This is what you call songwriting!! This is what happens when the talent is the only thing that matters. Now its all about looks 1st & then keeping the sound as close to what is “hot right now” with just slight variations. I just don’t understand it. Watch any new movie & you will see that 98% of the songs that are used in the movies are older songs. This is a very telling sign about where music is today.

Love the Strat and tonal changes you make with pick placement. Now that's musicianship....Cheers from Canada, again. Rob

let me translate... Joe, you are a Master Rearranger of the whole UNIVERSE of a song, its meaning, its story, the most played versions, what make that song musically timeless and great... and your VOCALS add a lot to the whole thing... your musical skills and culture and mastery make one think you have been studying and practicing and performing 70 years... not your real (young!l age... you are inspiring many to go at acoustic in different and special ways! I suffered ages but I finally got the famous intro riff sound decent... but you made EACH PART of this great song FANTASTIC! thanks immensely

Hey Joe you surely rock that Maton but the 30 seconds following the 2:17 mark on the Strat was some of the TASTIEST things I've ever heard. Great balance of complexity and accesibility, fluent and organic and above all, very creative. Love the Knopfler-esque finish with the Sultans reference right after that :D. Watched that part 4 times over; this is hard work and a lot of love paying off!

This isnt one of my top Dire Straits song but I respect that you played it anyway. Your groove on this one is on point and your solo was nicely done Joe. You just keep amaze me with your skills. I've been watching your progress since you were a kid man, and you were even really good back then. Amazing stuff. I wish I could sharpen my skills as I did when I was younger, playing for 8 hours a day but cant anymore. Sadly enough I have some issues with my left hand nowdays and cant play for long hours, which I think is needed to be able to play clean. Repetition is the key for learning the songs fluidly. Cant do that anymore though ((
