Dr. Walter Williams is the type of person Barack Obama should have developed into if Obama had been able to expand his political awareness in a logical direction and if he had possessed the principles required to live up to his own dreams.

He sure does, you should also look up Thomas Sowell.

Walter: 'Each individual fully owns him/herself, which means no person can own another person.' Except that if you own yourself as property, you can sell yourself. Hence legitimising non-NAP violating slavery. But if you deny that humans can be legitimately owned as property, and so deny self-ownership, this entails that slavery is in fact immoral.

Presumably, if you "sold" yourself into slavery or even "volunteered" to be a slave, the NAP has not been violated. True slavery is against the will of the slave. If you are complicit, you are not a slave.

As if the unions would ever stand for that.

Perhaps I can help. Social justice is an empty vessel to be filled with any collective fantasy one likes. It is the opposite of true justice. True justice is a level playing field in which all of the participants must abide the same rules. Like baseball. Social justice modifies the level playing field into a rather bumpy political surface, where rules are dictated by the desired results of the political powers. Like affirmative action.

Basically, I agree, but it's a little more complicated than that. What we have here is a conflict between collectivism and individualism, atomism and holism. Look into Alasdair MacIntyre or Charles Taylor if you want your views challenged.

You *can* sell your own body. You can't sell it legally. There's a big distinction there. The legality of the act doesn't determine your ability for self ownership.

Social justice is redundant. Is there such a thing as unsocial justice? Justice is inherently social. Robinson Caruso didn't need such a concept. Adding the word social is a way of introducing different scales of fairness. Scales that compare various groups by a given standard of fairness and seek to redress an imbalance of results. If you make $100,000 a year and I make $30,000. This is deemed unfair and in need of fixing

Williams is of course correct and a solid thinker in this area. However there is quite some irony given the fact that the vast majority of African Americans support slavery. And there is a reason why they support it. Because for those African Americans in support of a heavy tax environment, they see it as a form of reparations upon Caucasian people. And that isn't some wild claim. Listen carefully & ask them the right questions yourself and you will discover what I just told you to be true. -
