KE2 has great training videos and plenty of reasearch on how to install and service there product. It’s up to us (technicians) to saturate ourselves in the technology to properly understand its full potential. I have now installed 20 or more evap efficiency controllers with huge success. The KE2 evap efficiency controller (using demand defrost and a RSV EEV and door switch) is a game changer.

I agree with tight spaces particularly behind the coil and back wall but you also have to have the patience and care with moving product out of the way to access equipment and protecting it from coil cleaner over spray. This is what I’m faced with as I go in on Sundays when the restaurants are closed to do cleanings and repairs. Also, be careful removing fan screen nuts with an impact as they can break easily due to the cold & corrosion leaving the motor mount loose til the mount is replaced (this I learned at the school of hard knocks). As always, another great video, Chris.

@@HVACRVIDEOS I'd recommend not hooking things like this to a Network that has internet access, at least not on a permanent basis. The "Internet of Things" is not proving to be particularly secure, and the last thing you want is to have the customer hook up their Freezer control system to the internet, and have someone manage to hack their network and mess with the controller configuration causing loss of product.

How new was the system? Has it gone through a low ODT period since it's installation previously? Many installing techs forget to add the precharge to the receiver after doing a warm ODT startup. You may want to look up the condenser OEM IOM; Copeland has a charge adjustment procedure that eliminates the charge calculation from about 95% of low and mid temp, TXV and EXV driven refrigeration with condenser hold back head control and receivers which is easy to do and almost always as quick as the emergency charge adjustment uses in the field.

Also to correctly check refrigerant pressures on the walk in boxes with check valve installed, is it you backseat or frountseat just a crack to get readings? Does backseat mean open and turning counter clockwise? And does front seat mean closed turning clockwise right? So it's fully back seated to begin with, so refrigerant can flow thru right?

A lot of the medium and heavy walk/drive in systems we work on have some form of demand defrost these days, due to the energy savings, the reduced number of and length of defrosts and the more complete defrosts of the coils. As the cost of the controls have come down, they have migrated to smaller systems. They require a different understanding, testing procedures and customer education, but generally appear to be stable and reliable, IF THEY ARE INSTALLED AND SET UP CORRECTLY! Heaven forbid anyone should read the directions!😂

I believe that comp is flooding. The frost patern on the comp ? How was the superheat set, controlled?
@HVACRVIDEOS5 жыл бұрын
I did not measure the compressor superheat but they run the coil at 6 degrees superheat so it would be totally acceptable to have frost on the body. The frost is just an indication that the suction line is below dew point and the outdoor air temps were very low
@randyhandle20125 жыл бұрын
Try placing sensor perpendicular to coil with wiring pointed down if relocating still has issues and top tip on copper tubing. Might be terminating early from sensor close to electric heat source. Can run cat 5 cable to customers Lan(chefs computer) and will be able to access on there lan or offsite if they set up smart access. If they do that then can log in from phone, tablet or laptop on or off site.
@Jeepjones855 жыл бұрын
randy handle Tralusen actually recommends to put the sensor in the middle of the top or as close to the top as possible, they want it as far away from the defrost heater as it can get, the sensor if mounted low like how it was in the video at first will come out of defrost faster than if the sensor is higher up the coil
@randyhandle20125 жыл бұрын
@@Jeepjones85 that's why I said perpendicular instead of pushed inside fins. Every application with these are slightly different and more then one way to get the same job accomplished. Ke2 recommends as an alternative method for sensor installation with electric heaters since the heaters are mounted to coil. With a electric heater mounted to the bottom of coil like a traulsen you are referring to then yes you are correct, move up away from heaters. In his application the heater appeared to be mounted on opposite side of coil, therefore if you put sensor inside coil if it's only a few inches thick the sensor would be close to the heat strips. Was just offering suggestion if he wishes to try up to him. Hes a good mech so I'm sure he will figure it out.
If it's based on IP address all you need is a wireless router that can be powered you plug in the ethernet cable to that and hook up to that router with your laptop then punch in the IP address into the web browser and it should pop up. That's wifi, make sure it's got 2.4 gig and 5 g

Could one of the causes of the faulty sensors be because of how high the shelves are and how close they are to said unit? So it started having problems because of how much product was close to the unit, and then when they went in to manually defrost they ended up breaking the sensor?

Not really, this location has been here for 6 years and they have always loaded it the same.

@@HVACRVIDEOS Fair enough, would it be fair to say that the sensor was broken from a manual defrost? or just worn over time...
