I still maintain, IL2s setting up of an S curve for Pitch, Roll, and Yaw is the easiest of all of them.

This is funny. My whole squad just changed our nonliniarity for the first time. We all started doing Pitch and Roll at 80% with 1.2 to 1.3 non linearity. Between that and upgrading to Thurstmaster 1600s we have all have seen a vast increase in our ability to control the plane.

I prefer the IL2 method. (I don't have DCS to compare). It is much easier to understand using the IL2 method. I have had to move roll, pitch, and yaw up to 3.0 to 3.5 respectfully or else I cannot get rid of the wobble when in the zoom mode for firing at an enemy plane. In order for my plane to stay stable and not wobble all over the place in WT as you are in your videos, I have to have my nonlinearity that high. Even then I get too much wobble. For me, it required me to also adjust my dead zone. By increasing my dead zone, I have pretty much eliminated the wobble to a manageable level in WT. Too bad no one eve did a video on how to set up the profile for the Thrustmaster Hostas. I have the Thrustmaster Hostas and the current profiles Gaijin provides are not compatible with Thrustmaster. So I have ordered a brand new Logitech Extreme 3D Pro to replace my 6 year old Logitech. That should take care of the dead zone which develops in joysticks after years of use. Your a hot shot with Gaijin now. Ask them to update their profiles for Thrustmaster HOSTAS. I could use it then. Otherwise, anyone want to buy a brand new Thrustmaster HOSTAS?

Just a tip for anyone watching if you have too much of a curve or non linearity the edge of stick movement becomes like a on/off switch and you can get a plane that works fine until it just falls out of the sky in a stall or spin so don't over do it.

Thats a good point, thanks

yep! If you mess with nonlinearity - small movements gets higher "resolution", but big movements much lower. So at slower speed things usually will be easier, at faster speed worse. If you want to turn at the limit its hard to control the limit if it's in higher end of the stick. So its specially difficult with some planes like the 190 that already has a short "speed-sensitivity-threshold" - when you go fast, you can pull very hard, and when you get slower - the pitch abruptly gets much more sensitive - messing with nonlinearity then will make almost impossible to control that plane at all speeds. At least in my experience....
@realsushi_official11165 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. It mess up with muscle memory besides you "pump" into chewing gum the "resolution" is messed up with too high non linearity: it delays your slight inputs I would rather use non linaerity to 1 (My J Curve becomes a classic line) Add 2% center deadzone Finally verify if 100% of an axis is necessary (pitch: 60% for "stronk" splitfore, 65% p63/p39...) Moreover I got my hand on the trim all the time! My mantra would be : economy of unecessary joystick movement

yep this is the main reason im always going back to little non lin after losing control of a plane in high stick manoeuvres cuz of non lin

Hello Toastman, I am relatively new to the simulator and have fallen in love with the FW190, but it is difficult to handle for a beginner ... I would be interested to know when you work with the rudder on the FW190 and when you use the roll rate, or do you combine both? Could you occasionally turn a clip where you catch on FW maneuvers and explain when you use which control? greetings Mave_Amis_
@CptToastman6 жыл бұрын
I'll try too, I don't really use rudder and roll at the same time on the 190s because their roll rate is really good as it is.

Hi. What's your deadzone and nonlinearity for roll and yaw? For you standard controls?
@CptToastman2 жыл бұрын
Hello, I don't have any dead zone or nonlinearity for roll and no nonlinearity for yaw. I like to rest my feet on the rudder pedals so I have a small dead zone.

I just found your channel,looking for vids on js play in this game. How competitive can you be with practice or is it always going to be hugely unlikely to compete with mouse and keyboard? i play AB and trying RB to hard to spot planes in sim for me atm.
@CptToastman4 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried other methods but there are a lot of good players out there using M&K. Also there are a lot of people using console controllers.

Hi Toast! Hey did they change your ability to adjust the main control axis's like this? I am trying to fly a little and lost my set up files so, taking a bit.

Hey toast. Does the nonlinear need to change for each spit fire? Or is it relatively the same. Like for all the griffons it's the same or for the first models ita the same for them. Idk if I'm making any sense lol.
@CptToastman4 жыл бұрын
I have the Nonlinear set to 1.6 for all planes except the spits. I now use 100% sensitivity and zero Nonlinear for all spits :)

Toastman, do you know anyone who knows the best way to mirror War Thunder VR in a single screen mode? Steam VR mirror does not seem to work. I have been posting some gameplay on my squads (detroitmichiganfightergroup) KZbin but I either have to pull it from the replay (so no commentary) or have to post it with what the VR sees which is not ideal.

Cpt Toastman Worth a shot :-) I know you use track IR. I thought about getting one for recording purposes but once you go VR it is hard to go back.
