Thank you Bernina Jeff. This is sooooooo needed. I couldn't figure out how to oil my walking foot and it is squeaking really badly.

Oh just the information I need, about a month ago my walking foot started squeaking and I couldn’t find out how to oil it, I didn’t know that it could be opened, so I tried to oil it while closed, but it didn’t help. This is such useful information, as the squeaking is so very annoying, and not goof for the walking foot I imagine 😱 you really do keep us happy, and sewing. Thank you Jeff ☺️ 🧵👌

Thanks so much!! This video was super helpful! We got a used walking foot on EBay and it didn’t work when it came. Something was seized up and it wouldn’t walk right. We were able to take it apart with the help of this video and oil it up and now it works like a charm! Thanks again for sharing your expertise!

Thank you this is great advice. I have a Janome machine and walking foot. A few months ago the walking foot fell apart. The screw had loosened as I probably run, not walk. I put it back together and works fine but I should have followed your oiling tips as well.

Oh my! Dear Joe, You are truly amazing! I just started making bras and found that my walking foot was the hot set up for construction. My walking foot is only about a year old and this is the first time that I've used it. I was sewing along and all of a sudden the lever seized up. I thought I would need a new one. I know this video is about lubricating the foot but I took mine apart. By merely putting some "yellow capped oil" on the pin, I was able to begin to move it and soon it was moving freely. I was even able to put the foot back together and it actually works! Thank you so much for the knowledge as well as the time and money I saved!

I did not know that a walking foot needed oiling until I saw this video a month or two ago. This week my walking foot started squeaking while quilting a quilt. When I finished sewing it, I started this video to follow the steps. I had some difficulty loosening the screws on my 10 year old walking foot so my husband had to assist me several times. I am not very mechanically adept, but I was able to complete the servicing by rewatching segments as I needed more information. Thanks for providing a valuable service. I sew on a Bernina 530 but I also own a 930 purchased in 1985 as well as a 230 QE to take to classes.

Thank you! I've been using my walking foot for EVERYTHING for the past year. Last week the entire foot started lifting between stitches and I heard metal rubbing against metal. Knew it was the walking foot because my zipper foot was working just fine. A little oil here and there and it's working great!

Thank you! I watched your video and was able to open my walking foot to diagnose my wobbly fork. My 2 month old Bernina walking foot broke, the fork snapped right at the insert pin😳! I didn’t even own it long enough to need to oil it! I will take it in to the dealer and hopefully they can repair it. Unfortunately, there is no warranty on Bernina presser feet.

Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!. I was quilting and half way through, stitches started getting small as if lowered to embroidery setting. I rethreaded the machine , even the bobbin and played with tension on it. Then I changed to regular foot and it sewed correctly. So I took apart walking foot and oiled it put it back together and it works PERFECTLY. Thank you so much for the advice. My walking foot is old and showed no sign of lubrication inside. I'm happy I can continue my project. Thank you.

I love the stitch in the ditch sole on the Bernina foot. Thanks for the maintenance demonstration. I self serviced my foot prior to seeing this video..but I simply dropped some oil in the hatch. It worked; but I can see the value of a more thorough cleaning/maintenance if needed. Regarding patent for magnetic trough...old trick that would not pass patent muster! I do all of my repairing over a lidded tray lined with a dish towel and a small container for screws. It keeps things from going awry.

Hi Jeff, your videos are most helpful, but I do have a question. I am not able to remove the fork from the walking foot. Two years ago, with the help of your videos I cleaned and oiled the walking foot. The oil I used was the bernina oil used for oiling the machine. This oil was probably too lite and didn’t last as long. Unfortunately now the fork is stuck and I can’t seem to get it off. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

Hi, I am just seeing your KZbin video and I found it when I started wondering if I could oil my Bernina walking foot. Got tired of hearing the squeaking. And...Walla!, exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for this very informative video. I only have one question. Is the yellow cap oil a special one that is especially for Bernina machines or can I just purchase it anywhere. The only oil I have is one that is specifically for oiling my Bernina sewing machine that was purchased from a dealer. Should I go there to purchase the "yellow" cap one?

Hello. I'm enjoying your videos very much. Can you please tell me which 3 sole walking foot is the newest? Does it have the silver, slightly formed fork, or the black fork? Thank you.

What exactly is the “red cap” oil versus the “yellow cap”? I have Tri-Flow oil, as well as the Lily White machine oil, are either of those OK? Great tutorial, BTW, I’m servicing my walking foot today, cause it squeaks!
@berninajeff Жыл бұрын
Red cap is ONLY for the bobbin area of black bobbin machines yellow oil is for every other part, model, brand. You oils are fine but in a dry climate they dissipate quickly.

Hi, Thank you for the video ... all was so clearly explained. I used the oil that came with my Bernina ... I don't know anout yellow cap or red cap oils... can you explain further.
@berninajeff3 жыл бұрын
Red cap oil is for the hook on the black bobbin machines and the yellow cap is for all other moving parts on all machines and walking feet, the red cap will work but it is lighter and will need to be repeated more often

I probably did not ask the right question ... I guess I need to know how to ask at the hardware store for yellowcap and redcap oil. Is there a brand name or do all machine oils come with the coloured caps regardless of the brand. Can I just use sewing machine oil? I used the oil that came with my machine and it works fine ... although if it is the "red cap" type oil it might not last as long. I am going to watch your other videos in order to keep my machine in top shape ... you make it seem so easy. .

My plastic outer piece has a major crack in it. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I was having some trouble with some thick fabric. It seems like this is totally inconsequential to the function of the foot. Do you know if it's possible to purchase and extra plastic outer piece?
