You know, Shane doesn't have to do this, but he does and for that I am ever so grateful. I just love the passion he brings to these videos, and it is really appreciated. Thank you Shane!

I guess it really depends on the production you are working on. I was in the union in Canada, and sometimes my electric department was 7, sometimes 6, sometimes 13, or whatever. It can very a lot. There is a more 'standard' but it changes. Especially if you are in a studio with other productions next door, then it can be chaotic.

What do you mean by "in New York and New Jersey"? If I'm funding the movie and in charged of the set, I can make any channel to be anything I want right?
@michaelfrymusАй бұрын
Yeah, but hes talking of union stuff

Sure but hopefully you're working with experienced crew who do their jobs so well partly because some components of it are basically muscle memory. Why would you change standardized operations that experienced crew have been trained on for decades? It would only slow them down. Crew members might see it as a sign of inexperienced production, which it likely would be. That said, yeah if you're making a movie with your friends obviously you can use whatever channels you want. You can do it with other crew but don't be surprised if they think it's weird or it slows them down or they take time to break their trained habits.

It’s west coast IA local union numbers, or based off it anyway. 3 for 399, 4 for 44, 6 for 600, 7 for 728, 8 for 80.

One would say it's better to focus on everything on set instead of the infinite Abyss that is one cell phone
@DanettoАй бұрын
@VariationMachine yes give set phones.. as if a 200 million dollar movie cant afford a handful of phones lmao

How would you use WhatsApp like walkies? How would you broadcast to everyone with a push-to-talk button without taking your eyes off your job? How would you change channels to talk to another department quickly with one hand with one small knob twist? I do always get annoyed with walkies nowadays since we often want hands free full duplex comms in camera department as well which makes the crappy sound quality and clunkiness of walkies on top of that feel outdated but it definitely serves its purpose well most of the time.

@@Danetto sorry I didn't mean to offend you, I thought you might actually have an idea that would work so I was just asking. Guess we'll just have to stick to the way that works
