Deadlifts helped so so so much with my back pain. Usually people tend to avoid them, but a physiotherapist taught me how to do them properly and they became my favourite exercise!

I do agree with all your points, but the gym outfits one is especially critical. When I'm a bit overweight I use tight shirts to remind me to lose weight. It is motivational for me. Looking good to myself is also motivational. I think more people should pay attention to what they wear, not for others but for themselves.

I think what u said about chasing science fact training , perfect body form being overrated is a one sided view. True enough that most of the people do not need or want to be so gym built. Still there are ppl who are at their top form and still aim to look good so they studied the science to squeeze even the extra 1 or 2 percent improvement and that filled them with sense of achievement. That pursuit for perfection should be admired , and I think you should not condemn it just because that’s not your life goal. Instead work on your content. U are getting out of content and repeating urself a lot

he doesnt want/cant reach that level so he just put shame/hate on those guys who are aspiring for it. as the saying goes : “the person who says it cannot be done, should not interrupt the person doing it," Maybe you turning to science based training can get you to the next level. you'll never know.

you have to take everything hes saying as a spectrum, not as an extreme. "perfect form is overrated" does not mean you should chase shit form (two opposite ends of the spectrum), but rather, you should strive to have good form, but not obsess over it so much that it gets in the way of your progress (higher on the spectrum, but not 'too' high). likewise, "filming yourself to improve your form" does not mean chasing perfect form at the cost of everything else (two opposite ends of the spectrum), but rather, you should strive to just improve your form overall, once youve got the exercise downpat (higher on the spectrum, but not 'too' high). taking what everyone is saying as an extreme instead of an opinion on a spectrum is a very fast way to confusion and frustration. im also talking to you @davidmun1601
@xins3580
@xins3580 7 күн бұрын
The point i believe he is trying to make is to not get stuck in the details when starting out as simply lifting consistently will give you 90% of the benefits. Filming yourself was meant for later on to correct potential mistakes that could cause injuries or stagnation in progress.

@@xins3580 In fairness, this guy has made a number of other dubious comments. For one, how does he compare bench press to overhead press? They do not work the same muscles?
@xins3580
@xins3580 7 күн бұрын
@@davidmun1601 he also said you can do incline dumbbell press. Saying that those exercises are more useful for daily life. He didn't say that the bench press has no use. And he isn't wrong in saying that dumbbell press is better in most cases. Use your brain to understand what is being said instead of getting hung up on details.

Training flat bench, incline bench and overhead press once a week (ideally on different days) can be very beneficial. The flat bench may not be very functional, but since you can lift the most weight on it of the three, it does improve strength, power and boosts the growth hormones, which will carry over to the other two, more functional lifts. And yes, dips are underrated.
@davidmun1601
@davidmun1601 7 күн бұрын
I get that functional exercises are great, but the overhead presses do not work the chest muscles. What if the goal is to grow the chest? Overhead presses will do very little

Yeah, people with all the complex knowledge sometimes forget that the reasons why 90% of people fail in training are really basic, and they don't need lengthy lectures about minute details, just better motivation and easy to follow instructions for easy to do exercises.

Generally agree about perfect form. I've recently started lunges without weights, and the way they hit when I properly do slow negatives and decently proper form without cheating to get the expected number of reps in, it was honestly mind-blowing. First 2 workouts with these lunges were the best workouts I'd ever had; improved my focus on form for the rest of the workout. Helped me reach failure without ego-lifting weight amounts I can't handle in proper form. So yes, perfection is unnecessary, and sometimes a dirty movement is the best you have available until you get a little stronger and can handle correct form. But don't underestimate how much more you can get out of doing things a little more properly, instead of going for higher numbers.

I've fallen into the trap of overthinking form and to a lesser extent the science behind working out. I'm a few months into building consistent habits and of late I've really been obsessing about my form and making sure I'm hitting the muscles I want to target with certain movements. But I've found that I unconsciously revert to the form that's most comfortable for me. Also gym outfits is definitely underrated lol. Especially if you get compression shirts and/or pants. I used to not really care much for them, but aside from being form fitting and letting you observe the progress you've made, they also feel really good.

@Pakitorocker
@Pakitorocker 10 күн бұрын
you can do a pretty good full body workout with dumbbells only, in fact it's probably your best option if you're just starting to workout. Most common dumbbell exercises are: - biceps: curls and hammer curls - triceps: kickbacks, skullcrushers and overhead extensions - shoulders: shoulder press for front-delts, lateral raises for side-delts (the most important part if you want good-looking rounded shoulders), reverse flies for rear delts - chest: pushups and floor press if you don't have a bench - back: dumbbell rows and reverse flies also hit your back - traps: dumbbell shrugs - quads and glutes: dumbell squats (there are many variations like bulgarian-split, goblet, zumo, etc just google it and choose the one you enjoy the most) and lunges - hamstrings: probably the most tricky one to hit properly with just a pair of dumbbells. Some deadlift variation would be your best option - calves: calf raises if you don't know how to perform some of those exercises just search them on YT and you'll find hundreds of tutorial videos

Have had to grapple IRL occasionally during my sixty years, so benching is a functional motion for me. I do pin presses for safety, as well as the deadlifting skill that normal benchers miss. Floor press with axle bar is practical also, helppful if ever pinned by a vehicle or machinery IRL.

Disagree about science based lifting. Science is literally studying how things work, so a better understanding of how to apply your time is hugely beneficial. Especially if people have limited time/energy, etc. You don't need to go down a rabbit hole but science based lifting is the same as lifting, just smartly
