Honestly, I think a little candle holder or lamp would be a very simplistic and satisfying way to highlight all the holes. Especially filled with a colored resin.

Make a box lantern, where you clear the worm holes. And fill with resin. Perhaps, put a pointed top with resin windows. Can be solar, battery, electric, or candle driven. The light would play lovely on the walls through the misshapen holes throughout.

You could use the Kintsugi/Kintsukuroi technique for your next worm wood project! It's a Japanese technique to repair broken ceramic vases with gold, I think it would look amazing if you use some sort of opaque gold resin in the worm holes! Kintsugi really beautiful, and the point of it is to show that just because something has been broken doesn't mean it's less beautiful; sometimes it's exactly that that makes it truly shine.

That style of art is called "wabi-sabi (侘寂)", and is really more of a philosophical world-view based on finding beauty in that which is imperfect. Even more than that, seeing the inherent beauty that lies within the imperfections. It is not beautiful despite its imperfections, it is beautiful _BECAUSE_ of its imperfections. It's a fascinating way to view the world, one I rather like. Japanese Buddhist and Shinto culture and philosophy is full of these kinds of ways to view the world and its inhabitants. Lots of stuff I really do recommend looking into.
