I have travelled many times in China. Last October I accidentally left my laptop in the train when I got off in Hangzhou in the morning. Our group was carrying a lot of luggage plus a we had a toddler with us, so I did not notice this until we returned to our hotel room that evening. We were in panic and changed our passwords because I had may data in the laptop. My laptop travelled all the way to Wenzhou, a different city in a different region in China. Someone found it and handed it to the station office there. Next morning i went to Wenzhou and got my laptop back. It was quick and straightforward. I deeply appreciate the helpfulness, honesty, and sense of duty of the Chinese.

Same thing, i left my bag with money inside on the train in China ...not untill i reached home did i realize it.. The train was going to different provinces, i called the rainway service number, told them my seat number, the next day when the train came back, i went to the station to take it, they asked me to check if everything was there, i checked, everything was inside. I'm Chinese, I was not even worried that the money will be taken, i knew it would come back safe and sound..

I visited China about 8 years ago and left a bag on the metro with my wallet in it. I got to my hotel and told the front desk. They called my phone and the person who picked up was from the police station. Someone had dropped it off there. Til this day I greatly admire the honesty of the Chinese people

We went to Beijing 3 or 4 years ago. We joined a guided tour to the Great Wall and had a long day out. The return trip was by coach, and we were all extremely tired when we finally got back to out hotel. One person in my group realized 10 minutes too late that her backpack with all our passports, her phone, and a good amount of money had been forgotten on the bus. Wary of China as we were, she started crying and some of us panicked. I went to ask the reception if there was any chance to get the backpack back. They scrambled and called the agency, who called the owner of the coach, who at 1AM, after dropping off other guests at their hotels, took the time to travel from the other side of the city to return our bag. Not a single Yuan was missing. I tipped the guy the equivalent of USD 50 and I have never been so relieved in my whole life. Given the bad name that China has in terms of scams, tourist traps, etc... I have to say that I did not expect much and I was extremely surprised by how nice and honest everyone was. An impression that I confirmed many more times again when travelling back to China after that time.

I accidentally left my handbag in Shanghai railway station and realised that after the train was halfway to my destination. I went into complete panic as i had all my money, passport and credit cards inside. The staff on the train actually called back to the station for help, then put me on a return train to Shanghai without a ticket. In Shanghai someone had brought my handbag to lost and found. And to redeem my handbag. I had to tell them at least 2 items inside. And when i got the bag. I was asked to check that everything is intact. I was completely bowled over by people's honesty in such a crowded station.

This is the normal and usual behavior of everyone in China. I twice forgot my handbag will all my money and documents at two different airports and both times recovered them with everything there was inside. Several times I also left coats, jackets, umbrellas and other objects in public places, squares, streets, restaurants, etc and always found them in the exact spot where I had left them. I am living in Australia. I just was on a trip to China, my motherland, 3 weeks ago. I got off the plane in Guangzhou and walked to the subway, I had too many luggage. I forgot a backpack when I passed the security scanner. In the backpack there was one work laptop, one iPad, one drone, one 360 camera and some cash. Totally worth US$10,000. I realized it when I was already in the subway two stops away. I took the train back, and rushed back to the security lady. It was after 30minutes. She passed it to a lost and found department. Then another lady asked what are inside. I told her and she checked it quickly and gave it back to me. I get everything back.

I had this experience in China, I went to a remote village for sightseeing and when I was back in the hotel that is situated in the city, found my money pouch missing. The money pouch contains one million Chinese yuan and my home currency. I made a police report and the best part was my money and all the contents were returned to me in the hotel. Nothing was taken from the money pouch. I wanted to give a reward, to the finder but was turned down by the finder. This is a great China

During any natural disaster, everyone from all over the country rushes to the site to help without even a break for days. When COVID-19 first broke out in China, many doctors and nurses from other provinces went to Wuhan to help and stayed there for a few months until things were under control. A young singer, who was not very famous at that time, was invited to do this experiment on a street, and the street was not very crowded but with enough passers-by, they had tried a few times with different results, and the whole team was happy. I travelled to New York last Oct and left my mobile phone in the yellow cab from the airport to my hotel in Times Square. As soon as I got off the taxi I realised I've left my phone in the cab so I asked my hotel concierge to call the yellow cab company - I happened to get the receipt for my taxi ride payment so I had the exact information on the taxi number & time for them to locate the driver. The taxi company couldn't care less!! Took my hotel info but never call me back! I borrowed my hotel phone to call the taxi company a few times, eventually they told me sorry the driver didn't find anything! I had a terrible time in NYC due to this and won't bother to visit this shitty place again!

I went to Paris for sightseeing before the pandemic. I checked out from a small a hotel near Arc de Triomphe in the morning but left my camera in the hotel room. When we got in Louvre Museum and found out left behind camera we called the hotel. The hotel said that their maid had already cleaned the hotel room and found no camera. Similar experience happened to me in a large hotel in U.S. We can never get back our belongings even left in our room in hotels. For this reason I would enjoy my trips to China.

One time at a park, I noticed a credit card someone dropped on the trail side. It was still valid based on the expiry date. I said to my wife I got to pick it up and hold on to it so that the owner had the time to cancel it. If I didn’t do that, someone else might pick it and spend the money online or at stores. So, this is one instance a Chinese person does pick up something other people dropped off.

Several years ago, our family went to Paris, had food at some food court just beside Louvre museum, several minutes after I left the table where we sit, I realized my iPhone was left there, I rushed back, nothing there, asked the people sit nearby tables and the food court management person, no any help from them… it was really frustrating, though the phone is just several hundred dollars, but I had so many photos taken when I traveled in Rome, Venice… all the memories gone 😭
