Hi Walt, you're right about "Killing and Dying" its a fantastic book, the last story in it "Intruders" was really well made and I loved it. I was going to buy The Eightball compendium but I really hate such a tight binding!, was it possible to see all the panels close to the centre of the page? by the way loving your videos mate.
@WaltsComicBookChannel7 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! About Eightball... nothing is lost in the binding, but you need strong hands to make that happen, especially for volume 2. It's not that bad, but just not a very pleasant read because of that, also kind of annoying for such a high-end book by such an experienced publisher like Fantagraphics.

This is great. Loving all those titles that I didn't know it before. Specially for the ones that you take a time indicating that you made or will make a video.

I loved Big Questions, even more than Essex County by Jeff Lemire. I was thinking of doing a review of the both. I love your collection!!! Of course I see one's that Ive had in my cart for ages that now I must have. So thank yous and urrrggghhhh are in order lol. I would love to hear you talk more into depth about the anthology books. I have a few myself but some of the Drawn & Quarterly, the Kramers Ergot and such I don't have but want to know more about.
@WaltsComicBookChannel8 жыл бұрын
The Kramers Ergot I didn't enjoy THAT much, frankly. There were some fun and weird parts in it, but mostly it falls under: Experimental. Don't get me wrong: I enjoy that in doses and/or from certain artists, but it's not the kind of comics I'm actively looking for.
@gffggdfsxfghtr7cggggry5s8 жыл бұрын
Walt's Comic Channel Yea I know what you mean, I just purchased a small anthology book called Gang Bang Bong 2 with some underground artists and it was very "experimental", and hard to talk all in at once.

cool video! What a great collection! I hope to have one of my own and startet recently. And yes some comic content is sometimes so tiny that I have the same reading problems. Incal is now by Splitter in German I think, having an older softcover edition I am going to upgrade to HC.

What's that Simon Hanselmann book next to Eel Mansions with the black spine? If you like Untold History of Marvel I would recommend Secret History Of Marvel Comics by Blake Bell. It is more on the earlier history of Marvel and pre-Marvel but it is a very good read.

Oh, that's a German edition of Megg&Mogg. Interestingly enough, it has different stories compared to the American edition. And it's slightly bigger (but I prefer the smaller format in that case, works better with the art)
@gffggdfsxfghtr7cggggry5s8 жыл бұрын
+Walt's Comic Channel I noticed the European Megg & Mogg books had didn't stories in them too, which is why I bought the Spanish edition along with the English books.

Been reading almost exclusive indie books right now. Highlights include Guy Delisle's Hostage. Soo great. I read Tomine's Summer Blonde. Was good, got better as it went along. I wanna read Killing and Dying ! Still need to get Young Frances from Adhouse, and Clyde Fans by Seth is coming next year!

Greetings from Romania. Great to see Istoria Benzii Desenate Româneşti in your collection.
@WaltsComicBookChannel8 жыл бұрын
Salut! I was born in Bucharest, so not such a big surprise ;) Are there any Romanian graphic novels out there? Is there a scene? Would love to know more...
@theushersden8 жыл бұрын
Nice! The comic scene here is pretty nonexistent unfortunately, although there are talented writers and artists. There are a few graphic novels out once a few years but nothing has made a big splash. On the more commercial side I think the most succesful are a couple of comics inspired by Romanian folklore: Harap-Alb Continuă and TFB (Tinereţe Fără Bătrâneţe) - this one has even a SF twist to it. These are usually collected in trades every few months.
@WaltsComicBookChannel8 жыл бұрын
Cool, thanks for the recommendations! My girlfriend's currently on a business trip to Romania. I will ask her to get those for me.

The 25 years of D&Q for sure, but it's not really an anthology. From the monthly ones, I only buy ISLAND. And regarding TPBs/HCs... The American Comics ones are pretty good. The last Kramers Ergot I didn't enjoy that much.
@88feji6 жыл бұрын
Hi Walt, your copy of The Incal looks like it has amazingly rich color renditions ... I'm not sure if its due to the video's quality. I have seen some copies of it sold in my country (Singapore) and the colors look rather washed out somehow, its kind of disappointing having owned other Moebius's books which have beautiful colors ... So I'm surprised your copy of The Incal looks a lot better than those sold in my local book stores ....
@WaltsComicBookChannel6 жыл бұрын
Hey man. If it's the same Publisher (Humanoids) I can't imagine the colors to be different. Anyways, you should wait with buying cause Humanoids is reprinting the oversized edition of the book. Yes, it'll be pricey, but very much worth it!! The smaller edition (that I have) is hardly readable, frankly...
@88feji6 жыл бұрын
Good to hear that .... back to the color issue, I believe the color rendition varies from time to time due to different print runs over the years, sometimes the calibration for a particular title in a particular year may look different from that of another year ... I've observed that with picture books when I compare the older copies from my local ibrary with the new copies sold online ... it has always been frustrating for me because often time I buy a book due to having seen it from my local library but many times when it arrives in my mail box the copy I bought has a different color rendition when I compare with the one in my local library (sometimes warmer, sometimes cooler, sometimes less rich etc) ... just saying ... Anyway I'm glad to hear from someone who admires Moebius's works too :)

@@WaltsComicBookChannel The lack of English translations could be problematic but if you want to get some for your collection nonetheless, how about: 1. Tymek i Mistrz (Tim & the Master) - recently it got a lovely 3-volume hardcover deluxe edition (Wydanie Zbiorcze) which includes every single newspaper episode. 2. Jeż Jerzy (George the Hedgehog) - from the same creators as comic #1 but this one's far more crass & vulgar (adults only :P). Also got a 2-volume hardcover deluxe edition (Dzieła Zebrane). The comic even got an animated movie adaptation. 3. Osiedle Swoboda (The Liberty/Promiscuity Estate) - adult content. I think there are 4 collected editions overall. Two of them appear to be spin-offs. 4. Kajko i Kokosz - basically a Polish clone of Asterix.
