Hi Rebecca, so pleased I came across your videos. I suffered a TPF Grade 2 with bone graft, on March 1st as a result of a skiing accident as well, and my progress looks to be on par with yours - so it's reassuring to see your progress. I am currently at 8 weeks and walking without aids but with a slight limp. Looking forward to learning more from you and being inspired! Hilary

I am 8 weeks out after 3 months non-weight bearing and trying to walk with a walker, but fell at an elevator and sprained my wrist. So then it didn't allow me to use the walker for at least 2 weeks...trying slowly again with a splint on my wrist. I will have to check out your prior videos on how you are here at 8 weeks, which is terrific!

Very impressive on your recovery. A year ago I broke my foot and it took me 10 weeks to recover and I didn't have to go through the surgery. You keep up with your physio you keep determined you keep working hard and that muscle will return in no time. My advice be patient with yourself but push yourself at the same time. Your body will tell you when it's too much so pay attention and you'll rock it! 👍💪

Amazing! I fractured my left medial tibial plateau a little over 6 weeks ago, non-displaced so no surgery. I’ve been non weight bearing since. I’ve been allowed to bend my knee while wearing my brace but when I got to 70 degrees, felt this weird ridge inside my knee (I assume it’s where the fracture is) and afterwards my knee got really painful and swollen again for several days. Haven’t dared to bend it that far since then… Hoping everything is okay and that I’ll be allowed to start weight bearing and start physio when I see my orthopaedic specialist on the 7th of May. Can’t wait to finally see some progress in my recovery and become a bit more mobile again!

I love hearing your story and congratulations on your progress. I am 68 and shattered my patella in 5 pieces and had surgery with a plate and 9 screws. I can walk now after 5 weeks but I have one major problem. If I sit on the floor I can’t get up. I need to fix this as I have had several episodes where I was stuck on the floor for several hours. I am taking Gabapentin for nerve pain which is amazing. I never took opiates. I’m in Delaware and was out planting tomatoes and fell and couldn’t get up. Half of my knee is still numb and the other half hurts terribly especially at night. I’m working on arm strength and leg strength with a vibration plate which feels amazing. I will follow your progress.

I broke my leg in two places skating last December. I had to have a rod put in that goes from just below the knee to above the ankle. The recovery is still ongoing. I decided any trips I would take this year would be local, as I didn't want to deal with mobility issues abroad. I'm in PEC next week and watched your wine tour vid. Came for the PEC, stayed for the knee injury journey! LOL. I hope you recovered well.

I know it's not up yet but my eyes were caught off guard by seeing my leg, yours but mines very similar! Wish I could post a pick, had 'hardware' sticking out (metal bars drilled into bone) 2weeks and now a few scars, bad ones but one is identical to your pic! Never thought I'd see it anywhere but on me! Lol hope all is well!
@RebeccaFelgateOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow you must have had a nasty fall too! I hope you’re okay? How are you doing these days with it all? Does the hardware give you much bother?
@barbcobbett72062 жыл бұрын
@@RebeccaFelgateOfficial yep I did fall, I was locking a gate and my little dog decided she was ready n didn't want to wait and she pulled and my body turned but my right foot and leg didn't so I ended up with the knee and calf just being a complete shattered mess! They couldn't operate do to too much swelling so they put the 'hardware" on/in to immobilize it and keep it from starting to heal badly after 2 weeks I think then surgery and 3months in a wheelchair! Side note nobody on the planet could ever damage me as much as I can and do! Lol! But all healed now and other then the scars that make other ppl cringe and oddly reminds me of a weird map I'm back on 2 legs, and my x-rays look like someone scribbled all over it with a glow in the dark sharpie I'm OK oh and just a smidge shorter on that leg but very happy to walk relatively normal! Lol! I'm guessing yours was a fall too? Are you still using a cane or walker at this point, at 7 weeks I was still in the chair myself? I hope the pain is getting better for you, cause that hurts big time! I don't want to be too nosey or personal and if you don't want to answer I completely understand but are you in th UK or still around here in Toronto ? I ask wondering if there's much difference in the surgery between them, prob not but.... so sorry for writing a book here lol but I don't know anyone that's had anything similar to what I've or we've had done! Oh mine was about 5yrs ago now and other then finding out now I have arthritis mixed in with all the metal in there now! I hope you don't get the added bonus like me! Lol! Thanks BTW for answering me, I really wasn't expecting to get to chat a bit with you, very cool thank you! If possible in some way let me know how you're making out, maybe on the end of a future vid or something if you can! Again thanks so much! Hugs from slightly east of Toronto

Hey Barb! Oh my the dog and the gate incident sounds horrible! Poor you! And a wheelchair for three months! I am using a cane outdoors but inside I am trying without it. I fell down skiing about eight weeks ago and seven weeks ago I had surgery. I appear to have healed miraculously quickly so that’s very good! I am doing Physio now and limping a bit, but I hope to heal up more soon! I am in Toronto! I have lived here for six and a half years! I was at Mount Sinai, which was good but I was on surgery standby for 4 days then spent two nights in after surgery as I was in a lot of pain! I am not sure about the differences between hospital care as I haven’t been in a UK hospital since the 90s, but we don’t have to pay for walkers or ambulances etc there. I think the care here in Ontario is pretty good! Glad to hear you’re walking around and still living your life !

@@RebeccaFelgateOfficial oh wow, I've never tried skiing myself but I can feel your pain! Ya being stuck in a wheelchair for 3mths was hard but once I was allowed out of it I used a walker for a couple weeks then a cane fir a week or two but it was not really easy because I had stayed at a family members in the wheelchair but went back to where I was living and my little dog was there, she was fine but my friend had 4 pittbulls so getting around them without them taking me out was hard so I had to get better asap! I kind of knew you were in Toronto from when you were on the other KZbin channel but wasn't sure once you left if you stayed here or went back but glad to hear you like it here! I'm about 20 minutes to 30mins east of Toronto, oshawa. Was born here and haven't traveled very far but one day would love to visit the UK, one day maybe! Well I hope you're back to %100 very soon! Hopefully you won't get the slight limp, the way mine broke I think is why I do, putting puzzle pieces back together sort of thing! Lol! It's really nice of you to answer thank you! Take care of you and I hope you heal quickly!

Hi Rebecca, i just came across your channel and noted this post was from a year ago. I wanted to let you know i feel your pain as i am currently 5 weeks post op for a TPF and have a similar plate and scar as you and another one to the inside of the knee with another lovely long scar 😊 i don't think i'll be walking at 7 weeks as also sustained substantial nerve damage so my foot and shin up to my knee is numb and i have drop foot too, but i am getting there but have been told it'll be a long road. It is so frustrating isn't it when you can't get around or live your life but your journey and videos have inspired me to keep at it and getting mobile again as i am determined too. Well done for sharing your experiences and recovery which reflected with mine and i was so pleased to see you pretty mobile at 7 weeks post op. I am in the UK and spent 13 days in an NHS hospital, and didn't get my surgery till day 8 as kept getting cancelled 😔 i was so pleased to get home to my little dog oh and I love your kitty by the way 🥰 i hope you are remaining well 😘

Hi Mandylou - I’m in Australia and 7 weeks post op from a depressed tibial plateau fracture Mine was caused by a big Malemute dog crashing into my right leg as I was on my morning beach walk in Bali - didn’t even hurt, until I tried to stand on it 😆 Anyway, I was flown home and had my surgery in Melbourne - a plate & 6 screws - I saw my surgeon 5 days ago and he said I can start slowly putting weight on my leg in 3 days time, so 7 weeks post op I also have a problem with my foot and numbness down through my shin Rebecca was amazing to be walking this well at 7 1/2. Weeks, she truly is inspirational! I just turned 69 2 weeks before my accident so no doubt it will take me longer to get to this stage I hope your recovery is going well and that you’re ready to ‘run a marathon’ by now!

I know all too well of that injury. I have the exact same injury, metal plate and scar on the same leg. Glad to hear you're walking around. Kinda makes one person think about how much of a miracle the world has by walking. Took it for granted, until I broke my tibial plateau and couldn't walk properly for months. Luckily you dodged a bullet with the cold because I don't like to be the bearer of bad news, but the cold of the next few winters (depending where you are), the hardware in your leg will get cold fast. Especially here in Toronto as we know all too well how cold winters gets around here. I'm trying to convince the doctors to take out my hardware for that very reason. After a few years of winters here in Toronto the hardware in my leg is no longer necessary since the injury has fully recovered. Perhaps when I get my hardware removed, I'm going to ask to keep it. LoL

Mine wasn't done until after and they can't see much with the hardware in the way. I have a partially torn pcl. I have not been told I will ever get back to normal which seems very pessimistic.
