I've seen most of the country, but when I got here I fell in love with this place. Been here 30yrs. and would never live any where else.

Never go through Port Angeles without going into "Swain's General Store." You basically missed one of the main attractions!

I appreciate your videos. Port Angeles is now on my list of places to visit in July. We are going back to Washington State in July to get an idea of cities we are interested in semi-retiring closer to the ocean (live in Denver).

It's a great idea to visit the Olympic peninsula in summer time, Be sure to visit Hurricane ridge :) the Sequim lavender festival is in july as well, hope you have a great trip!

Hurcane ridge is closed till further notice since the lodge burnt to the ground a few weeks ago.

Hurricane Ridge, the lodge burnt down three or four months ago you can now go up to the top, but only so many visitors per day better check with the Ranger before you try going up there@@backpackaroundtheworld

@@juddphillips I am a volunteer at the Olympic national park. I was able to go up to the ridge but I had to go up with an escort I will call ahead of time. There’s rumors that they might open it up but not for the lodge they have a snow season coming, and they have a ski resort up there all volunteers that take donations.

Missed a few of the best stores! You missed the fudge store, Anime Kat (for the geeks), the stained glass store, AND Odyssey Book Store! They’re absolute musts! Thanks for showing off Sister’s And Co. a little though! Run by my sisters! (An actual Port Angeles resident)

And yes, if you're in the right spot, and you don't have to go very far, you can pretty much see the mountains and the water at the same time!

You're right. I live in Games Addition looking out my back door are the mountains, and my front door the Strait of Juan de Fuca ❤

Great place to live. A lousy place to be homeless unless ya love sleeping in drizzling rain and cold.
@backpackaroundtheworldАй бұрын
Port Angeles does seem like a wonderful place to live with its natural beauty, but you bring up an important point. The challenges of being homeless in such weather conditions are truly harsh. It’s a reminder of how important it is to support initiatives that help those in need.

trust me for all the shit that PA gets it is not the worst place to live in the U.S. here in PA because we are a small town the traffic is usually not bad and the air is pretty fresh because of the fact that we live in the middle of a temperate rain forest

I see where you’re coming from-Port Angeles definitely has a mix of areas, and not everyone’s experience is the same. The waterfront area can be beautiful, but I understand that other parts may not appeal to everyone. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@blakedawson2129 Жыл бұрын
it's a pretty setting. It's a beautiful area. but the city is just another low budget mill town. It suffers from brain drain. higher education is ridiculed. a cultural wasteland. if a lifted diesel pickup and a double wide is "living the dream", this is your kinda place.
@backpackaroundtheworldАй бұрын
I appreciate you sharing your perspective. Every place has its strengths and challenges, and it sounds like Port Angeles might not be a perfect fit for everyone. It’s true that some areas may feel a bit more traditional, but they also have their own charm for those who appreciate the slower pace and natural beauty. Thanks for your honest feedback!
