Cable uses the polymer frame, and he hunts super powered beings with it. So yeah I’ll stick with the polymer. Also he is from the future, so he had the steel frame available to him. Another thing, he choose to duel carry the polymer framed Q5 instead of one and one. Case closed 🤨

@@sclegalcarry7979 Apparently Walther makes an adjustable competition trigger for the PPQ series that bypasses the drop safety to deliver a sublimely sensitive trigger with a light break, but there is some issue about importing it to the U.S. as designed. Liability issues or something.

I would lean toward the steel frame for competition, as several features give it some possible advantages. For range use or home defense, the polymer outdoor be more than adequate.

I shot with a guy that took 3rd in the USPSA in NC this weekend. He had the Q5 steel frame. It was so super fast in his hands and he had no issues that Q5 it was smoking hot all day.

I love my SF; it shoots real nice! Going back to a PPQ M2 is like a night and day difference. The recoil on the M2 is off the charts comparatively. I did order a steel guide rod from SSguiderods; so I’m hoping that helps out the little PPQ a bit

The major issue with the steel frame is it will eventually start to cut into your thumb joint because of the way the beaver tail is cut. Too bad this is the case it as its definitely a design flaw. This is why I sold my SF and bought the Polymer and have never looked back.

The stock SF grip is a bit larger than my PPQ 4" and hitting the mag release is a little slower for competitions. But there are 3rd party grips out now which you can tune (LOKgrips is what I'm trying now). Steel frame shoots a lot flatter and with a RMR my accuracy and times are way up.

The Blue Trigger is the best stock Trigger of any polymer gun in the market right now, the reset after firing is 1 millimeter or less resulting in highly accurate groups and fast firing for competition. Check out some more reviews on it :)

The slides are interchangable, the barrel is not. It locks down on the frame differently. I have both guns and a regular PPQ. All nice guns but the steel frame is the best. I even bought the 5.5" threaded barrel for it.

Interesting video, I have a IMI MR9 which is a clone of a early P99. I like it A LOT. I ALSO have a Grand Power X-Caliber which is also VERY NICE. I like it A LOT as well. Would like to find a indoor range that has both Walthes to rent so I can compare them against my other favorite pistols.🤔😁👍

Graham Baates I got the G43 when it first came out, and not two months later the PPS M2 came out, and I was kicking myself for not waiting. Fun fact, when I first got my PPQ, I asked Walther on their Facebook page if they could make an M2 version of the PPS with the same grip texture, palm swells, front cocking serrations, & push button mag release. About a year later they debuted the M2 at SHOT. I went back and my comment had been deleted....

@@DrRosko I understand the cost for materials is higher. The point I was trying to make is it cost double the price of the polymer frame but it's not twice as better. The original q5 is a hell of a gun and probably the best competition pistol to come stock from a factory. Is the gun a little more higher quality? Yea, but not by much. Definitely not worth double the price.

Don't even need to watch this and I will anyway but for competition it's steel frame better everything balance recoil management the list goes on. In fact I'm hopeful other manufacturers get on this train glock and S&W need to come up with a steel framed pistol for competition that would be great. This pistol I'm willing to give it a try in replacing my competition guns. The price is right and the trigger is great right out of the box..

Q5 Poly or Q5 SF (steel frame)?!?!? Neither! The Master Manufacture Q5 SF Black Tie or Patriot models come with the new Walther "Dynamic" trigger. This "Dynamic" trigger assembly is incredible. I own and regularly shoot a Pardini GT9 6", so I have a good idea what an exceptional handgun trigger should be. Glad I was able to provide the correct answer to this question.

I would have gone with the CZ myself. That being said, I do own the Q5 M2, in polymer. ( And love it!) I think Walther missed the mark, with this SF series of pistols. They may have been better served, if they had done something like Colt did, & dusted off some of their older designs. Say something like the P-38. Just my 2 cents on the matter. Also, for those who dont like the blue trigger, if this gun is compatatible with the Apex PPQ trigger, then your problem is solved, the Apex trigger is excellent and comes in all black. I just dont know if its 100% compatable. Can anyone confirm?

It is compatible, but the blue trigger as funky as it looks is the best stock trigger there is on the market with its 1 or less millimeter reset resulting in tight groups and extremely fast shooting.

I never mention prices as they change and the video can not, plus commenting a price leads KZbin to believe I'm trying to sell which is incorrect. If someone is seriously interested they should look up the price in their region at the time they are looking to buy. Several of the guns I have reviewed have fluctuated wildly in price since their respective videos came out. If your intent was to complain about the price difference you should look up the cost of squirting plastic into a mold versus CNC machining steel.

Yeah, it's a little hard to swallow. At this price I wish the trigger was even crisper and lighter than the stock ppq even if it was just by a little bit. A lot of guns it's competing with have sub 3 lb triggers. This is full blown msrp though so hopefully if walther makes enough of these supply will go up and the price will come down.

17 round mags same as standard ppq mags except for the base plate. Obviously would be double stack at this capacity because if it was single stack the mag would be like a foot long out the bottom of the gun.

I'm really not that impressed with the CZ Shadow 2. Cosmetically, it is superior to the SP 01, but the SP 01 has better ergonomics ( for me) and a crisper trigger. Overall, I don't feel it is worth nearly twice the price. The Walther q5 steel is interesting, but I doubt it is better than the CZ tactical sport.....

This whole Steel frame 9mm trend is ridiculous. It's 9 millimeter! Widely considered the minimum for expandable self-defense ammunition. Shooting a 9 feels like a pellet gun next to a 357 mag. Let's just do this okay?! Let's just shoot the Kel Tec CP33 in IDPA. Better yet...let's ask Ruger to make a 30 round Mark IV. Full steel 22lr? That really gets rid of that pesky recoil.

The muzzle flip is more than a Glock but to me it's not a deal-breaker. In the end it's really just about your affinity with a certain gun. Though what I can tell you is that the steel frame version is a waste of money. Past a certain skill level, there will be no difference in split time and a lighter polymer frame would only give you advantage in draw speed and target transition.
