It's amazing how a powerhouse of a voice could come from that very short person. Dio was and will always be the voice of metal (of course Halford is not excluded) but my Dio, Ronnie's voice was absolutely amazing. Having Iommi & Co. takes everything to a god-like level. Pure talent, raw energy, Absolute masters on their craft.

Ronnie was such an amazing singer... Sabbath was blessed to have a second chance after firing Ozzy... Who would if thought that Ronnie being such a different style singer could come in and knock it out if the park first swing... Ronnie was such a talented singer going back to the dowop of the late 50's early 60's and really had full control of his vocal talents to become one of the greatest heavy metal singers of the 70's and beyond from Rainbow to Sabbath to Dio and back again... God rest his immortal soul...

This to me is why I like the Dio years better than the Ozzy years. With Dio being much more of a natural and talented musician than Ozzy this makes it easier for the rest of the band to be very creative with these songs. With Dio they can experiment and have fun with these songs because with Dio they can alter and add stuff in these live versions an improvise much more than from the studio version of this song. With Ozzy there wasn't near this much alterations from the studio versions of their songs probably because with Ozzy these altered improvised versions to these songs is harder for him to do than it was for Dio. With Dio it was much more natural to have these improvised altered versions. I guess some people like to hear the songs played as close to as possible as the studio versions but for me I like when they get creative and kinda make these old classic songs sound new and fresh. If you want to hear these Black Sabbath songs that always sound like the exact copy of their studio versions than listen to these Black Sabbath tribute bands because these bands are very consistent at playing these songs exactly as the studio versions. For me personally I find this boring as hell but for some people they love it when these songs are played exactly as the studio version. If that is the case than a Black Sabbath tribute band would be better than actually hearing Black Sabbath.

Ronnie James Dio was at the right time and surrounded with the right people, which made his singing and songwriting talents come out optimally. Rainbow with the best guitarist ever Ritchie Blackmore and the best drummer Cozy Powell. Black Sabbath with one of legendary guitarist Tony "Iron Man" Iommy and the best rock bassist ever Geezer Butler who have formed Dio as a great and best vocalist ever. As is well known, in 1975, when Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple and formed a new group called Rainbow, he found Ronnie James Dio, a vocalist for an unknown American band called, ELF. Dio is considered potential and fit to fill the position of vocalist in a new group that will be formed by Ritchie Blackmore. In fact, all ELF personnel, except of course the guitarist, were recruited to form the initial formation of Rainbow.
