It seems to me that you and me experience similar joys of taking fire engines to truck workshops. Although for me it's usually more focused on them not wanting anything to do with the fire engine part, as they have no clue and don't want to have any. You can tell them the pump doesn't turn on, there is an air leakage right in front of the rear axle. Truck comes back, they fixed many different lines that looked suspicious to them, but not the actual broken one, because they never ever bothered to turn on the pump be pressing the big button labled "pump on". "Oh you have to press that button to get air there?". Similar experiences with a broken Step for the cab and a air valve for controlling the pump. In the end you always end up doing it yourself, but then you don't get paid for it, but the workshop still gets paid by the department. SO at least you do it for your own fire truck.

If I had the monies for shipping to US, I'd totally grab that guy. Been wanting a Jimny for a long time. That door looks like 30mm square tube and some sheet steel. You could likely use the old door as a template and build your own brand new door. Have someone in country plasma out the window shapes, and transfer the glass. Optima batteries should be 'AGM spiral', no?

Eye protection. Having crud in your eye is not fun. EDIT: Regards the tent, have you considered putting in solid walls and roof between the frame and fabric. Corrugated plastic or ODF?

That make on the International start up reminded me of Merionydd B B diesel at Bala, with its old Atlantian type bus engine. It used to smoke like hell at first, until warmed up. Its got a Cummings in it now and apparently starts better!

Are optima batteries not Spiral AGM batteries or is it just the yellow and blue top?

@@lmm pretty sure the entire optima range is AGM, they are marketed as being safe for car interior for that reason. Shouldn’t affect it too much but may be worth checking when charging next as they can be quite fussy especially if a charger does a decalcification mode
