Nuit Blanche, which means “white night”, began in 2002 in Paris, France as an overnight art festival to showcase contemporary art in public spaces. Since then, this free event has been embraced in multiple cities all around the world, including Toronto. Great to see @actionkid capture this moment! Cheers! 🥂

It took a long time for this area to develop into what you see today, but it's a much better looking place than when the CN Tower was first open in 1976 and surrounded by acres of parking lots as far as the eye could see. Welcome to Toronto AK, hope you'll come back for another visit again soon. If you're in the Don Mills area the Aga Khan Museum is worth a visit. Sure traffic is crazy but thanks for showcasing our City!

It is spread out all over the city but If you go after 2 a.m. you will beat the crowds and the subway runs all night. Also some exhibits will last until October 10th. You missed "the Daughters of the Diaspora " at 88 Queen's Quay but you saw a lot of good ones. Glad to see that you got out. Enjoy your time in Toronto.

Hey ActionKid welcome to my town. Best city in North America! A couple useless things to help you out: 1) It's pronounced "Eee - toe - bee - co". The borough is one of six. Hence, why people call Toronto "the six". Toronto is also known as "Hogtown" and "The Big Smoke" but those last two references are mostly known older residents. The "t-dot" is also what younger people call the city. 2) You nail the "Nuit" part but the "che" in "Blanche" is the same pronunciation as when you say the word "cheese". Not "blanc" but "blanche". There are always free festivals in Toronto all year, which is one of the reasons why Nuit Blanche is only one night. 3) Roncesvalles is pronounced "Ron - sez - vale". Johnny Strides pronounces the "s" at the end, but that's not correct either. It's a very common mistake that people make. 4) Toronto is the 4th largest city in North America and one of (if not) the most multicultural cities in the world. Even more multicultural than New York in my opinion. 5) Diversity is huge strength here. We don't like the term "melting pot" because it suggests you need to conform to the local society. Here, we have more of a "tossed salad" mentality. As in, everyone is different but we're all better together. 6) The CN Tower is the tallest structure in North America. Used to be the world until the Burj Khalifa was completed in the UAE. 7) You can't do it all in a week or two. And that's okay. Just enjoy yourself. The people are phenomenal. The city is clean. The city is ridiculously safe based on how large it is. The food is pound for pound the best in North America. At least in all the major cities I've travelled to. Just so many different cuisines of all stripes. From local dives to upscale restaurants and everything in between, there is just such an incentive scene representing an authenticity on a scale that you don't see in most other North American cities. Don't get me wrong, not every place is a gem of course. But mercy if there aren't some amazing places all over. Keep up the fun Toronto videos pal. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts!
@iN31L2 жыл бұрын
Nobody pronounces it "Eee - toe - bee - co". It's pronounced "ih-toe-bih-co". The first sound could also be "eh" but it is pronounced so quickly that you certainly dont have time to say "eee". Ive never ever heard a single person from the city or from Etobicoke that pronounces it like "eee" and "bee"
@MichaelStrathmore2 жыл бұрын
@@iN31L Agreed. I think if you had heard AK's initial attempts you'd be a little more forgiving in what I was trying to accomplish here. But yes, my phonetics are a smidgen off from a local's perspective. But yes, people I grew up with would often say "Eee" but not "bee" that's true.
@iN31L2 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelStrathmore True, I just wanted to clarify. Also I would make one more correction: the 'che' in 'Blanche' is the same sound as 'sh', not like the harder sound in 'cheese'. It's like 'Blawnsh'. Cheers!
@MichaelStrathmore2 жыл бұрын
@@iN31L Nah, you're splitting hairs there. It's "che" like cheddar cheese. No one, and I mean no one, in my circle or artists ever said "shh".
