Wonderful as always Gio. I’ve said it before, and I mean it when I say that one day I shall commission a Tornelli. For some reason this guitar reminds me of Malcolm Youngs Jet Firebird - without all the holes and missing bits! Which I hasten to add is a complement! The pickups sound really detailed, the bridge is like a caged racehorse, you can just tell it’ll effortlessly take you where you need it to, the neck warm, rounded. Brilliant.

Thanks so much for another kind comment, I really appreciate it! It’s funny you say that because I keep plugging this in and cranking the volume with a little bit of gain ala Malcolm and this thing growls! The pickups sound great in that zone but I thought it would be bad form to do a sound demo that way! I’ll be here when you’re ready for a guitar for my friend!😉👍

Hey Gio, that is an awesome design, I think the idea of using the black pearl binding was a great idea as it really sets off the wood colors. Those PU's are really sweet sounding and am glad you made that as an option for your Journeyman guitar. I have also made a guitar with a top of Claro Walnut and I also decided to use an oil finish because, as you also determined you don't want to hide the wonderful features of the wood. Great job overall!! Oh BTW, yea it appears the Davinci Tuners have been discontinued as after watching your previous video I went to purchase some and they were no longer available. 😟That's too bad, as those were a really cool design.

Thanks for the really kind comment Pete. Yes I was really disappointed they stopped making the davinci tuners, I loved them. I have one 3x3 set but I think I just discovered them too late! I really hope they change their mind because I think it’s the best looking tuner they make.

Looks and sounds great Gio. Just a straight up classy guitar. Thank for the shout out. What laser etcher are you using? I am currently looking into a CNC/Laser, and there are a ton of choices. Just wonder what yours is and what the pros/cons of it are.

Thanks Bill, and thanks for the awesome pickups. I’ll have a pro sound demo vid of these soon. I use the Neje laser master. It’s only cheap but I bought it because it doesn’t sit in a frame so I can place it around whatever I’m working on rather than than have to place the workpiece inside a specific area. It’s good for up to 20mm by 20mm so fairly small but I only needed it for logo engraving so it’s perfect. I also just import a png image into the Neje app and hit a button for it to start circling where it is going to engrave and then hit Go, it’s as simple as it gets.

Another beautiful build Gio. You know me and active pickups so when I tell you i like the crisp tone of that bridge pick up it means something haha (in my head anyways) If the neck pickup was just a touch warmer I think that would be the perfect "standard" configuration for the production runs. I was very surprised how quiet they are as far as hum. Specially in that open space with that reverb. Normally there would be feed back issues in that situation. You should still be able to get many many blends between to two to suit pretty much any play style. The looks will not pigeon hole it either like some shapes tend to. All in all great combination that should sell really well once a few people test drive em.
@TornelliGuitars
@TornelliGuitars Жыл бұрын
Thanks Bill, it does mean something! 😂 and thanks for the compliment on the shape. Bill really did a great job on these pickups I love them. Well I’m making a few so I hope people will buy them!😀👍

I'm getting ready to do my first guitar build and hadn't thought of a hardwax oil. I see Osmo mentioned in other comments. Have you used this over a stain before? Does it need a sanding sealer or something after the stain but prior to the hardwax oil? Or would they be incompatible?
@TornelliGuitars
@TornelliGuitars Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it. I haven’t used hardwax oil over stain but I know plenty of people that do. You will just need to be very careful and apply the first couple of coats lightly so that the colour does not get lifted or run. You wouldn’t need to seal after the colour because the hardwax oil needs to penetrate the wood. I hope that helps 👍

Might be a dumb question but why does no one ever color walnut and only things like maple?
@TornelliGuitars
@TornelliGuitars 6 ай бұрын
There are almost no colours that will work on walnut, you’re pretty much restricted to darkening it due to its natural colour. Lighter woods like ash, maple, lighter mahogany will colour predictably. 👍
@sstevens18
@sstevens18 6 ай бұрын
@@TornelliGuitars is there a reason for that or is that just like what everyone does with walnut?
@TornelliGuitars
@TornelliGuitars 6 ай бұрын
@@sstevens18 if I use walnut it’s largely because I like the natural colour and that’s probably why most people do I would guess. Generally speaking the whiter the wood the more you will it will look like the colour of the stain you’re using. If you want to colour something blue for example and start staining a wood which is naturally yellow or orange in colour, you’ll end up with a green guitar. And it gets exaggerated the darker the wood. But if you use white wood it will look pretty much how the colour looks in the bottle.
