I feel like flat character arcs don't get the recognition they deserve. It's like people assume that every main character needs to change or something and be diffierent. That doesn't always work, especially if the main character is already very well-rounded. WALL-E is definitely a good example of that, as like you said, it is through his actions that influence so many other characters, humans and robots alike around him.

You should prob look up WALL•E ending sad version and it’s just a more realistic ending without what is basically the cop out we got instead. And if anyone complains about the kiss returning his memory not making sense have them watch that and ask if that’s really what they want and if it’s a satisfying ending

Wall-E was one of my favourite movies as a kid when it came out. I had a bootleg copy of the movie on dvd from someone. And I watched it countless times on a dayly basis for a time. I was 8 at the time. And when I was told by my parents that robot’s are not actual living beings with emotions and thoughts in real life I. Was genuinely shocked. Because of this movie and other cartoons showing robots with personality. I genuinely believed as a kid that robots were another species of living people like humans and animals. It never even occured to me that they are artificially created. But man, now thanks to your video I got to rewatch this movie!
@marcosvannucchi86723 ай бұрын
I remember that I met Wall-e in the most unusual way possible: I saw a toy of the character appearing on a table in a photo of my mother's magazine about how to decorate kids rooms and that's how I found out that this movie existed, then I saw the end of the movie on TV on vacation and I was finally able to see it in its entirety thanks to my father buying it on DVD. I remember that I really liked it but I didn't have any toys, so first I tried to make Eve with some fake Legos (I only had blue ones) and then my mom made me a cardboard Wall-E toy that was of very good quality. (that woman was a craftsman).

Its depressing that the "most simple aspect of storytelling: show don't tell" is almost entirely absent from the majority of hollywood movies these days. Its sad that its basically the first rule of storytelling, and yet most of the people making movies can't even grasp the concept.

Originally Wall-E was ment to rescue EVE, but it got changed last minute. This is why in the video games have Wall-E saved EVE and not the other way around. Well, 1 of the video games did have it so neither robot is in need of saving.

@@thegoldman25 1 was made by Heavy Iron (I don't know if that studio is still in business) and the other was made by Asobo (they later made A Plague Tale Innocence and it's sequel A Plague Tale Requim). 1 of them made them for strong consoles at the time like Xbox360 and the other made them for weaker consoles like the WII. I recommend you play the Heavy Iron version, because the death cutscenes that play when you get a game over in Asobo are very scary. Heavy Iron and Asobo also made Ratatouille games and the death cutscenes in the Asobo versionare even more scarring than in Wall-E.
@PaperMarioParty083 ай бұрын
@@spouwnerringAsobo did not make the Wii version. The Heavy Iron game was released on PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii. The Wii version is a very downgraded port. Levels had to be split into several chunks and some chunks were cut out entirely. The Asobo game was released on PC, PS2, and PSP. And the death animations in the game aren't even scary. At least the Ratatouille animations creeped me out at first but the Wall-E animations never scared me at all. I've played the PS2 version a lot and I like it. It's admittedly not that great. The pacing is over the place. It's a really good speed game though, so I've done speedruns of it. But it's a nice game. I played the Wii version once and found it super tedious to get through at times. I think I'll have to replay the game on PS3, but at the moment I don't like this game.

@@spouwnerring Well, Heavy Iron made both the Xbox 360 and Wii versions, so you were still technically wrong. I don't really understand why they ported the Heavy Iron game to Wii instead of the Asobo game. The Asobo game was made for weaker hardware and the Wii is weaker than the PS3 and Xbox 360. Yet they decided to make a downgraded version of the Heavy Iron game.

Watching this as an adult, it strikes me how mature Pixar was being with this movie. On the surface it can be seen as just a robot love story, You go deeper it's a very upfront commentary on pollution and humanity's arrogance and endless consumption of commercial products.

I think what really sold me on this film is that so many of the emotional moments of the film were literally just the visuals speaking for themselves. Yeah, dialogue is important and can be effective. But just the way characters carry themselves, the framing, or the way you can tell what charactes are thinking with just looks can do so much more to engage an audience members. Even as a kid it reaonated with me so much more than other movies. Looking at the Axiom, there's so much storytelling done with the visual design of the ship and humans, despite introducing more dialogue. That said, the dialogue isn't overtly expository when it very easily could've been. There's just so much I could gush about, and Wall-E is still to this day ond of my favorite films, and definitely my favorite Pixar film, with The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Toy Story 2 being very, VERY, close seconds.

Wall-E is one of the best movies ever made, not just animated, might be Pixar's best film, it's one of my favourites, it was also my introduction to sci-fi, this movie has a lot of details sci-fi fans love, the influence of 2001: A Space Oddysey, the voice of Wall-E was made by Ben Burtt, who designed the Star Wars sound effects, even the female voice of the Axiom was Sigourney Weaver's (Andrew Stanton joked with her saying "now you're Mother", Alien fans will understand).

I grew up on this movie, it's the first movie I remember seeing, I went with my dad to the market and saw a dvd of wall-e. I enjoyed this movie as a kid because it was cute, but today as a 22 year old adult I understand its meaning, it's not a movie, it's a potential mirror for our future as humans. It's scary, we have to leave the screens and start running, swimming, meeting people and making connections with other people. There is beauty in this world, and it is to deviate from the path set for us, to go and be different people with our own personalities. This movie is everything I believe in story telling and cinema, thank you for talking about this work of art❤️

The robots basically did everything themselves based on their directives, and the people wanted for nothing so they weren't technically consumers. I really appreciate this video because Wall-E has always been my favorite Pixar movie, and I'd definitely say one of my absolute favorite movies! The animation is wonderful, the story is ultimately hopeful, the characters, with so little dialogue, convey so much... I can't believe you hadn't really watched the credits before - honestly that's another favorite part of the movie for me, it's SO good!

Hello. It's been a while. Hope all is well with you. I still remember when I saw this movie for the first time becuase i watched with my mother. While i was watching the film I was completly engrossed with the notion of forgetting the fact that WALL-E is a robot and his sidekick in the film is also a robot. I still find it fscinating that he seems so real to me even despite this being an animated feature. And I also admit to enjoying his programmed life of collecting and compacting. What I wasn't expecting was the hope that this film has in abundance, even when it seems things are bad or that evethything that characters have believed in has let them down in a way. WALL-E never seemed to lose that enthusiaum for living and overall I noticed that the point of the film is to keep going and dont give up on life because it can surprise you. My mum sat by me and I recall saying, "they can't grow anything there, it's impossible" . Sure enough my mum said "don't be surprised if it turns out to actually work in the end". And she was right as that is what happens in this film. I then wondered if the film was made for those of us who maybe haven't given up on life but might have a certain sense of sadness towards the future. Humans return to earth after what seems like forvever and are able to make their lives into something different then the comfort of the space mall they are living in. Even with our polluted world, we can still clean it up and make the earth the beautiful place we want it to be. Thank's Pixar and thanks for the video💎

6:00 I remember a teacher putting that on for class for human development and my dumbass blurted “first nut” when that happened and people either laughed or were shocked or both. The teacher did both. I mean look at him, does he not look like he got the “it was me Barry” treatment I implore u to watch “WALL•E ending sad version”. It’s just a more realistic version of how it would go down and if anyone complains about how stupid it is for the kiss to return his memory, show them that vid and ask them if that would be a satisfying conclusion. It’s also a cool detail how the movie still has humanity be the ones that lead to the possibility of fixing earth. As if it will always be our responsibility and there will always be a possibility to fix things no matter how irresponsible we are. And that’s what BnL was, foolish and irresponsible despite its brilliance. BnL was never evil, just stupid. And I actually prefer there wasn’t a villain, just idiots. And things strangely cuz BnL still helped. They made WALL•E and EVE and the ship that kept humans alive. They accidentally set the path to fixing everything. However it is only because the robots never gave up (prob cuz it’s their job and purpose) and had to become more human than the same humans who got too lazy to try again until 700 years later. And this is still the only romance movie I actually really like besides Scott pilgrim. Like those 2 are the only ones I really care about. As for ur one critique, BnL was resolved cuz it was largely forgotten but then their mistakes were uncovered. BnL led to the folly of all, including themselves and became known as the guys who made robots, messed up earth, and got as lazy as the people. They will forever be known as a Greek tragedy among the humans and to never be irresponsible with such inventions and expansions Also let’s be honest, Mary would’ve acted like an iPad kid when their iPad gets taken away. She should’ve lost her mind. Which also reminds me how a lot of people didn’t like the idea of Toy Story 5 having electronics vs toys when I think it could actually be a really good story (I’d prefer if woody stayed out of it) and many claimed it was just gonna be “electronics bad” but WALL•E kinda already did it and did it well. I don’t see how tackling screen addiction is a problem when it works for that kinda of story Hot take: I still I want that WALL•E future. Except for being hooked to screens and the dead earth, I welcome our robot overlords. After generations of fighting for our jobs I hope there will be an era where we won’t have to work or struggle cuz robots can do everything for us, even to the point they’ll repair each other and we won’t need tech based jobs. There will be no labor or work unless we choose to out of passion… or boredom. This will prob never happen but I want an age of civilization where we can just be lazy and comfortable without worrying about bs that would come with it, especially an asshole who’d program a robot to act like skynet for clout. And let’s be honest AI can prob run a nation better than humans. Can’t be tempted by greed if u can’t feel anything. Unless a party programmed it to do as they’d want. Anyways I want floating hover chairs and talking garbage cans
