Walked past this hotel today and peered in the window. The doorman immediately invited me in to allow me to simply look around. Inside another staff member offered me help. Of course they were probably also security, but in no way made me feel I shouldn’t be there, nor did they usher me out. It was magical inside, glittering with Christmas decor. Actually felt quite emotional to have a glimpse into this opulent, but very homely special world. Beautiful without being flash and wonderful ambience. One day I will stay there ❤️ Thank you for the fab review. Lovely family

My dad worked as the foreman engineer at the Dorchester for about 20 years.. My brother and I when we were young used to go there as they had the staffs children's Christmas party held in the ballroom every year. I'm 56 years old now and have wonderful memories of that beautiful place. My dad passed away in 2016 but he always spoke very fondly of the "D" as he called it.

This really is my favorite hotel in the world. The service is just out of this world. One event illustrates this. It was just before Christmas, 25 years ago. My wife, one-year-old son, and a friend were having afternoon tea at the Dorchester (I was not a guest staying). Walking towards the Dorchester, we were caught in a torrential rain storm. When we got to the lobby we all felt and looked horribly wet. The concierge ushered us to 2 rooms on the main floor (ladies and gents) where we got dressing gowns, they took our clothes, dried and pressed them, and got them back within 15 minutes. We were given toiletries and anything we might need to get presentable again. The experience was not only special but I have never, ever encountered this kind of service in a hotel again. Since then I have stayed many, many times at the Dorchester. The level of service, the quality of the food, and the incredible friendliness are not found elsewhere. If you want a REAL luxury hotel experience in London, there is only one place to go and that's the Dorchester (you will go out of your mind if you like British Art Deco!!!). By the way: what a top-notch vlog!!!!!

It was therefore great, and appreciative, to be able to see much more with you. Expensive? Yes, but taking everything into account you certainly get what you pay for. Apparently it was also Elizabeth Taylor's favourite hotel - I've seen another 'insight' in to the massive wing, which is still dedicated to her. This is a very well-trained staff that were taught to be proud of their professionalism. They were taught that how well they do their job, reflects not only on them, but also reflects on the patrons & the whole reputation of the hotel itself. Earlier in the tour when you were going to your room, I saw and heard several housekeepers vacuuming. This shows that nothing there goes "uncleaned." The Dorchester has excellent management and staff who obviously care as much about the hotel's reputation as they do their own. *It's fabulous to see this kind of care at any hotel these days because it is truly rare.* Tim, it's not that the server felt bad for you, per se, it's a matter of class and respect that you do not allow your patrons to be left waiting, no matter where you are at in the hotel (reception, pool, bar, room, restaurant, etc.). This is *real* class. Outstanding! I love seeing this level of service! I also loved the fact that he laughed with you when you were joking during the tasting. The Dorchester truly shows that the patrons come first! Awesome and refreshing to see these days! *"I'm not sure why I started eating it with a fork!"* That was so funny Tim!

This was great to watch thanks. Nice to see that the room has a Bang and Olufsen TV. Only the best with no expense spared. That particular TV is approximately 10K. My house is full of Bang and Olufsen gear.
