Back in High School we wore full face shields when using wire wheels. You might want to try that rather than just safety glasses when using them to remove rust, etc. as when the occasional wire comes loose it can cause some damage to your face. As for the soldering iron you used to try to fill in the rust pitting - try getting a higher capacity version (e.g. 80W) from a craft supplier that sells tools for glass lead lighting. The soldering iron you used is intended for use for surface-mount component repair - not quite good enough for what you are doing.

A firing test with these weapons would be akin to a suicide... Seems you don't really know what fire arms are !

@@laurentdevaux5617 With these restorations you can put the gun in a vice and pull the trigger with a lanyard from a safe distance. A lot of these gun restoration channels do that.

On that first pistol no attention was given to the barrel. The barrel looked pitted and rusty, it probably had no rifling left. Nice try, but in the end the first pistol looked to be more of a curiosity than a handgun.
