Waiting 7 hours for Tokyo's Fluffiest Pancakes

📍Benitsuru, Asakusa
If you're looking for some fluffy pancakes in a very accessible part of Tokyo, I've got just the place for you (and it's gluten free too!) You will have to wait in line before the shop even opens to get a ticket and reserve a time later in the day that you can come back at. I personally recommend going around 7AM, and even then there will most likely be a line.
I should note that they do take a non-refundable 1000 deposit from each person just to reserve a spot, and require each person to order their own pancake. The pancakes are HUGE so make sure you come hungry. Make sure to get back to the shop 5 minutes before your reservation time to avoid being late and having your reservation automatically canceled!
I got the most savory one, and even that one was sweet so just expect it all to be sweet and you should be good to go! Hope you guys enjoy :)

I think the 7 hours included the wait time to reserve their spot + the time it took until their reservation. I don’t think they spent 7 whole hours waiting in line bc even though the line was long, it wasn’t 7 hours long.

​@@nik4670I went a few months ago and they're not even open at 5. I have pictures with my bf at this place. I'm p sure the commenter here is lying on the internet 😂 We saw lots of people get turned away (including us the first time) whenever we went. If you go by 11 a.m. without a reservation, you won't be able to get seated. You gotta come like 8-10 a.m., before they open, to put your name in and get a reservation cause they don't have a lots of spots and it takes a while to finish the meal. They also don't have many seats, maybe like 10-15. It's a really great place though! They handsqueezed my juice and the hollandaise sauce on the egg and bacon pancakes is great! They've got some other pretty pancakes on their menu though so if you ever go to Tokyo, I'd def recommend it!

That was breakfast our first day in Japan, we got there at 7:45 and there was already a line, at 8:30 they open the door to start taking reservations and you leave a ¥1,000 deposit per person, they give you a sheet of paper with your time on it and then you come back at your allocated time. First time for eating is 10am and our time ended up being 11am even after being there as early as we were

It's really good! That's why they have to turn so many people away jaja. The egg, bacon, and hollandaise sauce one isn't sweet. It's not salty but it's not exactly sweet, just pancakey cause they're so thick.

Sometimes if its during peak hours around the buisness areas, places like these get packed. Other times its becoming more popular to the locals because of advertising or through word-of-mouth. Expanding the business in other prefectures is not really a smart option especially when its a small family business.

When my bf and I went, our meal (drink + pancakes) was about $20-ish each, which I'd say is a very fair price considering how filling and good it is, plus how much work goes into making the pancakes! We also didn't have to wait when we went c: Idk why there's a line in the video .o. but we went twice and there weren't lines, but we went around 10-ish both days and were quickly able to get a reservation c: I went during my spring break but Japanese schools also had vacation at the time so idk why it was so easy for us c:
