why not film the hinge mounted. I am visual and it would improve understanding. My is to fix a dropleaf with a broken wood guide

wish I could see how it works, I’m working on a drop leaf table where one side droops due to bent hinge.

Quesiton: Hi Richard, I have a vintage set of these from an old table that I'm installing. While I was trying to remove rust, it seems that the springs have lost their spring.They have become floppy and loose. My question is: do you think the mechanism will work without the springs? I can't wrap my head around their function. Thanks! Answer: The Walter of Wabash TPDL11201 Steel Spring Bracket Drop Leaf Support Table&Work Surface Components 12" - 1 Pair would not be safe to operate without the springs because their function is to not only keep the table leaf firmly in the upright position they are also they're meant to unintentional prevent the folding down of the table leaf when in the upright position - without the springs I would not consider reusing those I would replace them.

Well what kind of screws are need ed? Will any kind of wood screw do? Like the 2" Phillip's head?

I would suggest using a #5 flat head screw for the attaching of the Walter TPDL11201 Steel Spring Bracket Drop Leaf Support. The thread type, drive type and length you would need to determine based on your application.
