I’ve got an f80 M3 which I’ve had for a couple months. Helps putting the gearbox in the 2nd fastest mode when it’s wet. Help put the power down without losing traction. Mines a 15 M3 and I know it’s different but everything you said was spot on!

Hi Ricky, the noise you can hear at low speed (a drone like whine) is normal. The M cars have no rubber cushioning between the chassis and the axel, so its metal bolted to metal to give stiffness at the expense of noise travelling through the car. Another thing you might notice is if you drive in sport or sport plus the gearbox will hold on to the gears and when pulling away at junctions you can end up bunny hopping. Again it’s normal you just need to accelerate harder, that’s what it’s expecting you to do so if you hesitate on the throttle it will bunny hop and make you look like a learner driver lol. I have the M3 f80 and M135i (remapped) and think both cars are fantastic pieces of kit. The M135i has really light steering compared to the M3 which I know you mentioned. I’m a motor dealer so luckily I get to drive nice cars. PS you should get 36 mpg if you drive in efficiency, but who wants too lol All the best to you with your channel for 2019

Excellent observation Ricky. I own current AMG and M4, and the BMW is less of a play toy than the other makes. The M4 is very unforgiving for incompetence and will punish you severely for mistakes; which consequently is the very reason I luv the car--it is a car meant for exceptional drivers. Glad you got one mate! Looks better than my 2016 version.. the variability in grip makes it constantly involving. For the last 2 years everyday when I pull out my drive I put my foot down to see how easily it slides and no 2 days are the same except in summer. Pilot sport 4s will transform the wet weather grip. Yet as you said in the dry it has epic grip.. on a warm trackday there's almost nothing it can't keep up with round corners from caterhams to exiges to 911 turbos. Enjoy the car, you won't get bored!

Good review Ricky. 2 things I'd say with the F80. 1 - getting the pilot sport 4S makes a huge difference, especially in the wet. Doesn't snap lose grip as much. 2 - shifting up with the DCT like you said can upset the balance into 2nd and third, but it's made a lot worse if you short shift in full throttle... if you shift above 3500 rpm it's a lot smoother. And also if you have TC fully on can just kill the power when you shift which is horrible. I never have TC fully on.

First thing I did to improve ride on my f80 comp was replace the mpss with ps4s, that took edge off nvh. To sort the ride, I replaced the suspension with tractive coilovers which integrates with the oe edc. They will give you proper quality dampening and no crash like the oe Sachs shocks

You got a great car mate. I got a worse deal back in 2017, only because I had bad credit (here in the USA). Great sportscar. Enjoy! I recommend you get a set of winter rims (they are slightly heavier keeps car more planted to the ground and multi season or tires that perform good in the rain.)
