Beautiful area. Interesting there are feral cows in the area. Was there a dairy farm in the area at one time? While not feral, there is a dairy farm near my home. One time while driving home, I was on an exit ramp from a nearby highway. As I was about to leave the ramp, I saw 3 cows running down the road I was about to enter. They were, for lack of a better description, galloping at a frantic pace. I let them proceed but followed them. The faeme must have realized they were missing and sounded the call for dinner. They dashed off the road, across a field of corn and headed to the barn. Not feral but very well trained!

The animals on Dartmoor - ponies, sheep and cattle - are all left to roam on Dartmoor. They are not domesticated, and try to make a fuss of a pony and you risk a kick or bite. My friend was unlucky with the cow that attacked her, but she was clearly feeling very threatened for herself or her calf, and that's why she went for her. Attacks aren't that common on the high moor, but she was down in a valley on a narrow footpath. Bad luck, I'm afraid. But you should avoid all the animals on the moors.

If you are visiting Dartmoor kindly remember you are a guest in the animals home. If the cattle, ponies or sheep inconvenience your Summer evening drive by soaking up the heat from the road. TOUGH. Wait it’s all part of the Dartmoor experience.

Heat from the road? Not this year! Apparently it's been the coldest summer in fifteen years. But you are, of course, right. Respect the animals while you're here.

Good to see you and the dogs out on adventures. We need to explore Dartmoor. Keeping Ollie away from those bullocks though.

Yes, bullocks and sheep are best avoided - and ponies! Some of them can be vicious little ...

@@writerlywitterings I’ve walked through plenty of farms & livestock fields, but I need to remember they’re more wild in places like Dartmoor.

I was driving through your neck of the woods a few weeks ago, en route to a week away in St Austell. As a massive Puttock and Furnshill fan it bought a smile to my face seeing the signs for Crediton, Belstone etc as we drove through...and it got me thinking how good it would be if you had the time to get some recording done whilst you're out and about in these beautiful places... And then this gem arrives in my feed. Really good little video Michael, thank you. As much as I always look forward your latest stationary reviews from your cosy study, it was a nice change to have some new scenery and some different content. I know you must put a lot of time and effort into your videos, but know they are hugely appreciated and enjoyed. Best Wishes, Russ.

Thanks so much, Russ. It makes a big difference to hear from people who enjoy the videos! I will hope to get out a bit more, and now I have these nifty little microphones, it should make recording that bit easier - was the sound quality alright for you?

@writerlywitterings no complaints regarding sound quality from me, clear as a bell.
