Imagine if Jesse didn't leave the key there, both of them could just have nice meal, hot bath, some shuteyes, then make more stuff without all the hassle. Absolute nonsense that Walt used the median weights of the bags for this calculation instead of the mean. As such a proficient scientist Walt’s character should never make such a mistake. The advantage that median typically provides over mean is it excludes outliers, which is useful for statistical analyses. But for this calculation, Walt would want to include outliers because they will still be selling each bag at the same rate, scaling with weight, regardless of whether that weight is unusually high or low. He should want to account for every pound. Using median here makes his final figure a rough estimate which is vulnerable to hidden outliers, as opposed to an exact calculation which takes outliers into account.

Why didn’t they just siphon a bit of gas to go into the generator to power the battery for a bit?

They coulda just siphoned gas off the RV, started the gennie again. All of the generators I have seen in the last 20y have a 12v output.
