that it was claimed by Argentina or by Chile, and these countries would take any external attempt to colonize as an invasion of their territory, as in the case of the French and their attempt to create a kingdom of the araucania

Thanks for clearing that up. I actually didn't know. I assumed because on maps of the 1830s Argentina had control over the region it was fully integrated, but I assume the reality was it was basically a claim without actual control over the areas as you said above!

Argentina used to use maps including the reclamations on Chaco, Patagonia and some other not very well defined territories such as Misiones and the Andes. That was the cause of so many wars in all of Latin America during those years, Spain never had real control over many of these territories, rather only the territorial claim recognized by other powers, when Spain left, the new countries began to fight over the claims.that is why very regularly you will see very contradictory maps of the time, since each country used to paint their maps with their own claims. The last conflict of this style was between Peru and Ecuador in the 40s for their crusade claims in the amazon, although they continued to have conflicts even in the 90s.

I studied history in Spain and a lot of stuff about South America after independence wars is extremely contradicting, spain having one version and other countries another xD. It is normal though, for the situation of that time it's something that would have been hard to settle really, namely the borders and correct definitions when the countries were literally at the start of their adventures ^^

The iron bonus in Santa Cruz when there is no iron isn't unique. There is a sulfur bonus in Florida but no sulfur, and Southern Manchuria has the Natural Harbors bonus while being landlocked :p And that's just the ones I ran into so far, I haven't looked at every single state, I bet there's more.

Argentina is actually one of the hardest in the early and really fun nations to play. It's a blessing by a lot of gold mines (in Chile and Arcu) and with basically no industrial and small pop in the early game, it is easy to increase the power of the interest group you want to be powerful.

Argentina it's fairly well represented in his control of the territory here. Until 1870-80 it doesn't control big portions of the Chaco region, Pampas (including chunks of Buenos Aires) and all the Patagonia. This is because the population was very small and the economy very weak until the big european migrations and the kick off of the agrarian exports in the last quarter of the XIX century. Worst was his political situation with intermitent civil wars until 1852 and violent political unrest until 1880. Sorry, I'm an annoying history teacher.

I do understand why you don’t get militia law early. It’s insanely powerful - a lot better than professional army for small nations. It gives you access to a huge amount of units which have the same stats as the professionals and you do not have to pay them in peace time. On the down side when you are at war it costs a tons because your weapon industry is not set up to support that many units. So you need to import most of your weapons.

You can intercept a naval invasion by putting a fleet guarding the coastline or however the mission is called. You can't intercept armies moving to an already established front though. You can starve them out raiding convoys.
