Once I served a table with two young students (guy and girl), obviously they were good friends. It was at a student bar and I was studing myself. After a few drinks I came to their table again and the girl asked me if I was single and I said yes and asked "why?" "Oh, great, my friend here is also single and I think you'd be totally his type" While she was talking to me I noticed that the guy had only eyes for her and looked devastated. I asked her if she was single and when she responded yes, I said "oh great, I think you would totally be his type - why aren't you getting together?" His eyes lighted up and he gave me a big smile and nodded. She was like "nah, we're just friends..." I responded "you should try it, maybe you'd be a perfect match" and left the table. A few drinks later they were making out like crazy at their table and I felt like amor. A few drinks after that I saw them sitting there, the girl talking serious and the guy looked defeated. The evening ended with her vomiting and the guy caring for her and bringing her home. - poor friendzone guy (Sorry for any mistakes, I'm not native in english)

Nah, I am not a big fan of the term "Friendzone", despite probably having been there before. Now that I think about it, I haven't been there entirely. Back to why I don't like it: I believe it is a term made by grudge-holding people, mostly moody guys, who feel resentment when their feelings are not reciprocated, WHEN IN FACT, your feelings don't entitle you to anything, as the other person is precisely that, a human being. The feelings are just not reciprocated at all. Take it, move on and, as Arianna Grande says: Thank you, NExt. I don't even like Arianna at all, however this phrase makes a lot of sense. Take Hal from Megamind. Boy, did I hate his NiceGuy Simp demeanour in which when he's rejected, he throws a fit and throws a temper tantrum. If I hate him, that means his character is well-built and properly created.

I overheard alot of what they said since they sat very close to the till area and it was generally a quiet day. They had the usual first date conversation topics like what do you do for a living, what are your goals in ln life etc (they were like 20) At some point, the guy mentions that he likes video games and for the next 40 minutes he goes on and on about fallout lore like a tape recorder set to fast forward. The girl could not look more uninterested and barely even answered him alot of the time while being on her phone under the table They eventually get up to leave (i think she arranged fake emergency to get out) he goes straight in for a hug but she just steps back and offer a handshake instead. I went on a date with my now ex gf back in my senior year of high school to a Texas Roadhouse. For some background we dated from our sophomore year until last year and she was usually a nice person but was very sexual so often. Anyway we were at the restaurant with some friends and she was sitting next to me. While we were waiting on food she caressed my private area above the pants and I stopped her before she could go any further. That happened a few times over our relationship and was one of the reasons why I broke up with her

I don't know if I would have had the guts to do that but props to the OP. 13:50 and this one turned out to be unexpectedly wholesome 22:25 reminded me that I used to be alot less social than I am now and I wasn't a conversationalist at all (in college I felt so bad that I couldn't hold a conversation for long) and sometimes instead of my phone I'd just bring a book even on family reunions taking place on a restaurant, a bit awkward to say the least. 27:34 or never as the other comment said, I used to laugh at those back in an all-boys high school (so it was prison and male rape jokes) in part because I didn't know any better and now I just cringe when thinking about it.

I just realized something listening to this.(not this part it’s the setup) the aspects of good and evil are not on a line, it’s a circle. Specifically the the yin-yang circle of light/dark, good/evil. “Good” is primarily characterized by altruism, “evil” by selfishness, self entitlement and even apathy. This is the place for an in-depth discussion of the wheel of morality, but what I’ve realized that in America (not exclusively in America but that’s where I’m looking) there’s a decent amount of personal freedom and thus a significant rise in personal gratification (aka, hedonism) and the teachings of altruism (usually taught by religion) have been mostly cast aside even by the major religions, to embrace a hedonistic lifestyle and philosophy. The outcomes of massive amounts of people embracing such a philosophy results in a next generation of children being even worse than their parents as they are not taught proper altruistic methodologies in dealing with other people. All they know is “give me what I want or I’ll behave badly”, in other words, evil. America is becoming evil and is therefore doomed. So embrace the prepper ideology in order preserve yourself and your family as long as possible to bridge the chaos of a collapse/invasion. I don’t mean saving up a little food and supplies that will take care of your friendly neighborhood ravenous horde for a single day when they break down your door, kill you and take all your stuff, no I mean adopt the mindset that you will survive and learn the strategies and skills of wilderness survival that will help you do so in a complete “grid down” environment. Even if the society doesn’t collapse all the way down to zero, those kind of skills would still be useful even in a partial collapse. Ok, I’ve gone a bit off topic so I’ll stop now, thanks for coming to my TED rant.
