What's brilliant to me about this scene is that Walt wins either way. If Jesse would have pulled the trigger, Walt would have died, Brock would have recovered, and Jesse would have spent the rest of his life haunted that he killed "an innocent man". Walt would have been remembered as an innocent victim to both Jesse and his family. For Jesse, he would constantly remember Walt as someone who died because of his "stupidity". For his family, Walt would have died an innocent victim of the crossfire between the cartel hunt and Hank, killed by Jesse Pinkman in revenge for what Hank did to him (if they ever found out it was Jesse). So, yeah, Walt wins either way. I honestly kind of think Walt was hoping Jesse would pull the trigger.

I still can’t help but wonder if part of Walter’s reasoning for poisoning Brock was more about punishing/manipulating Jesse rather than saving his family. Walt knew that while Jesse turned him away, Jesse is vouching to keep Walt alive. All Walt had to do was call Jesse, and tell him that Gus threatened his whole family, including his wife and children. When Saul brought up Gus’s threat to Jesse, Jesse immediately took it seriously and most likely would’ve reached out to Walter if he didn’t poison Brock. I genuinely think Walt did what he did because he wanted to ensure Jesse would be loyal to him, and ONLY to him.
