Walnut: I always had two theories surrounding why Aerith wasn't protecte by the planet. My first is that Sepheroth, like Aerith, is also tied to the Cetra, and maybe how it protects the party before, doesn't work in this situation. The second option, and the most likely in my thoughts, is that Aerith knew she was going to die. It was her death that served as a catalyst to power the white materia to save the planet. She isn't saved by the planet, because her sacrifice was needed to protect the planet later, kind of like...condensing her life force as a cetra tied with the life stream to make a brand new kind of materia.

Walnut. The planet needed Aerith to be part of it. One: to help it fight off and/or weaken the Sephiroth inside it. Two: to help give her and itself the power to cast Holy. The life stream knew that having Aerith be part of it was an important piece of the bigger picture. She possibly was meant to help work as a white blood cell for the planet to help with the infection (Geostigma) that was/is Sephiroth.

Walnut. I believe that Sephiroth being half alien in his genetics. The planet recognized that and noticed it as an invader of some type(possibly confused him being part ancient/part malevolent invader) and Aeris being connected to the lifestream knew that she needed to die, because all relics eventually break. And the past disappears.

Walnut. I think that the Lifestream knew that the best way to ultimately save the planet was for Aerith to die. Biblical parallel, at least in my observation. It was nice to see a new video on this channel, man! I've enjoyed Console Chronicles, but it's great to see something again here.

Walnut. I was thinking on how Aerith had to pray for Holy to be activated by the planet. But then again, the Weapons activated to counter the threat facing the planet. When you look at it, maybe the planet considered human life in general to be the threat. The Weapons did attack the party, not just Shinra. So maybe from the planet’s perspective, all human life was the threat to it’s peace and stability, including Aerith even with her being a member of the Cetra. Which could explain why the planet made no effort to protect the last of the Ancients(who were supposed to at one with the planet) and her being the only one able to summon Holy. You’d think the planet would intervene to protect the one Cetra left who’s trying to protect the planet itself from destruction..but again, if humans are the threat themselves..maybe the weapons were activated to eradicate all human life.

Walnut. Regarding the content, since it is a world where you can use magic to stop time, I won't be too serious about this tiny "plot hole"...

Sephiroth's attack had already been chosen, you can't stop time until the next turn.

I always assumed that the reason the life force was able to protect the planet from that walnut in the sky is that all Aerith is able to command the lifestream once inside. This would be a trait all Cetra can do, but longer in the stream the more used to it the others have become. That was how you pray for Holy, you pray to the past Cetra in the lifestream to give your materia the power, I guess kind of similar to ffx and praying to the Fayth.

Black Walnut. I was more happy just to hear your delivery of FF content again, despite it being a bit of a tired subject. My answer is that the lifestream is more concerned with protecting the world itself rather than saving lives. I mean, the lifestream would exist even if humans and cetra were extinct right?

Also just to settle it: Cloud was just rebound after Zack, Cloud was still in an identity crisis when he dated Aeris, and once he regained his identity he naturally goes back to his childhood love. Yeah I said Aeris. Do something about it.

That was not a bad script. It was shorter than your typical theory videos which I enjoy immensely. It served as an introduction to the question but it seems, as typical of AI, not to contain original research nor a strong thesis. AI seems to do better at summarizing than at persuasive arguments. Walnut. Maybe she needed to die to be able to enter the life stream, she has more power and able to summon holy. If she didn't die maybe holy never gets summoned and the planet gets destroyed.

Side comment: you know how I know FFIV is the best FF? Because Demon Wall shows up everytime they need a ridiculous boss to prevent progress. Love it. and it all started in IV

Walnut. The script is not bad, pretty good, actually. Which is why I hate it, AI should be used to find cures for diseases. Leave the creative stuff to humans. As for the theory, if the Lifestream saved everyone who is about to die, then the cycle of life and death would cease. The reason for the life stream stopping metero at the end is because THAT would have destroyed everything, including the lifestream. Is this reallyy something that has been debatede for years? I never heard this before.

No it hasn’t been debated for years lol, I left that part of the script in to illustrate that sometimes AI just simply gets it wrong. I had to throw away an entire script before this one because the entire foundation of the video was completely false
