Walther PPQ kills the Glock 19. No question. And I love Glocks. But the Walther PPQ is the best polymer handgun on the market today.

Walther's P99Q series seem to fall apart or kill themselves here in Estonia, when used for Police Duty or training and are being replaced by Glock 19's. The PPQ looks nice but parts availability is poor and hardly anyone uses them as a service pistol, which says a lot and puts me off. However, there are lot of good polymer pistols out there, but Glock seem to be standing the test of time and service reliability.

Stanislav Kokorin sounds about right. People think that just because an Army or agency buys bulk of a product it’s better then another it’s not . It means they can get bulk cheap and Glock parts are more readily available. For the everyday consumer the PPQ has way better value.

When you have several Glocks and specifically well over a grand in a gen4 G19, then lay your hands on and shoot a $550 PPQ, the realization of how bad you got screwed becomes abundantly clear. Your description of "more refined" tho accurate, is an understatement.

I picked up the PPQ Classic, with the trigger guard mag release. I absolutely love it. I give it 5/5 stars in all of these categories: ergonomics, trigger, fit and finish, and reliability. That trigger guard mag release in the classic makes the PPQ the ideal tactical pistol, imho. In fact, now that I have been exclusively training with the PPQ classic, I am going to make sure all of my combat/duty pistols feature that style of mag release. Walther has raised the bar in the pistol market.

My experience: Went into the store thinking I was going to get a Glock, left totally in love with a Walther PPQ. The overall feel (to me) is smoother and more refined. I love the longer throw of the slide release, the mag release is great too, it ejects smoother and easier than the Glock, and the grip (again, to me) is way better. I don't get the "reset" complaint. I was always taught to bring your finger all the way back between shots anyway. It's going to be more consistent from first shot to last if you do it the same way every time. It also means you can fire any gun without noticing the reset. It might cause a few more milliseconds of delay per shot but if you are mowing down enemies faster than you can release and pull a trigger you probably need a bigger gun.

Glock has a timeless design. It is what it is. You get what you get. The Walther PPQ looks like a hi-Point compared to newer compact striker pistols. I would choose a Glock 19.
@JohnDoeEagle12 жыл бұрын
You would be entirely correct. Another telling fact most of these people don't know is Walther discontinued the PPQ in 2021 and folded on their "lifetime" warranty. They are only going to support the pistol and it's replacement parts for 10 years after. That means you got swindled and stuck in a marketing lie. Not to mention no matter what the latest and greatest "GLOCK Killer"....aka "knockoff" that comes out weekly will never equal the pistol they are trying to copy. None of them are as easy and as cheap to maintain or repair. They don't shoot as accurately in highly experienced hands. If you can't shoot a GLOCK very accurately that is on YOU and your lack of practice/skill. They aren't made as well as a GLOCK either....that includes the newer "SIG" (not Sauer) P-320 and P-365 as well. Also includes the S&W M&P, Springfield Armory XDm/XD, HK VP9.....you name it. At the end of the day only ONE winner continues to remain at the top of the hill. Don't be a target for BS marketing and overhype of new products. Last I checked you can still repair a GLOCK Gen 1 G17 as easily as a Gen 5........
@JohnDoeEagle12 жыл бұрын
Should have bought the GLOCK G-19 instead. I still have my first Gen 2 G19 I bought new in 1993 for $379 + 5% sales tax. It has well over 25,000 rounds through it and still works fine with only new recoil springs and a trigger return spring being replaced.. I have four other G19s in Gen 3 form with a EXO Talo, OD Green frame, FDE frame and a all black Blue Label Gen 3 G19.

Great guns, both of them. I almost bought a G19. It's ubiquitous and deservedly so, given it's track record. I have tons of trigger time on G19s. However, I bought the PPQ and couldn't be happier. It's not for everyone, I suppose, but it fits my hand like it was molded just for me. The trigger is everything people say it is. IMHO, best striker fire trigger on the market. I CCW it every day and am willing to trust my life with it, God forbid I should have to.

@OhioState_Barbering2 жыл бұрын
PPQ might be nicer out of the box but if you go beyond that good luck finding the aftermarket support that Glock has reached, Glock magazines in virtually every place that sells guns. Aftermarket slides, lowers, conversion kits, triggers it just goes on and on and on. That being said wish I'd have gotten the ppq before I owned a Canik because I got rid of it when I realized reliability wasn't something I could say about my sfx. I would probably still own the ppq if I went that route. Of course I would have to get use to the weird grip swells, another reason that is off-putting for me for the PDP. Love your content as always
@DanielWeinreb-vc6et9 ай бұрын
PDP now supports Glock sights and the optic cut supports all brands. They also have aftermarket support for triggers and holsters which make it easy to find what you need. There's really no reason not to buy a PDP over a Glock. Out of the box it's just a better gun for about the same price, and to get your Glock anywhere near it you have to spend hundreds.

You would think a company like Walther or Sig for that matter would get it about competing w/Glock regarding the recoil. Its not much more But it is more. Faster follow up shots are just that, faster. Yes the ppq looks refined. Glock has the size to weight ratio down pat along w/the rake (grip angle) of the gun. Most all of other guns in this field feel a tad top heavy (slide). A great trigger on the ppq though. The g19 trigger is not a problem for most I don't think. Suscribed! great channel. Both great reliable guns, but cant agree more with you, my new 9mm PPQ looks and feels more refined and well made than my all time beloved G19, PPQ is fantastic out of the box, to my surprise I can shoot it faster and group tighter. win -win.

Love my PPQ and think its just the perfect pistol straight out of the box, but I still plan to get a G19 eventually. They're just both great, awesome review.

@timetraveler19732 жыл бұрын
got both. i can dump the mag on target faster with the ppq m2 (the difference is the button mag release vs trigger guard mag release) - the trigger just wins it for the ppq for me. it can be an accuarte machine pistole. the glock cannot.
@timetraveler19732 жыл бұрын
could also just be my hands. i got some donald trump hands (dont worry i also have the donald trump penis, tremendous and yugge) i can just put 5-15 rounds on target twice as fast with the walther . both are good and accurate. but if im dumping a mag and wanting it to hit. personally i want the ppq.

The Glock actually supports the "switch" that is now flooding the black market. I don't think they exist for the PPQ.

Great comparison! I am thinking of picking up a PPQ or a HK VP9 or a MR9. Can you make a comparison between those guns? The Price of the MR9 is pretty cheap compared to the others but I am worried about finding a holster or any accessories for it. I wonder if the holster for a P99 would fit the MR9 (4inch model) Thanks again for great comparisons.
@TheFirearmGuy8 жыл бұрын
You could always check with multiholsters. They make holsters for everything

Can I buy a 33 round mag for the ppq like I can for the g19 ? Can I buy a sub compact ppq like pistol that parts are interchangeable between the two guns in case one gun breaks . So I can use it for spare parts ? You can with blocks right ?

Yes you can with Glock

Dan, Dan, Dan....Loved your new intro: "Shootin" to the music" and good music, LOL. Well done. PS: Don't get me wrong, "Hey there friends thanks for checking in" is like a familiar friend. Just liked the overall effect of your new into. I liked your review, especially the consideration for lefty's. Beyond that, I've been thinking of getting a higher capacity at home pistol that has a rail for a flashlight/laser. But, since it's not carry, I'd like to go 40 S&W. Any good suggestions? (Lefty friendly preferred)
@TheFirearmGuy8 жыл бұрын
The PPQ is available in .40 which would be a great choice. Also an MR40 by Magnum Research is excellent as well. Its made with a Walther frame

When people talk about glock reliability, it is my understanding that the increased reliability comes from the minimally supported chamber in the glock barrel. This can cause in some cases ( though rarely) weak spots in casings to blowout where they are not supported. Dont take this as an attack please...I just want to understand why people would rather risk blowing off their fingers so they can have a gun that will fire when never lubed cleaned or dropped in a mudpuddle than a pistol that will only fire if they clean and lube it every 1000 rounds or so....
@DanielWeinreb-vc6et9 ай бұрын
If I recall correctly the PPQ did as well as or even better in the MAC "Gauntlet" torture test. There was only one or two failures to fire in the 3rd stage if I recall correctly, and the Glock didn't make it that far.
@danbush12494 жыл бұрын
PPQ all the way. Glock doesn't even try to make it comfortable in your hand. PPQ is a Glock that's been refined. I though my Glock was the best gun I've owned, until my PPQ came along. Trigger on the PPQ is so good. I'd like to trade my Glocks to get a few more PPQs.

Hi Dan! I hope this message finds you all doing well! I hope you had a fun, safe and good Halloween-and that your little one got good candy and had a blast! It's always the greatest feeling in the world to see the kids light up and smile with the magical feelings they have during the holidays. I've gotta ask if you've got mind reading powers because, this Walther PPQ comparison to the Glock 19 is exactly one of the ones I wanted to see. Thank you so very much! As you can tell by my email to you that, even though I've shortened down my list for an ETC gun-I'm still having a lot of problems knowing what the industry method of measuring a guns height is. You know, is it from the top of the rear sights to the very tip of magazines that flush fit or even further down to the magazine's that have finger extensions. I really wish I could find out where they measure to and from on the height measurements so, I'd have a better reference point when viewing guns in videos and on paper etc. I thank you very much for all your time and help! You're too amazing Dan with how you do your videos, the guns you review and your willingness to help others! Take good care my friend and God bless you all! Your friend, The Rev. 😃 P.S. Totally awesome guns you have here! I'd prefer the ergos on the PPQ too. Are there after market night sights for the PPQ too? And how'd you get the Glocks finger grooves removed? Oh, BTW, cause you've been helping out with my new EDC gun decision-my wife and I've decided to nickname the new gun "Dan" after you. In honor of all your help. 😉 You do a great job and thanks again!

Not a Glock fan, but I can respect anyone using one. I have owned both. The PPQ is still in my house. One of the best triggers I have ever put my finger on. As far as striker fired pistols I still lean towards the XD9 Mod2. That's a personal thing from shooter to shooter, but my PPQ is an absolute champ as far as double taps, TRIGGER, feel, and size. Beautiful pistol too. Good review brother! I will say this about my Glock 19... During the time I owned the pistol I had several issues with it. Granted most people that own them love them, but I'm not one of those people. It had more than a couple failures to fire, and it loved to double feed. I also had to replace a broken firing pin before less than 2000 rounds. Pretty much the same thing for my Glock 22 as far as the firing pin... 3800 rounds the firing pin broke. I never had these issues with any other striker fired pistol. Again a great review Dan, but I'll dodge the Glock like ebola and zika.

These are certainly good days with our choices for handguns. When comparing any of the top manufacturers, you really have to split hairs to pick a winner. Compare that to the choices we had ten or twenty years ago.

I have carried a Glock 19 for 30 years and have owned a variety of other model Glocks. But if you like the Glock trigger, you must be used to shooting dart guns. When I find a pistol with all of Glock's advantages, but with a decent trigger, I will be changing immediately.

I also own both of these guns. As good as the trigger is on the PPQ, Its snappy recoil is a turn off. The Glock 19's trigger may not be as refined as the PPQ, but it gets the job done. Also, its recoil is much more controllable.

Good review, I have both...well a few G19's and one PPQ M2 Navy. Still prefer the Glock for daily use but agree, ergo's and trigger go to the PPX, stock for stock.
@stopthephilosophicalzombie90178 жыл бұрын
I don't get that. Why would you prefer a gun for daily use that has inferior ergos and trigger? That just doesn't make sense. Are you just not as comfortable with the PPQ?
@rElliot098 жыл бұрын
Myanameis Beestingz Who says it has better ergo's and trigger? Everyone is different, not one size fits all, not one trigger fits all. I shoot better with a G19, it's the better gun, end of story. When in Afghanistan, during my tours, those I worked with carried G19'..if they carried a handgun. Money no option and they those the best gun for the job. Why I choose it as well. Your insult of why I'm not comfortable demonstrates an amateur attitude and aptitude as well.
