Күн бұрын

We're back at another capsule hotel in Tokyo and this time is a retro one ー and it's men only! (And we'll answer the question of why?)
The Salaryman World of the 1970s is still alive at this capsule hotel in Okachimachi, Tokyo. It's a throwback to an era when men worked late and women stayed at home. Although there are now women-only capsule hotels and pods that take both men and women, the capsule hotel and sauna we're visiting is still men's only and has no desire to change ー and that's its attraction! It's authentic.
Since the tourist boom to Japan started in 2014, new capsule hotels have been popping up in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto that cater specifically to the needs of tourists. The modern decor and new hotel-like services raise the price for a stay, but Spa Resort President is no such place. It's a refuge for guys, very few foreigners and a unique feeling of being trapped in time. Privacy is minimal, the bath is excellent and the food is outstanding! It's what Japanese guys are used to.
I have to admit, it's not an experience for everyone. It seems perfect for backpackers or people who just need a pad to crash -- guys only -- but for this episode, we all get a look inside and see what an all male capsule hotel is like. Leave a comment and tell me what you think? Would you stay here?
▶︎ Where is this Capsule Hotel?
SPA RESORT PRESIDENT

I have also been dealing with this issue. There are a few channels that I always go to to calm me down or pick me up. By the way if you have stress issues my favorite channel to relax and fall asleep is "Michael Sealey" he makes sleep hypnosis videos and has specific ones for depression anxiety and so on. BTW a lot of times a lack of magnesium could be the cause of depression and anxiety. I'm not a doctor but I've seen a lot of positive outcomes online.I'm about to try supplementing with it soon. Good luck and have a wonderful day !.

The 'cheapness' of the American hotel could be an indication of how safe it is. When Americans say 'weird', we are referring to something out of the norm, something we aren't used to. Weird could also mean different; it doesn't have to be an insult, as you are suggesting.

This reminds me of the enlisted men's clubs in the military. In different cities where US Forces served there were places that military men could shower sleep and get a meal away from the base or ship. Sometimes they operated on small fee depending on the location. ID was always required. They were a boon if you were away from home.

I like the idea of all women's or all men's hotels. I want to be able to let loose in an environment suited just for me, not have to worry about guys peeping at me. Just doing girl stuff, and hanging with the girls, or just keeping to myself. Heck let the men do their thing and the women do theirs. I see no problem in it. There are plenty of other hotels out there to satisfy the people that don't like it.
@Gambit771

Sharon E Sadly in the west the opposite is true for men only anything. I wouldn't want pervy women peeping at me and trying to take over. Stifling the fun and male vibe going round so these sound great but sadly in the west for men these wouldn't be allowed.

Gambit771 I know what your saying, and yes your right it's stupid. If it's not holding anyone back in advancing in life then why the heck not. Of course I'm not in business so it don't bother me when men are all together doing their thing or visa versa for women. If its business that's needing to be done save it for the office as for rest and relaxation let's just keep the peepers separated.

Are men-only places even possible in the western world nowadays? I doubt it. Women-only places for sure, but men-only? That's not accepted anymore.

After hearing from friends (and you john!) that there was a hotel crunch in tokyo, this is a great alternative to look into :) I'm looking to travel around Osaka when I take a trip to Japan, but my friend wants to be in tokyo for so many days before we move on lol. We can probably stay longer on our budget if we aim for places like this

The production quality on this video is absolutely incredible. This is information-dense, which I love, it's well organized, it's a fascinating topic. I'm seriously impressed. I'd love to see similar coverage of a co-ed capsule hotel if you haven't done it. I've gone from presuming that capsule hotels were strictly for businessmen working remotely for companies with stingy expense-accounts, to genuinely wanting to try at least one night in one as a tourist.

Considering the hotel crunch, please show other options available to visitors - short term or otherwise and show what it would be like to stay there. Karaoke bars, manga cafes, hostels, other lesser known places. Can you overnight at the airport?
@WaoryuONLYinJAPAN

panathenaea you can stay overnight at any airport, but it’s not super comfortable. I’m saving that for when I get trapped with a canceled flight in winter. It’s much more fun when there’s nothing else you can do except film it. I’ve always made a video on Manga Cafes and staying there. It’s a fun one! kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGKmoqSsdtF-jNU

Places to crash in Japan under $40 a night? Sold. It has everything you will need to shower, eat. Relax, sleep and wake up fresh the following day. How does it work if a person wants to stay multiple days? Do they have lockers to hold your belongings while you venture out? Great video.
