The newer basic ride on mowers are nothing like those from a few years ago. The new stuff is built to last a couple years and get scraped. Most of them don't sell replacement part's for them. Yes they might sell air filters, blades and a few other small items but the rest is disposable. If you are lucky you might be able to find used parts, but who knows how long they will last. There's not that big of a price jump between these and the next step up in riders where you can get parts to repair them. In some cases it can be as little as $150 to $200 more, and you get a mower that will last you a lot longer especially if you take a little care of it.

agreed, the manufactures are there to make a profit, some parts are plastic and not serviceable. it is a shame they do that

riding mower prices are insane since COVID - I was at Home Depot the other day and they had very basic riders with FNR like these and they were priced over $2300! Speaking of riders, hope to see some more of the old school video action this year with that stuff. Radios are cool and all but got some legacy stuff too? I'm working on a Craftsman DGT6000 with the 27hp kohler twin right now like you had in an old video. Love from Knoxville.

Excellent video Eric :) my one neighborhood neighbor got Yard Works one 48 inches cut bed and Briggs & Stratton has oil filter only thing surprises me louder than one I have mine is Troy Bilt with 436 CC single cylinder motor Synchmatic transmission daul pedal one left is clutch also brake pedal , right size is slow to faster speed push , 3 gallon fuel tank it small one but 2 times before fill up again to ! 1 quart engine oil only to fill plus oil filter included 10w30 engine no synthetic type ! Engine Oil very efficient May To October last for ! But only thing don't like you only cut grass cutting for 3 hours then wait 2 hours to cool down continue after or get back fire from engine and not way override that feature it keep electrical power to starter at 14.0 Volts and Recharge battery to that what dealer told me it 2021 model plus 28 hp ! Old TORO had was 2009 with 19 hp Courage single cylinder Kohler and go for 8 hours or more no problem and was Automatic transmission plus 5 gallon fuel tank too! No problem till motor screw up on me on gears timing broken apart inside and did regular maintenance on like be but bang that it no longer or get used engine for it! But TROY BILT no bad machine does my 1.5 acres okay!

All these new riders are the same chassis, decks, engine. Just a few cosmetic details are different like seat design or front headlights. The one you just shown is identical to my Craftsman 42 inch except for the cosmetics I described. Same factory different names stamped on them. But at least the motor is a Briggs

$2k? lol, that's insane. They're all disposable garbage; stamped steel, no grease fittings. Every Spring in my area you can snag one for free of couple hundred bucks. Some home owner will leave gas in the carb over winter and no start. Prefer true garden tractors like wheel horse or simplicity, cub cadet from 70s and 80s...indestructible.

@@FarpointFarms if you're handy, no reason to buy new mowers. Old stuff was made much better and looks cool, can run forever. My1987 WH 414-8 got a 321cc Kohler and everything on it is can be rebuilt.

Those are made by MTD who markets several junk brands. They last a season or two before something breaks that isn't worth fixing. It's a sinister business plan to keep making cheaper and cheaper junk and overcharging for it, which is a lot different than when they actually made mowers that lasted (IH Cub Cadet, Gravely, etc.) This one is overpriced by $1,000. That's what I think anyway.
