OK gang...honestly box time, I had been to a Christmas party prior to filming and editing this, so if this is messy - blame the proseccos!!

Winters orbit is a really good MM bodyguard romance as well, not to spacey as it’s set primarily on a planet, lots of political intrigue as well. I really loved it

This sounds like a good idea. I hope the ones you decide to read you enjoy :) I've not read Winter's Orbit but I have it as it sounded really good. I might try and do something similar in 2025. I absolutely loved Shadow of the Fox. I read them a couple of years ago and was obsessed, the entire series is one of my favourites.

I highly recommend Realm Breaker. It gives massive LotR’s vibes/epic fantasy. The prologue alone had me going 😱😱😱

Great idea to do this - you could try reading 2 chapters of each of these books. For my 2025 reading goals I will keep the AAPI and non-fiction books I didn’t in 2024 read on my TBR and keep the goals of unhauling a book for each book bought or acquired and reducing book purchases (using Litlte Free Libraries and the public library) as well as buying mostly used. Also I will challenge myself to read a book on my owned TBR for each book purchased. Overall purpose: spend less, own less, and read what I own. Also I want to keep my own LFL supplied.

Shadow of the Fox and Sing Me to Sleep are good. I would recommend trying Winters Orbit. Don’t bother with Seven Faceless Saints it wasn’t great.

I have read Realm Breaker. I read Red Queen before reading it so I know I like the Author. It’s definitely more along the lines of high fantasy. It jumped around a little too much with different POVs then I like not just 2 povs. I will try to finish the series.

Highly recommend Sing Me to Sleep. I too haven’t been enjoying YA lately, but that one was a good one. Hope you enjoy it.

I DNF Sing me to Sleep at about 30% which honestly hurt because the fairyloot edition was beautiful but... not for me, I ended up selling it on vinted. I really love your videos! And I hope you have a merry Christmas 🎉

I actually really enjoyed Lore. I think it lived up to the slightly older teen Percy Jackson idea. I also read Seven Faithless Saints, the worldbuilding and mystery were unique but not enough for me to read the second one.

As I have grown older, YA books don't suit me anymore but I enjoyed The Reappearance of Rachel Price and am currently reading A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Holly Jackson is an amazing writer.

I'm old. I still love and read YA a lot, probably more than adult fic/fantasy. Adult fantasy tends to be a lot darker/sexier than YA and I have enough going on in my life, that sometimes I just want something that's going to take me out of reality, not bring me back, if that makes sense. I also love to read middle grade and children's books as well. They tend to be faster reads and are just as detailed as YA or even adult books. I do work with kids in a library, so as a bonus, it helps me give them recs or know what they're talking about. But, everyone has different reading tastes. You seem to be narrowing in on yours and that's great! You're curating your library to what you will want to see and read. (Just don't forget to give other age levels a try if it catches your attention...still a ton of great books out there written for younger readers!) Lore is on my TBR as well. I have the OC version. It sounds interesting, but so do a lot of books...and such mixed reviews out there. I really liked the Guinevere Deception and have read the 2 sequels. They aren't as good as the first, but I did overall like the whole series. A different take on the Arthur legend, one that really just focuses on Guinevere.

i adored winter's orbit! i think it's definitely worth at least trying, and if you don't like it you can always dnf and move on! on the other hand, i personally really hated lore - i honestly can't remember the details of the book anymore, but i just remember really hating it and being mad at it bc it should have been a book i enjoyed based off the blurb! i was so disappointed by it! 😅

I don't gravitate to space sci-fi books. It's too Star Trek/Star Wars for me. I didn't mind the shows when I was little but I'm not really into that anymore. If it leans into a bit of fantasy and dystopian I am more apt to read it. I have a ton of backlog books to read with new ones coming in each month. I'm horrible about adding new books to my tbr when someone I follow raves about it. I think I would need to hide in the woods for a year with no access to my accounts except for my audiobooks and physical books to get through them. Since that isn't happening, I'm doomed. My kids will get a ton of really nice untouched special editions whenever I pass on 🤣
