First time seeing this one and holy moly. Maybe best ski film ever. To get to hang with Shane and all these guys back when they were just nobody ski bums competing with each other truly does capture the heart of skiing IMO. Thank you for making this slice of ski history available to us that will never stop climbing our own Walls of Freedom. RIP Robb and Shane. Thanks for all the gnar

This is a Great ⛷ Ski film! 😊 The equipment back then also took more work then the new shaped Skis we have today. We can Thank Shane MCConkey for that since the reason we now have wider skis was his idea. These guys make Skiing ⛷ look so easy, all very fine athletes with such smooth, technical skills! Polished.Thank You Scott for filming this. Finally Robb and Scott you seem to have done so much to help with Lake Tahoe Conservation in the fight against "reckless development" at Olympic Valley. Thank You. 😊 Robb, I said a prayer 🙏 for you and your Family this morning at mass in Tahoe. 😇 Condolences to your Family.

Interesting…given the gear of the day, even the best skiers looked like they were working hard and really putting their skills to the test on these lines…now days, the best skiers (with modern skis) make even the gnarliest lines look easy. For non-pro skiers like me, there is something more relatable in the old style. Will they land it or won’t they?!
@patrickchase5614 Жыл бұрын
There's also a difference in preferred skiing aesthetics. In this movie people make turns in stuff that would be straightlined today, or that wouldn't be featured at all. The skiers in this movie (especially Shane) were perfectly capable of straightlining those lines in 1995, too. I rode 212 Atomic SGs all mountain back then, and stability/speed was not a problem. Sustained, tight steeps over exposure really aren't skied much differently now, either - windshield-wiping is still the order of the day. It's just not seen as something worth putting in a movie any more. To be sure there have been significant equipment-driven advances but you can also see the beginnings of the new school in this movie. That's one of the things that make it such an interesting document.
