this was the 100th episode so there were a lot of parallels to the first episode (Carl walking in the beginning with the gas can similar to the beginning of episode 1, the slow top shot of the walkers circling Gabriel and Negan in the RV similar to Rick stuck in the tank, etc.)

This episode is the 100th of the series. There are a lot of similarities to the first episode (when Carl starts looking for gas among the derelict cars - like Rick does in episode 1 ... The walker girl that Rick sees after Carl leaves is the same actress who played the little girl walker in Days Gone Bye) The "old man" Rick scenes symbolize Carl's vision of the future ... how it "Could have been" ...

Geroge romero is the god father of zombies he started it all with his 1968 film called night of the living dead a masterpiece in my opinion and the part where carl is trying to find gas is a reference to rick trying to find gas back in season 1 and the part where Gabriel and negan are stuck in the trailer is a reference to when rick was in the tank it shows the same camera angle and everything

This is episode 100 of The Walking Dead To celebrate 100 episodes they had a callback to the opening scene and the ending scene Carl walking through the gas station just like Rick in the first episode And the walker in the background was actually the same actress that played the zombie girl in the first episode all grown up and Gabriel being trapped with Negan in the trailer surrounded by walkers just like Rick being trapped in the tank surrounded by Walkers.

Remember back in Season 6 when Rick told Jessie about the window theory (Keep the windows in tact keep society intact) This was a callback to that meaning that Rick’s plan was to break the will of Negan’s army by ruining their sense of safety Subtle but I thought it was pretty brilliant.

I remember having a weird feeling watching this episode! So excited to go to war and finally fight back, but when I saw Negan injured I realised I wasn’t ready for him to die! He’s just so entertaining! Don’t get me wrong I want our group to win but I enjoy the saviour era, they are great villains! 🤷🏽‍♀️

John Bernecker was a Stunt man who tragically died during shooting this Season falling from that platform Negan and his lieutenants are standing on He missed the cushion because he hesitated for an unknown reason His family sued AMC and the case was tried It just ended 4 years ago AMC was found not at fault.

I really like the reference when Carl was driving that van to the gas station just like in Season 1 Episode 1 when Rick drove his police cruiser to that gas station and also another reference was at the end of the episode when Gabriel is trapped with Negan in that trailer and it’s surrounded by Walkers just like when Rick was stuck in that tank in Atlanta and it’s surrounded by Walkers.

What I liked about this episode: Finally after putting up with being under the thumb of Negan for so long the communities go on the offensive There are similarities to D Day June 6 1944 when the allied forces finally invade Europe after years of getting hammered I was so ready And like D Day things went wrong But remember what Maggie said about keeping the faith with each other I also loved the character development of Carl here You see him becoming more compassionate toward strangers He’s still a bit odds with Rick but the roles have reversed Remember when Rick brought home survivors from Woodbury and younger Carl was angry with him for doing so I loved the music score Notice the piece played when Carl was setting out the I’m sorry food drop for the stranger It was the perfect I’m Sorry tune just Awesome.

I won't get mad that you don't know who George A. Romero is, but just know that without him, the entire zombie subgenre as we know it wouldn't exist. You should check out his movie 'Night of the Living Dead' from 1968 for one of your movie reactions, as that movie started it ALL. Best part is that it's in the public domain, so you could put the entire movie up and not have to edit a damn thing.
