Walking in Amsterdam 🇳🇱

I walked the city with Rick Steves' Audio Europe app, taking the City Walk, Red Light District Walk, and Jordaan Walk. I ended the day with a visit to the Anne Frank Haus. It's counterintuitive, but perhaps a day in which you are moved to tears is still a good day.

Rick doesn't go there, and almost nobody from the "I went to Amsterdam" faction on YT. The area around Lastageweg, so East of Nieuwmarkt, is a gorgeous area of canals around the old city fortification of which the Montelbaanstoren is a part. Everyone always goes to the RLD west of Nieuwmarkt, and if you look above ground level, you'll see that it has exactly the same build as the Eastern part of the Nieuwmarkt area. Also, Nieuwmarkt used to be the pre-war Jewish neighbourhood, and if you look at the right things, that's still obvious (I used to guide walks for the JHM)
